The greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation.
When a great artist like Linda Ronstadt sings a song that I wrote with buddy Randell of the knickerbockers, it’s the ultimate high! I got to thank her in person backstage at the universal amphitheater in ‘82! She was super nice! Doesn’t get much better than that!
You co-wrote this song? You've got talent. But, as has become the common understanding, anything that Linda sang -- anything -- well, she sang it, and made it great.
Alfred Neuman thanks Alfred & so true about Linda. She could sing anything & make it her own! Her album of standards was another example of her talent! She is simply a great artist!!

Beau Charles I loved the knickerbockers version too!
Barbra Losel thank you Barbra
Linda Ronstadt is an American (and Arizonan) treasure. She was comfortable singing rock, pop, opera, country, folk songs (in Spanish too), contemporary...
Now that she no longer sings in public, I hope she looks back at her career and knows how much she and her music mean to the world.
Oh Linda...Linda...what vocals! NOBODY has that attack in female pop singing. Nobody. She could sing the phonebook and we'd be hummin' along.
Stefan your comment is right on !!!
True, Linda Ronstadt is the best female singer EVER ❤. Total CLASS.
Is there any song that Linda couldn't sing ? She does it all !!! Love her!!! Blessings !!!
Right lol ❣️
best female singer of ALL time
The drummer is kick ass not to mention the beautiful women singing
Wow...this is why I love UA-cam; all these gems you can stumble upon.....Linda we miss you and we love you; she is the song "nobody compares to you".....I have been in love with her since 1970.....
Me too.
EPIC Cover of One of the most brillant & Strongest vocalists...EVER !!! The Band is pretty good too 🤟🎹🎤🎸🪕
‘I Fought the Law’ would go great with this.
I didn't recall Linda covered "Lies" and "Tell Him". Excellent versions.
They are on the "Get Closer" CD.
Standing on the corner of punk street & new wave ave. She cherry picked a 60’s classic for her statement on the hottest trend at the time. Pushes all my buttons.
Well I certainly could have handled a 3rd song right there! I just thoroughly enjoyed that.
Man she was so beautiful what a angelic voice bring me to tears
Me too, always :)
The pride of Arizona! ¡Viva, Linda!
Linda's mother was from Michigan. Her parents got married at Court Street United Methodist Church in Flint. It's in the county records, but Gilbert's last name is misspelled "Bonstadt". Even the spell check just got it right! Linda's grandfather Lloyd Copeman was an inventor with over 700 patents. He invented the electric stove. His wife had asthma as I recall, and he invented an early air conditioner for her, and had a second home in Tucson, like people used to do for allergies and asthma. That's apparently where the family met up with the Ronstadts.
She could sing the phone book and it would be a hit
Nice job by Linda on the old Knickibockers song. I'm glad they kept that snarling guitar riff in there!
🙋♂️ I ♡ the 80's! Linda! 🌷 🇺🇸🎙🎸🌸🦋🎹 🌻 🇮🇷
Linda does an awesome job with this tune.....
How did I never hear this before? This is great
I know something about Love. And I LOVE Linda Ronstadt ❤.
beautiful Linda Ronstadt
Great one-two punch! Linda could sing ANYTHING!! And that band- damn!!
This song begged for a female artist to cover it, just like Pat Benetar did with "You Better Run.
Such an amazing song 🔥🤸♀️🪐💭🌌
Wow! Incredible vocals...and so cute ❤
I mean wow, this is how deliver a song, THE best version of Tell Him ever from one of my favourite lady singers.
¡¡¡MUCHAS FELICIDADES LINDA!!! TE QUEREMOS DESDE MADRID (Spain)
Ronstadt is so cute !! Is that Andrew Gold on the guitar?
Yes!
grandiosa vozzzzzz, tanto así que en todos los estilos suenas increíble!!!! Siempre te admiraré hasta mi muerte.
Linda, I love it! You are fabulous
She's brilliant.
Linda at her best doing the old Knickerbocker song Lies.
Love Linda! We are the same age......love her music!!!❤
Love her!!!!!!!!!
What a lovely little tart.🙃
Wow, Im a big LR fan, but just found this. I can hardly believe this.!!! The Knickerbockers were great one hit wonders, but Linda is off the charts good , Im talking this is so good that its in the stratosphere, I can barely get radar lock on this !!!! Im calling her the female Elvis...
such a voice and great girl
A bonus song! Love both these songs! Yippee!
How cool is this? Wow!
so beautiful and such an awesome voice. Perfect pitch and it just flows out of her.
She sings it with such ease. It's like there is no strain to her voice at all. No wonder she was capable of so many different types of music. Always wished I could sing one third as good.
Bonus! This just popped up on my playlist. First listen in 2021. The year isn't a total loss.
Oh I'm happy now right now! can't nobody steal my joy
Great set of pipes !
The 2nd song is out of this world!
Huh, I've never heard this song. One of the greatest American vocalist of a generation!! I think she could sing the phone book and sound great ;D
Love those eyes!
Those legs. Those eyes. That smile. Oh, and she can sing too.
I❤️Linda Ronstadt
People still think it was the Beatles that did this song back in the 60's. Sounded so much like them, one Beatle asked the others "when did we record this song" , it was the Knickbockers who made it famous...
Ah, Linda! this is how I know I'm not dead yet!😛😍
Adrian I love your post
She & CSN got me through my teenage years
What a voice!
Linda moves her shoulders so sweetly
What a cup cake!
Great cover of the old Knickerbockers tune
80s music is not my favorite era, but Linda makes it tolerable, almost fun. ;) Great band.
