Even with no wind the fog goes all over the place and I find myself eventually covering my nose and mouth with my shirt. The fog does keep the mosquitoes away but not indefinitely. I haven't kept track of how long it works for but if I spray in the morning or afternoon then we're mosquito free for at least the whole night.
bought one yesterday. The Black Flag insecticide works! 90% of mosquitoes are gone after one application. Only saw a few mosquitoes today where there were previously swarms. However, my Burgess fogger flames up quite a bit so I'm contemplating returning it and buying a different brand. It was so bad that I almost burned down some bushes. Adjusting propane valve made no difference. It's also a real PITA to light.

Hi Mark. Just fired mine up for the first time and overall things went well. But I can't even imagine letting it warm up for more than 1 minute. My coils were glowing red and the mist was shooting out without any liquid component almost right away. Wonder if my unit is running hotter than normal. I had my gas dialed waaaay back too. Your unit is obviously much older, so maybe this is a burn-in thing...?

I have a newer model about 3 years old and its ready to go approximately 10-25 seconds after firing it up. Its ready once the fog starts and the liquid starts spewing out on its own.
I realize you're doing this in the daytime so you can film the video, but it may be a good idea to recommend that this be done at dusk, NOT in the day time. Dusk is when they all go to their resting places, under leaves and plants etc. If you did mention it, and I missed it, apologies.

Unfortunately there isn't a quick answer or one product that kills/repels mosquitoes. You'll have to use multiple products to make your backyard more comfortable.

I've been around a fog machine and don't think they work the same way. The insect fogger gets real hot. The hotter it gets, the better the fog comes out. The indoor special effects fogger doesn't seem to get hot, that I've noticed. Sorry I can't be any more specific.

It's good practice to empty the insecticide however, I've left some in there by accident for long periods of time and have never had any issues. I think the hot coil melts anything that gums up.
Just a question does this fog kill the Mosquitos or just repel them with all the news about the zika virus looking at getting one of these because we're down south.

I've used this fogger occasionally, for family get togethers, and the canister lasted for years. The fogger helps, but when we're in droughts, like the weather Michigan has had so far this spring, there's not many mosquitoes out and no reason to do any fogging.
+native ojibwa Thanks, I agree. A respirator is a good idea. I don't have many black flies around here, so I can't give you an opinion. I read that they help with flying and biting flies for several hours.
I don't recall what I said in the video, but I see claims that it works for up to 72 hours. If I were having an outdoor get together, I'd spray this 2-3 hours ahead of time to be mosquito free.

My old one flames up once in awhile but pretty rare. I only open it 1 turn.
I think my dad has same fogger 😅. Mosquitoes this year is the worst I've ever seen them.

I use 1 gallon of kerosene per 4oz of permethrin from farm store. You can make 8 gallons of fogger for about 60 bucks.

I take it that smearing goat blood on the front door does not help if the fog gets inside the mosquito house

I got one of these and I'll watch bugs fly right through the fog and they seem to be just fine. Seems like it just annoys them at best.

I only use the products that's sold specifically for this fogger. It's poured in straight and not diluted.
