  • A Trip to London via Woking December 2 1994 to catch the last dwindling class 33 workings .
the trip took in Woking Kensington Olympia Clapham Junction and Wandsworth Road.
we see NSE liveried 33035 (woking to Leighton)and Retro green liveried 33008 at Woking followed by 33002 Walrus and 33030 at Kensington and Wandsworth road on Hoo to Temple Mills and return), we see Gatex 73s as well as slam door emus and first generation 117 Dmus on the "Kenny Belle".
Mixed in with class 47s on various duties ,class 73s on Civils , Eurostars on the "old " route.
The clips at Wandsworth were in poor condition but have managed to "clean" them up.

My word, look how scruffy Wandsworth Road was. Makes you appreciate what London Overground did to brighten things up.

I'm glad I've found these videos, they're a wonderful look back at the time just before the fatuous franchises came into being. DMU incident at Kenny O; probably the heater. The driver jumping down on the offside of the train right above the conductor rail made me a bit nervous though.

Thanks Bob the Wandsworth Road clips had terrible black lines across indicating dirty vcr heads but when I digitised the tapes the lines disappeared,so I was well pleased.these clips are now getting quite old now

What was the Eurostar doing going through Wandsworth Road?? I can't find any record of a Eurostar having been routed to London Victoria anywhere.

They came from Waterloo international and went to North pole depot for servicing via Kensington

Actually they were from Edinburgh to Waterloo, turning onto the North London line just outside Kings Cross, to connect with Eurostar (supposedly, though they rarely had more than half a dozen passengers), and empty stock to/from Old Oak

Are there no 'dual mode' locos within the Southern Region, that is, Diesels capable of taking current from the live rails?
