  • She opened a case for smell!?!?
    In this video I'll tell you four steps that will help you WIN poshmark cases as a seller if you've done everything right.
    I've been selling my clothes and shoes on poshmark for more than 4 years and have learned several poshmark tips and tricks when it comes to poshmark return requests and buyers attempting to scam on poshmark.
    As long as you follow the best practices to sell your second-hand items on the app, you have a great chance of winning a case if you follow the four steps I outline in this video.
    I'll also share some reseller poshmark horror stories, and tell you about some of the bad experiences I've had with poshmark buyers and how I ended up turning the situation around in my favor.
    Buyers are willing to open cases for everything from fit, to color, smell, etc. It's important you're prepared so you can avoid losing your items or money!

    I absolutely love this video. I wish poshmark had an option to see repeat case offenders. It will save all the time, money and hassle 🙄. I’ll rather see an option that shows how many times they opened a case and not deal with them at all 😭

    I love the professional approach! Great advice. Hope it works in my favor. Also, agree that no one should stress about this. It's an OH WELL situation. I would suggest blocking the person once everything is done and resolved. There's no way you want to deal with that individual again.

    This was great, just had my first case opened up about a fit of a pair of shoes and I feel horrible but tried my best to follow the no returns policy of poshmark.

    Thank you so much for this information and examples! I have a buyer who made a claim that the heels I sold them do not fit, I mistakenly put the UK sizing which was a seven in the sizing, but I did post photos of the size of the heels as well as reiterated to review all photos for an accurate representation within the listing.
    I followed your steps and am nervously waiting for the results. I'm unsure if I'll be in the wrong, but I genuinely don't try to misrepresent my closet when listing

    Having a dress smell like febreeze is not the worse thing in the world even if it was true. Washing or dry cleaning no big deal. These are absurd cases but you handled them with class. Thanks for the tips!

    This was super helpful. I had a case opened on me for a pair of Frame jeans. I listed measurements which included inseam. The buyer stated the she had purchase Frame jeans before and I sold her cropped jeans. I stated that the inseam was correct and per frame website cropped inseam was shorter. She included a picture of her frame jeans with the ones purchased from me and made mine look shorter Witcher placement of the jeans. She also sent pic with the bottom of a ruler and the hem but not whole leg. I lost he case. I mremeasured as sounds igot the jeansback and I was correct with the inseam measurement. I should have said per policy. @#$%& Keep doing these videos!

      That is so annoying that they accepted the return, I’m sorry! Hopefully using the wording will help if anything like that happens again. It’s bizarre that some of the staffers accept returns that are out of line with their policy.

    What has been helpful is recording yourself showing then item in all angles in the video, packaging up the item, and handing off the item to usps. Video’s always help because they show the date and time of recording. Always record yourself handing off the package to USPS. 🙂

    This happened to me yesterday. A buyer claimed that a bag I had sold to her was not real leather. Meanwhile, in my listing, I copied everything from the original website to ensure all information was correct.
    After responding to the case, I added another comment and I attached screenshots of the bag from the original site to prove that it does say it is leather.
    To support my case even further, I added another screenshot of another bag, faux leather, from the same company. This was to show them that the descriptions are 100 percent true and authentic.
    I am waiting to see how this works out. I have been very professional in my comments and watched my tone when responding.

    Thanks . I knew this buyer was going to be an issue due to their profile icon. They low balled me for purchase . I accepting their low offer and now they are complaining the item smells which it doesn’t. Then said the tag was false which it’s not . The item prob doesn’t fit them and they want to rerun it . I used what you said about scent and said I didn’t do any scent. That the tag is original and attached properly and it’s original with brand. Then I let them know due to Covid all items should be laundered before wearing due to pandemic. Sheesh some buyers are so horrible

    Sold a chanel vintage bag for a reasonable price, obviously being vintage it has normal vintage like wear, but no major issues. I lost about 400$ bringing the price down, finally sold it. It got authenticated!
    The lady put a case on me😑. I posted even. Video of the bag🤦🏻‍♀️.
    Still waiting on poshmark to say why.

      im honestly starting to reconsider selling on poshmark. i sold last week 2 Fendi bags one a Pouchette and the other was a coin purse. Just the bag costs $1,300 and the coin bag for about $500. i sold it as a bundle for $350. Both bags for that price is a steal. The Fendi purse did have discoloration on the handles. i described that and also put if no one buys i will replace the handles or even paint them myself an sell for more. i seen a notification when i look at my phone she opened a case an when i seen the pictures she sent. my heart broke into a million pieces. she had ripped a big hole in the handle and said it came like this. Im still angry i sold it super cheap! i could of got $1000 easy for both bags but i sold it cheap since she really was after the bags. an i get paid like this a big hole in the handle. im hoping Poshmark does it job correctly and look at both pictures and description.

