What you see is what you hear: The audio signal is fed directly into the oscilloscope, where vector graphics are drawn with sound. Try it yourself! (works best with lossless audio files at high sampling rate)
left channel = x-axis
right channel = y-axis
Due to the direct connection of sound and image, traditional mastering is impossible (would distort the image), so it might sound slightly different, depending on the speakers you use.
● recommended: good headphones or stereo speakers
● not recommended: mono speakers, automatic sound "enhancers" (often activated by default on laptops / phones)

Still nice to see you’re keeping track of oscilloscope music like us after all these years!
I learned about this music genre on your channel, thanks for introduccing me into this world...
Very much incredible
I like how over 7 minutes this turns from simple y=mx+b to complete sensory overload and I love it
my favorite type of beat: sensory overload

Hello xri0tt!!!!!
This is legitimately one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my entire life. I've used oscilloscopes in my studies and know how difficult this is to create... this is engineering ART in a way I've never seen. I've admired your stuff for years and you never stopped improving. You're so cool
Every since finding this channel I have been fascinated by this genre of art. I feel like the music and the visuals produced by said music are indescribable in terms of the real world. I remember being young at school and tasked to draw what I thought the music was doing as we listened and I could never have imagined this is what is possible given the right frequencies and order of said frequencies.
this came out 10 hours ago how did you send this
@@devoreco9328 he sent it before the video premiered
>are indescribable in terms of the real world
The universe is math, and math is the universe. As above, so below.
I'm glad that at least one other person (Chris Allen) has made some oscilloscope music, it has such potential as a genre.

Actually insane to think how all these visuals ARE the audio, and how it's all generated with a single dot just moving insanely quickly like what!! Everything looks so solid that it's just not a thought that comes to mind
1:13 doors
I don't think that's true
@@xX_dash_Xx if it wasn't true it wouldn't be an oscilloscope
@@_vgenda1039 Just tried on my own oscilloscope, although the line is incredibly wobbly due to youtube compression, it looks practically the same
@@_vgenda1039 nope, it really is like that if you feed the music into an oscilloscope.
As a researcher into brain waves and oscillations, dealing with time-frequency data - THANK YOU.
Welcome back, Jerobeam! Hoping the years have helped you grow and kept you healthy.
unfortunately the price paid for this level of creativity is health

What I said, someone make hardstyle out of this
I just recently learned about the Hilbert Curve. Seeing a springy ball jump on it like it's a 3D plane really messed with my head, totally convincing me it's was 3D. Amazing once again! Totally worth the wait!
Geometry never sounded this groovy!
The best part begins at 4:20, by the way!
4:20? Nice.
4:20 looks like the metal thingy inside my sports protein shaker.
Funny number
Heavy super hexagon vibes
3:54, 4:32, 4:53 He really went Portal 2 OST here
Still blown away since the day the mushroom video went online.
My nerd brain really needed this today thank you.
I’m Tempted to remix this.
Would you be ok if I made a remix of it and used part of your video as visuals?
THE COLLAB OF KINGS
Do it :D
wow, that would be awesome
The pure King is here.
Do it, I dare you
as much as many people are sharing their praises and all. I gotta say the fact you realized to use oscilloscope to draw the sound is just a level of genius not seen so often these days.
and my favourite part, that spring ball bouncing back and forth or in circles, Love it!
Listen man, my jaw is on the floor with every video you upload, that much is obvious. The amount of oneupmanship against yourself is inspiring. You just pile on awesome every new scene. Building and building that experience until everyone's mind is blown. Loved the meta of the carthesian axes, awesome callbacks to your previous video's with the springo's and the bouncing balls, amazing work on that hilbert curve, and my mind was absolutely blown when that curve got bent into a sphere. When people say "audiovisual experience" there's only one person I think of, and it's you!
Here's the thing; This wasn't what I wanted to comment initially. First and foremost, you uploading video's makes me happy not only because I get to get my mind blown, but also because it's a confirmation that you're alive, and receptive to commentary. You deserve credit and appreciation for your work. I'm happy you're alive. That's the most important thing.
Well said. 😊

This was the last thing I expected to come out today and all I gotta say is this is your best piece yet! its so complex yet slaps so hard!
Are you telling me that hardcore is just a math graph?
Oh. I think I pre-order this EP about 3 years ago.
Cool that there is still something coming out of it 🙂
Holy shit no
No fckn way
No way this sounds so great and still looks so fckn amazing.
I could'nt even manage to make visuals of this quality normally and you manage to make them while also creating an absolute hardcore techno banger!
Thank you King!!
What u are seeing here is what ur hearing. 1 to 1. This is an oscilloscope after all. L & R inputs visualized by a dot moving in X and Y axes ( rly fast ).
So you could say, "the visuals are created by the music"

