They turn their heads to the left, then to the right as they swim away. The PDA suddenly reports: "A large leviathan class creature is approaching. Staying completely still is advised." Immediately after this, something shows on your radar, appearing to circle your Cyclops. You are confused, as you have never seen this before. The thing appears to be getting closer, eventually becoming visible to you without the radar. "Short range scans suggest that this creature has existed for--" Your PDA is cut off by a deafening roar, seeming like the Sea Dragon, but much longer and lower pitched, followed by a crash, and the sound of massive amounts of running water. You get out of your seat and look at the hologram of your Cyclops, and see a huge yellow shape near the end of the sub, looking like a creature rammed through it. To your grim realization, this is the case. You feel lucky you closed the door to the bridge, and descend down the ladder to close the one connecting to the vehicle docking bay. After you do so, you return to your seat, and see that the thing on your radar is very close to the impact zone, only strengthening your terror. The voice of the Cyclops breaks the silence with: "Extreme hull damage sustained. Repairs should not be conducted until leviathan-class creature leaves." You look out the window and see an extremely large eye, with a white iris. They eye then looks directly to you, and the entire room floods.
Markiplier: "The ecology of the dead supports only two kinds of life, miccrosccopic... and LEVIATHAN class... hmm ok then, exploration beyond the trench is ILL advised."
I would have loved it if you saw the Ghost Leviathans quickly swim past you, then out of nowhere... Two glowing green eyes, seemingly a long way across from each other. Then the eyes rise and jagged teeth appear. It does not swim after you, it breathes in and bites you in half. If you're in a Cyclops you get swallowed whole and you and your Cyclops slowly take damage to represent you two melting. Then you die but unlike dying normally, your character panics upon respawning.
Theres a mod that adds a creater called THE BLOOP, it's a leviathan that has green eyes and will suck in water to bring you to its maw. Not exactly your idea but it's somewhat there.
Imagine if this was a story mode for going to the void: "As you approach the endless abyss of nothingness and pure darkness, the sounds of life suddenly breaks, you hear nothing, but a subtle growl of something lurking among the shadows, you see a blue silhouette of a ghost which has been thought to be long gone, but only after the fear, comes the horror, it's two green eyes flashing before you on the darkness of the void, seemingly staring at your soul, as it lunges at you head on, you see the creature fully emerge out of the shadows, it's the Ghost Leviathan, he shoots straight at you, ripping your sub in half, and the only thing you see before death, is his grotesque face and his mandibles delivering your inevitable death on the lonely darkness of the void"
So apparently, the planet Subnautica takes place on has 3 main areas: the Crater Edge (where the main game takes place) an ice area (where Subnautica Below Zero takes place) and the Dead Zone, which covers the rest of the planet. Maybe there could be a third game dedicated to exploring the Dead Zone?
I know I’m 3 years late, but There is rumour on a subnautica 3. It’s highly likely that it could be based in the void. Either it will be the remaining 10 life pods from the aurora or a whole new thing like below zero. However, everything besides “subnautica 3 is planned” is speculation
I thought you had to reach the disease Research facility through the dead Zone. So i tried to get through it with my cyclops in stealth mode but all I got was pure Horror and frustration
When i first bought this game, it was beautiful and lots to explore. I was wandering around above the surface using my seamoth until suddenly a terrifying roar came. It was Ghost Leviathan coming straight at me going for the kill. In about 5-10 minutes, a second Ghost Leviathan appears, i had to pause the game cuz it was scary as shit. It was one heck of a experience but at the same time, it's scary. I'm never going back to the Dead Zone or Craters Edge ever again
For me it was worse. I was exploring mountains, going uppp and downnn, hunting for lithium. I then went down another one, but the cliff kept going down and I never found bottom… at about 950m, I heard loud shrieking and knew I was already dead 💀
I think the scariest part of the dead zone in just seeing a massive blue emptiness. A place where nothing lives, a place where you are the only thing in the next 2000 miles that lives and breathes.
Upon entering the geological dead zone, you'll find yourself hearing some strange... *OH MY, WHAT IS THAT SOUND?!!* ...from within the depths. This is where the Ghost Leviathans dwell, and while they look incredibly beauti- *wait, what is that blue glow?* , they are astonishingly aggress- *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH* "
I'm saddened that there isn't anything scarier in this game for example say if you keep going out into the water you see another ghost Leviathan but then it gets eaten by something monstrously big what's with a screech scare the living shit out of anyone that he is it
dude the deadzone isnt an actual place putting something there thats intresting would be pointless why do you think the put a already implemented creature in it? its because they are not intresting anymore so going out there is just death and boredom cause come on man why you playing the game just to go out to a big emptey area?
The Dead Zone is an area you obviously can go to, but the devs don't want you there so they added in an enemy that's meant to scare you or kill you if the scare tactic doesn't work. You know, like how at least a few PS2 games basically said "you're out of bounds. Get back to where you're supposed to be or this enemy will kill you instantly." Yes, the boundaries did change temporarily for certain missions (there's a mission in Jak 2 when you don't want to go swimming because the very powerful and invincible enemy only registers you as out of bounds when ya hit the water even outside of the mission and you're going to die even if you get back in bounds. Fyi: The area said mission takes place in is usually a safe area to go swimming.)
Mo. memes Actually in Below Zero the devs are in talk of putting the Kraken in the void. As well as a few Adult Shadow Leviathans. And that even if you somehow miraculously survive the onslaught of huge ass Shadow Leviathans that you can barely see in the dark endless depths of the void, but also a large tentacle that can one shot any vehicle, mob, etc. With the rest of the model being too big in a sense to be seen by the player in the game. Only thing you will see is a giant tentacle reach out, grab you, and pull you into the void. Causing a death animation to pop up right as you hear the loudest and most terrifying roar of your life.
let's be fucking honest though, nature is terrifying in so many ways. especially the oceans. there are so many things that are poisonous, venomous, and/or massive. life had about twice the amount of time to evolve in the oceans than on land, and since the water makes the lifeforms mostly not bound to problems like gravity (which forces most things on land to conform to a basic body plan), whereas in the oceans that problem is nonexistent. time and a lack of a force making bodies conform to a simple solution results in massive diversity, and this diversity and power is terrifying and amazing.
You mean 30 feet? Mate, 30 meters is REALLLLY deep. Average adult male humans are less than 3 meters, About 2.6-2.8, so that water will go on for what feels like forever. It’s like 10x deeper than a human