      I’m asking because someone opened a case on me when i clearly SPECIFICALLY detailed the Gucci boots I’m presenting are worn. I even re-uploaded pics she said my pics don’t show what she sees i about died a little while ago & resurrected myself to whatever this is the life of sales.

    I’m a seasoned reseller on another platform but I’ve only been on PM for a couple of years. However, I’ve had no issues with my sales thus far. People have been honest and overall pleasant. But yesterday I received notification of my first case being opened. The chick said I sent her shoes with the soles falling off (false). I said no way did I do that, that’s illogical. But I said whatever I’ll take them back if you’re not satisfied(small $22 sale). Then I dig deeper because I knew she wasn’t being honest and what do I see but her past purchase of the exact same shoe from another seller plus she stated that she loves them so much she had another pair just like it. So I am just assuming at this point she is pulling a switcharoo on me. I’ll have to inspect the return and see what she sends me. My question is, if this is indeed fraud, is PM going to take me seriously? I’m willing to file a police report if I need to. This is a huge problem with online selling.

    I think you provided solid advice. I don't think that recommending a buyer file a claim with the postal service is the best advice. It is the responsibility of the seller to open a claim with the postal service since they packaged the item and paid for the shipping. The buyer has no control over shipping.

    one buyer was funny she lowballed a dress I was selling , then opened a case, complained I didn't list a 'stain" ( it was discolored), and then when Poshmark asked her for photos she attached a picture I has posted with the dress and said stain, Of course, they dismissed her and gave me my money back.

    Great Video Nikki! Do you ever worry that a buyer will open a case and say you gave them the wrong measurements? And they provide pictures and purposely take photos of the measurements wrong?

      I know people on the Poshmark Facebook groups will mention that but it’s never personally happened to me, so I’m not really worried about it. Knock on wood it won’t happen 🤞🏻

      I actually had this happen to me a few days ago. Buyer said I provided wrong measurements for a handbag I was selling. I am a new seller on Poshmark, but have been selling on Ebay for years. I never included pics of actual measuring tape, but noted the measurements in the description. The buyer opened a case, saying that while the bag was "cute," it was a couple inches smaller than I reported. She included some pics with a ruler, but not properly measuring the bag at its widest points (which seemed on purpose to fit her narrative). I responded to the case by saying how I got to my measurements, but Poshmark sided with the buyer. Going forward, maybe I need to include pics of me actually measuring the item? Some of these buyers are just savvy and know how to work the system. They don't want to just say, "I don't like it" or something similar. I guess I get it? LOL

    I need a quick fix because the buyer sent two fake images of a item that doesn’t even look like the one i sent! And used a return case, i shipped the item before they sent money.
    And now they file a fake claim yet they still have the item.

    I use lavender and vanilla laundry detergent and I had a scent claim. Terrible. I was told it was covered in perfume. My first review I cried. I had a write up on something else which was perfect saying it was stained ect and a seam Issue after one month of having the item. Agreed does not fit ect repost it or wash it if you don’t like maybe the laundry detergent scent most people I would assume would wash the item anyway. I have never had a bad review on Mercari. I do have a case where someone cancelled an order after receiving the item not resolved. It was a purse. I did give away Coach purses for free lol.

    Can anyone please give me their thoughts on an opened an item not as described case for a plaid button up shirt? Description is Women’s button up long sleeve flannel shirt with color & size. She stated the shirt is not flannel & sent a pic of the shirt. This is a $12 sale. I did have pics of material tag showing it was a cotton blend & the shirt felt & looked like flannel to me. Any advice? Should I leave flannel out of my listings now?

    Thank you for this video. I’m new to selling on Poshmark and I’ve taken such care selling my items and someone opened a case against me today! I’m so hurt. It’s a brand new item that she asked me how old it was prior to buying, and then opened a case against me saying it was expired. I noted on the post that it was an unopened eye cream, for sanitization reasons, I hadn’t opened it. I bought two of the same eye cream and because of how a little went a long way, I’m selling the second one. The one I have is perfectly fine and the case said the buyer uses this cream all the time so feel like the buyer had one already that was expired and tried to pawn mine as expired. I’m so heartbroken. It’s brand new and I take such care to sanitize every product, provide a hand written note, free sample, and safe/cute packaging and I’m so torn up because there’s no way the item I sold her was the one she claimed I sent her. I’m waiting for the results of the case but this video helped me feel better with my response.

      I’m sorry that happened! My best advice in this situation is to the not to let their actions hurt you personally. There are always going to be out there that are looking for someone to take advantage of, unfortunately. It’s not a reflection of you, it’s simply a numbers game. Eventually you’re going to sell to a person who isn’t a quality individual. Try to focus on the good sales and reviews you have ❤️. I hope you have the best outcome possible.

