Louise, I think so many of us have our issues with food. For me, it’s when alcohol is involved. I’m looking forward to a dry January. If I drink, I’ll raid the fridge and my drinking isn’t great - a lot more than I want so looking forward to a break ❤xx

Great video, Lousie! Don’t beat yourself up, or feel bad, I think it’s totally normal - but I call it “splurging”! Lol
I eat clean so much of the time, but sometimes I am hormonal with my period and I just crave a bad food day. I eat probably 3 times my daily calorie budget in one day, but I enjoy it and give myself the grace to relax that day and eat as much or whatever I want. I tell myself the next two days that follow, I will fast or have light liquids only coffee, tea, protein shake, water, etc) so very low calorie, and over the course of a week, it all works itself out, so I am at peace knowing that. Also add some extra walking in to burn off some of what you over consumed on that indulgence day. I think it’s also good because it shocks a sluggish metabolism a bit.. don’t they say that eating more, then exercising more helps fire up a stagnant metabolism? This is a good hack for those that have plateaued in their weight loss.
Lastly, a tip for TV munching.. popcorn! Clean popcorn, that is. I buy organic popping kernels, and you can get pop corn machines that use hot air and no oil (if you’re watching your calories), otherwise I pop them in a pot with extra virgin olive oil, and add Celtic sea salt. Munch away! Full of fibre and very low calorie, with nutritious minerals from the salt and good fats. This is my go to snack of choice.

I’ve noticed about twice a month I’m prone to binging and am recently starting to notice a pattern. Around ovulation and again about a week before my period starts. If my periods decide to be a few days late, that can lead to another binge. I use to also be a tv binger as well. What’s helped with my tv bingeing is a fidget toy as it’s hard for me to sit still while doing nothing with my hands. I do have unmediated ADHD though. My current favourite fidget toy is the fidget cube.

You know, I totally forgot to mention the pre-period binge eating! Now that I'm on HRT my hormones are more stable so I don't have thay as much. Thanks for bringing that up. And what a great idea to use a fidget cube! I should try that!

I've been a binger since puberty. I can't keep junk food in the house at all. If someone gifts me a box of chocolates, I have to give them to the local food bank or take them into work. I have no self control around certain foods. If I want junk food, I have to buy a very small amount (e.g.50g chocolate bar).

    • @Corrans
      @Corrans  8 днів тому +1

So I'm not the only one who can't control herself around certain foods. It's crazy how some foods can be that way, isn't it?

Alcohol is the worst thing for women, it screws up everything. Sometimes when you are always watching calories, your body says enough give me more food. So you binge eat. Stress can also make you binge eat. Good that you are aware of it now. I have my go to comfort foods now, but instead of unhealthy foods, they are full of nutrition. Like home made soups. That seems to help me. I also avoid alcohol now. We are all human, thanks for bringing up this topic.

Thank you for answering my question Louise. I have felt so alone with this problem and it’s the frequency that makes it detrimental. I do it twice a week. Once a month would definitely be less problematic. I know why I binge. As a really short woman I just get sick and tired of constantly restricting portion sizes. If I could eat to satiety every day, this wouldn’t happen. But with a low tdee and a large appetite, I always have to stop eating before I’m completely satisfied and it’s exhausting

Thank you for your honesty! I don’t think it’s a mental disorder however we do lack something if we overeat. Probably it’s our subconscious that is stronger than our conscious:) I do binge sometimes even on very healthy foods. I almost don’t have any ‘’bad’’ foods in the house. Nevertheless, I feel bored working at home. Missing my family in another country… I wish you Happy Holidays 🎄. Love your videos! 🤗

    Merry belated christmas Louise
From everything Ive learned in regards to binging/ eating disorders - what you are describing is more a type of bulimia ( non purging type, unless you purge ofcourse and havent said that...) but when there is any compensation to the over eating ( such as doing more exercise ' to balance calories', fasting or dieting / restricting, again to control calories and weight, or laxative and/or enema use, etc )
It is categorized more as a bulimia type than than ' true' binge eating, which usually is without compensation and dieting thus leading to overweight/ obesity...
However to be clinically diagnosed I believe it has to happen at least 1x a week or 3 x a month or something like that.
However being Quite skinny too and maybe skinnier than your naturally 'meant to be' ..., it could be a type of anorexia with binging tendensies ...( Yes thats a thing too) They binge but then compensate harder and longer so they still can stay skinny or get even skinnier over time...
If at all interested, Ill recommend looking into Kathryn Hansens brain over binge method, its 2 books, and a podcast ( Ill recommend book 2; 'the brain over binge recovery guide', over book 1 ' the Brian over binge' - which is more of Kathryns own Eating disorder (exercise bulimia) and recovery story... Its good too, but dosnt really have tools, the 'recovery guide', has a step by step guide.
and Ill def. Also recommend to check out her podcast , the brain over binge podcast - thats completely free 🙌🏽 ( podcast episode 1-11 is a good representation of the method ( all the other eps are good too but the first ones are a 'the base' of understanding the method))
Happy new year, hope you'll get a great year and find a solution that works for you ❤️

@HomemakerDaze I hear you. What you could do is throw it away when your son is asleep or occupied, unless it's food he would eat? Or just let it sit uneaten until it goes bad and you have to throw it out? We have eneded up with a lot of food and have had to throw some out as no one ate it in our house too.💁‍♀️💁‍♀️💁‍♀️ Seems a waste hey?

I’m a binge eater too but in a strange way. Medication messes with my appetite. There are days when I just don’t want to eat but then I have a day when I’m just hungry and eat and eat. In my case I go with it because I need the calories. I think after a few days of eating too little my body demands food. This happens every few weeks. Luckily most of the time I eat normally. 🩷