WolfyDaGamer how’d he encounter the ghost leviathan at the surface
Sardonicus oh thanks for the advice

Imagine if this was a story mode for going to the void:
"As you approach the endless abyss of nothingness and pure darkness, the sounds of life suddenly breaks, you hear nothing, but a subtle growl of something lurking among the shadows, you see a blue silhouette of a ghost which has been thought to be long gone, but only after the fear, comes the horror, it's two green eyes flashing before you on the darkness of the void, seemingly staring at your soul, as it lunges at you head on, you see the creature fully emerge out of the shadows, it's the Ghost Leviathan, he shoots straight at you, ripping your sub in half, and the only thing you see before death, is his grotesque face and his mandibles delivering your inevitable death on the lonely darkness of the void"
That would be a philosophical end

Ur not the only one..
Well that must have been terrifying
When i first bought this game, it was beautiful and lots to explore. I was wandering around above the surface using my seamoth until suddenly a terrifying roar came. It was Ghost Leviathan coming straight at me going for the kill. In about 5-10 minutes, a second Ghost Leviathan appears, i had to pause the game cuz it was scary as shit. It was one heck of a experience but at the same time, it's scary. I'm never going back to the Dead Zone or Craters Edge ever again
I think we are the same person
For me it was worse. I was exploring mountains, going uppp and downnn, hunting for lithium. I then went down another one, but the cliff kept going down and I never found bottom… at about 950m, I heard loud shrieking and knew I was already dead 💀
I think the scariest part of the dead zone in just seeing a massive blue emptiness. A place where nothing lives, a place where you are the only thing in the next 2000 miles that lives and breathes.
Well. You and ghost leviathans
There's actually nothing more on the planet like thousands of miles away, maybe absolute huge monsters?
Upon entering the geological dead zone, you'll find yourself hearing some strange... *OH MY, WHAT IS THAT SOUND?!!*

The only reason the ghosts exist in this game is either because you went too far or went too deep
Diverse Boi each ghost leviathan appears after 30 seconds actually, they just come from all sides
Just saying
Mo. memes Actually in Below Zero the devs are in talk of putting the Kraken in the void.
I could never play Subnautica, i flip out already in real life once water hits 30 meters
Garra Of the Sand lol bro
let's be fucking honest though, nature is terrifying in so many ways. especially the oceans. there are so many things that are poisonous, venomous, and/or massive. life had about twice the amount of time to evolve in the oceans than on land, and since the water makes the lifeforms mostly not bound to problems like gravity (which forces most things on land to conform to a basic body plan), whereas in the oceans that problem is nonexistent. time and a lack of a force making bodies conform to a simple solution results in massive diversity, and this diversity and power is terrifying and amazing.
You mean 30 feet? Mate, 30 meters is REALLLLY deep. Average adult male humans are less than 3 meters,
About 2.6-2.8, so that water will go on for what feels like forever. It’s like 10x deeper than a human
@@darkmelody4725 You're fucking stupid if you think that average adult male is about 2.6m.