This reminds me on Kraftwerk. Developing a complete new genre and instruments like this is incredible.
And also because you’re musicvideos are the actual music is perfection in itself :D
@Average user of Internet. hell yea - hardcore will never die!
It reminded me of Kraftwerk too! :D
They also inspired Autechre as well
This is an insane concept (in the best way possible). There's something almost mesmerizing about watching a video that is simultaneously the music you're hearing.
When aliens just show them this and they will spare us
Man, watching the ball form felt kinda like an A.I with child-like wonder forming an idea and then slowly advancing it to it's best possible form. It's a hard feeling to explain, and kinda sounds cliche or lame but regardless it felt very unique. Can't wait to see more.
That's a really evocative idea, I love it

It took me 5 minutes to see that it wasn't 2 minutes 💀
Did you get hacked? Your channel name is now sternmull.
yeah just noticed that, + his profile pic is a default
Everything seems reverted now, so yes, it is suggested that Fenderson got hacked. The good news is that from what I can tell, the supposed hacker did nothing besides that.
When I was a kid I had to stay in the hospital a long time and fell behind in math because no one was there to help me , and eventually I thought I was just bad at it because that trope that women were bad at math /excelled in social sciences +bio/chem was widely believed so I believed it too. After watching this and learning how it works with the explanation video, I’ve decided to teach myself again beginning after basics and going into advanced. It was a self fulfilling prophecy I was put in as a kid, but I know all it takes is work and I am fully capable . I have a fucking degree in biochemistry. I’m not letting this hold me back anymore. I missed out on working in physics because of it. Thank you so much for the inspiration. Been working on the music industry for years as well helping a techno label manage artists and I’m going to learn how to make music finally. You’re awesome , plesse keep posting you’re so inspiring this music helped change my life !
I'm sure you can do it if you want! Don't believe tropes and do stuff your way
"So what kind of music are you into"
"\left|\frac{1}{x}
ight|+1+\frac{\cos2x}{4}"
"...what?"
Thats really 4D Chess.. not only are the soundwaves directly generating the image but the image is also visualising the composition directly. The animation is also really good, especially the bouncing ball. Sound design is amazing. Einfach nur gut!
It's incredible how much smoother the animations have gotten over time. I've been following this since the beginning, and it used to be that the drum beats used to cause a lot of visual distortions and you could see the changes in the music more clearly, but now the music and the visuals almost exist independently. Is this due to practice or improvements in the software?
From what I understand of geometry.
0:01 The introduction of the X and Y axis
0:06 Positive slope “y = mx + b”
0:10 Negative slope “y = -mx + b “
0:14 log function “y = log(x)”
0:18 combination of a log and sine function “y = log(x) + sin(x)
0:22 combination of a slope and sine function “y = mx + b + sin(x)”
1:09 introduction of the Z axis, creating a three dimensional graph.
1:11 sine function on the “Y/Z” plain “y = sin(z) + b
3:05 the sine wave becoming a spiral could count as radial graphing
3:30 Callback to “Spirals”
3:50 Callback to “Planets”
4:45 The introduction of Self Filling Curves
And that is how the universe was created.
Man if I speed this to 1.75x it kinda really sounds something like a speedcore music and I really love it so much yet I am a speedcore song lover
Man I am so happy that there is more Oscilloscope music to come because this is such an interesting idea of how to create music and I love it.
goofy ahh alien type beat
A true masterpiece! I have never seen such shapes and creativity coming from a coordinate system on an oscilloscope... wow!
This has to be some of the most impressive audio engineering I've ever seen in my life. It's good music with good visuals, but that's only the start of it. The 3d imaging, the movement, and that all with the sound itself. Crazy. Mad respect, hope you keep doing this.
AYO? I’m so excited dude you haven’t posted in forever. I hope you have been doing well. Thanks for the uploads regardless!
My brain in a math exam
Spectacular! I especially love the bouncng ball segment starting at 4:00.
When i found this video i wondered is there a game made out of only aduio lines. I did some research and there isn't a game like that. I have been trying to search for it a loong time and i just gave up if anyone knows a game that is only made out of aduio lines pleas tell me.
This is insane because the graphic style is so much different and powerful than he could have ever done until now. 4:55 is a complete different level than what was done until then!!
Holy crap the 3d graph with the "voices" was cool enough, then you step it RIGHT UP with bouncing stretching spheres and animated hilbert curves on animated 3d planes WTF then the ending!
dude. this video has the most insane visuals EVER for an oscilloscope! to think that what i'm hearing is what i'm seeing is absolutely wild. you went crazy with this one and i love it! cant imagine how long this must have taken but the payoff for this amount of effort was huge. great stuff jerobeam! :D
I think that this music genre is possibly the smallest and most unique genre of music, if it's even a genre. However, it still manages to express, and maybe even entertain more than some other, more popular songs. The visuals are also very encapsulating, and I do feel that Jerobeam has improved since their first few oscilloscope software demos!
You're underestimating how esoteric people can be
I SPAWNED HERE
2:29 Ah sneaky! You smuggled in a sequencer to a function generator.
3:10 THE BELOVED SPIRAL IS BACK!!
Oscilloscope music is like a story, it introduces elements then repeats them together in sync.
3:58 Spiral's saying hi!
4:55 It's now bouncing on a fractal!
5:18 The erosion from circles!!
It's all coming back!
7:01 IT WAS A FRACTAL ALL ALONG
at 4:55 spiral is bouncing? It's a planet
No fucking way hes BACK
0:38 for some reason this gives me such flashbacks to when I used to listen to "Pong" by Eisenfunk. Just the beat, the sound, the visuals. Everything. I love it.
I'm glad I'm not the only one
you are not the last one
You ain't the only ones! :D
Trust me, speed 1,5x is the meta
I'm still yet to find anybody else that can do this black magic THIS well. It blows my mind that you can just plug in an oscilloscope and watch the music video on it. Amazing, keep it up!
there's a guy named Chris Allen who does this kinda music and they are impressive at what they do!
Yeah what the last guy said. Chris Allen is the real deal.
Synesthesia by Anthony Hall is great, sure it seems to be the only oscilloscope music they made but it strikes the balance between good sound and visuals.
@usurpvision my brother in christ, this is the *inventor* of this genre
almost threw up but i was worth it.
This made me enjoy music again
Also the ball is the cutest thing I have had the pleasure to witness in a *long* time
A new album? Can't wait!
Impressed by the animation of the spring ball bouncing on the rippling hilbert curve! It's a very creative and dynamic scene!