    When dealing with Poshmark cases I always repeat that I mentioned size, measurements, flaws everything in the description over and over again. I also take quotes from the description directly. As long as you mention that everything is in the description you will be okay. I have never lost a bogus return case on Poshmark because my listings are accurate. If something really is my fault I always accept the return.

      I’m newer to poshmark and I wanted to know if you didn’t say something exclusively in the listing but showed pictures of a flaw, would you 100% lose that case if a buyer started one?

    I currently sold my heels. I showed every angle on my video and showed the defects. I’m guessing this person did not like the heels and wants to return them, so they completely destroyed the heel and are now stating I sold the heel damaged. I’m very angry but your video did help me a lot. I hope the case is in my favor.

      That really sucks and definitely is tricky! I hope the case worked out for you, that one can be really hard to prove. I've heard some people will open return cases if they lose the first case.

      Same thing just happened with me. I shipped a lipstick in perfect condition. USPS crushed it somehow lost the cap of the product. We are in a heat wave so all the product, melted out…. I have the feeling I’m going to lose this case. The only thing I have going for me is that I took a photo of the item with her shipping label to show that the item has the cap.

    I just sold my first 2 items and one person who purchased my almost new On Running shoes which originally cost $139 for $35 just opened a case because she”found some dog hairs in them and it makes her sneeze;” It’s a little demoralizing but I followed your advice and now await the verdict

      Someone opened a case on me today about some dog hair on a sleeve. I don’t have a dog and they said I accused them of putting the dog hair on the item when I asked for more pictures to see the dog hair. Then it got nasty and they said “Lady that’s not my problem!” I want my money back then threatened to get a lawyer. I have it all saved too!

    I spent almost $600 on a bag that was BADLY damaged. The description did not note the severity of the flaws, just saying “severity of leather damage varies.” The photos of the bag are in dim lighting and don’t show how deep the leather tears are. Poshmark disregarded my request for a return and instead gave me a $50 credit. I’m so upset! This bag is so much worse than pictured! Help!!

    I shipped out a pair of new leather over the knee boots that were sitting in my closet from Nordstrom that I never wore. I got a message from the buyer saying the calf area of the boots are too narrow for her and she is asking me if she can return. There is no defect with the boots and I had to pay $9.00 to ship because the package was 7lbs. Do you think I should take them back?

      I would definitely leave it up for Poshmark to decide. However, that would be a return for fit which technically isn’t allowed according to their terms of service. It’s unfortunate, but she should have asked you for measurements before purchasing really, especially with over the knee boots. She can always reposh!

    . been selling on poshmark for about a year . I have a niche market ... i sell used louboutins. I clean them resole , retip etc. I want people to be able to have something nice that they cn afford. I didn't for see people buying them and wearing them and then sending them back saying they are fakes . Ive been doing this for awhile now and i can tell a fake a mile away. So i absolutely would not sell them. Anyway i have not won a case . And im just sick of it and want to quit. Help

    Thank you ! I sold a wig and the lady is complaining that the extra free items were including, I didn't mention. HUH? She said my items were quality and then complained ??? I spoke to her a zillion times before shipping and I included measurements. After this is done, I will block her. I don't need the headache. !

      Wow! Complaining about free stuff 🤯. I’m convinced some of the people who are noisy on Poshmark are unfortunately just lonely and looking for some attention, thus all of the communication before shipping too. Sorry about your bad experience!

      Be careful about selling wigs. My friend lost a case and they mailed her back a synthetic wig instead of the human hair wig she sent them. ☹️

    Sing it Sister!! Jesus sent out a beautiful Vintage Gucci Bag perfect condition she said oh straps too tight I can’t accept all photos all angles. Offered her free Gucci wallet or return instead she opened a case. Let her know my thoughts as nice as I could but buyers are taking advantage

    I didn’t win this case and it’s actually very major. Sold an item at $750 the buyer opened up a dispute saying “glasses was bent” even after saying she tampered w. Them. They accepted her return and she sent me back a box with just a glasses case inside and NO glasses ! They gave her a refund today and I’m out of $600. I’m currently doing everything I can regarding this issue

    I am heated the poshmark seller I’m trying to communicate with is not answering me. Had to escalate it to poshmark. What’s so hard about sending clearer pictures to prove your handbag is authentic? Come on now. I accidentally made this purchase 😢 and they haven’t shipped it yet it’s Sunday lol. I know the post office is closed but I’m hoping for a refund or something. 😓 I politely asked the seller to please cancel my order because either way I’m gonna want a refund if I’m not happy. Literally dodging me on purpose. Not cool. 👎🏽

    Thanks for this video , it’s really helpful coz first time someone open a case on my Poshmark. Poshmark didn’t describe specify reason of the case so how should I respond. I’ve responded that since it’s authenticated above $500 & I have buyout offer from FASHIONPHILE which is a legit item. Thanks in advance & hope to hear your advise .