hello :) i found your how to make oscillated mushrooms video and i'm absolutely loving your content jero! keep up the great work
SWEET LORD THIS SONG IS SO AWESOME TO JUMP TO
never better than kriss kriss lol
This is incredible! I'm so glad that Smarter Every Day made that video with you all that while ago, this type of music and visuals are just so unique and I love that what I'm seeing is actually what I'm hearing, which is wild to think that sound can make such shapes.
Where they bad apple
This deserves so much appreciation! It's so cool! I've been following this channel loosely ever since I first heard about it and this video absolutely blew me away. Music is already a form of art, but the way the music and visuals build together in this to create a harmonious piece of art is really beautiful. I'm a fan of all of your work, but this is definitely the best I've seen from you. It's fun, entertaining, catchy, and almost hypnotic. Keep doing what you do, and keep being original and creative! Stay awesome!
I’m not sure if you’ll respond but are all your songs basically simulated utilizing trig functions in a sense?
Hey there! I know I'm not the one you asked, but I think I can help. Trig functions do play a part, but aren't the full suite of waveforms used to make these. For curves, trig functions are used pretty much exclusively by my understanding, but for straight lines and angles, square and triangle waves are used. An example of a square's waveforms can be seen in the kickstarter video on this channel (ua-cam.com/video/qnL40CbuodU/v-deo.html). Hope this helps, and feel free to ask me more questions!
Man the math behind this must be amazing. I bet a math teacher would be drooling seeing the genius math you made
That was the single most coolest thing I've seen in a long time!
YOUR WITNESSING PARALLELS TO THE FIRST COMPUTERS (ANALOG) USED TO SOLVE DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS. Hardwire constructed from Operational Amplifiers & discrete resistors & capacitors.
This is impressive and mesmerizing even if you have no idea what Oscilloscope Music is and how it is made.
And if you know both those things? Stellar, I think this is your best work yet, both visually and musically. Welcome back!
FOR MY MATH NERDS IN THE BACK *cranks bass
I still can't even imagine what computational trickstery is used to generate these.
Every video starts with a thought "okay, maybe I could sketch something like this in blender, and map to sounds in python..." And 3 minutes in, it starts turning into "nope, pure magic, my wizardry is out of league."
Every time.
Thank you)
i think he uses max/msp?
pretty sure you just need to make a scene in blender, export it to an svg and convert all the lines and coordinates to samples
Hilbert type beat
The first seconds had me wondering why this was in my music tab. Now I've got something new to blast on my headphones while riding my bike.