MrMusicguyma She made it look easy. What a voice
She's not really a singer from any particular generation. Both of these songs are old; not 80s. She transcends time and genre. Brilliant singer.
@@DebDellaPiana Right, I was referring to the 80s style of Linda's version, not the Knickbockers song from 1965. I agree that Linda is amazingly versatile, I have been listening to her closely since the late 1960s myself :)
80’s was one of the best decades for music, and I grew up in the 70’s, which is THE best decade for music. (IMO)
What a great song songs !
Good evening Miss Linda.l take this little moment's to wishing your a happy thanksgiving.enjoy just like l enjoy your music and God blessed your.
No one better ever
Fun.....Lovely! SMILE!!!!!
The more you hear this song the better it gets
Not that we don't know but her greatness really shines if you check out the 1983 live version vs this one. This canned video is nice if lip synched with a little more hamming it up than usual but hear it live.
Happy happy birthday miss Linda Ronstadt sweetness goodness love you so much😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍.
I love her dearly
Fantastic singer!#
The queen of Rock.
Wm Seidel WHY THE FUCK AM I YOUNGER THAN EVERYBODY IN THE COMMENT SECTIONS WHEN I COMMENT ON LINDA RONSTADT SONGS AND HAVE TO CORRECT SO MANY PEOPLE IT AIN'T EVEN FUNNY???? LINDA WAS NEVER EVER EVEN THE SLIGHTEST BIT CLOSE TO ROCK A DAY IN HER LIFE. NEVER. NOT EVEN CLOSE. SHE WAS COUNTRY AND POP. MAYBE A LITTLE BLUES. SHE IS TALENTED AS FUCK BUT NOWHERE CLOSE TO ROCK. I AM ONLY 24 AND KNOW THAT. YOU WANT 70s/80s FEMALE ROCK LISTEN TO TALENTED PAT BENETAR OR TALENTED JOAN JETT. ALSO THE R IN ROCK DON'T NEED CAPITALIZING
countrygirl country musiclover You're 24 and don't know shit!
I've know Linda since 1970. We in the Music World gave her the title "Queen Of Rock" because she was the first Lady of Rock! You don`t know anything about Linda or Rock! Do some research kid!
countrygirl country musiclover Relax a little you weren’t there. She sang rock ‘n’ roll pop she Help create the country rock sound she sang Opera Soul Mariachi Afro Cuban pop
@@countrygirlcountrymusiclov5831 Ronstadt gave birth to Jett & Benatar just like Elvis gave birth to the Beatles. If you don't consider ua-cam.com/video/OUBjRg5KP7E/v-deo.html rock & roll, yoi don't know shit about rock & roll. Go back to listening to Billie Eilish.
I want all of the fans of LINDA RONSTADT to be safe this Labor Day Weekend!
Oh yes...play it again!
Dang, I love this girl!!
Wow!!!! 💜
Time warp cool fun and very hard to outdo
2024 and this still sounds great!
Fine double play!
What a great video - she looks amazing! She first sang LIES on her HBO concert special back in late 1980, which was a big deal at the time, on early cable TV! LIES was the only new song she did on that concert - it featured many of her hits, especially those from her most recent album MAD LOVE. Then she did the studio version that appears on GET CLOSER (late 1982).
I didn't know she had covered these songs! Love it!
A good cover of the old Knickerbockers tune "Lies". Styx also performed this tune.
Weren't the Exciters the first to record this one. Always thought they were so just asking.
I need this sweater
Tell Him is fantastic and should have been a single! Prefer it to the Exciters. I lamented the fact that she aborted the music styles followed on the Mad Love/Get Closer albums but when you consider what she did in the following decade or two, I think she may have been keen to prove that she could do anything and everything. She certainly achieved that!
And how cool is that jumper...who says the 80s had bad fashion lol
I was thinking about that. And wondering if composers might have been kinda in a dry spell during that time? She could have fit one or two pop rock albums during the Nelson Riddle project. Protect which I love btw. She picked up where she left in 89 btw
@@penaunger8707 True. Then again, Linda would look great in a burlap bag.
great song great version great video!
Beauttyfull
Nick cage playing that 🎸
Playing what?
My sweet love...
LINDA, GIMME THOSE PIPES!!!! I'M DYING TO HAVE THOSE.
Love this. I don't think Mad Love or Get Closer are on CD. Too bad. She's fabulous
Great gorgeous lungs wrapped around a rollicking tune.
🎶🌊🌊🌀
🎶💕🕊🌟LINDA RONSTADT💕✨🙏
Why do all the Bass players end up with the finest ladies ever?
💜
Linda is the greatest and Blondie is close second
The "LONELY BOY" Andrew Gold(RIP) is playing rhythm guitar on TELL HIM.
Russ, Kootch, Dan, Glaub and Andrew. Not too shabby of a band, huh?
It’s so fulfilling to have these incredible musicians backing a great singer performing a song that I wrote with the late great Buddy Randell in 1965! Thanks from the knickerbockers!!!!
Música de fundo usada durante o fecho de emissão da RTP2 de 1982, seguido de um quadro de programação para o dia seguinte da RTP2 de 1983.
I know the feeling
Ahhhh while I had enjoyed the early 80s I still wanted the miniskirts of the later 60s. At least the skirts were getting shorter than they had been in the 70s
I've posted hundreds of comments (literally) about LR's magnificent voice, her knowledge of musical history, her attitude about her Parkinsons, etc, etc, ETC but here I can't resist commenting about her subtle sex appeal. She's innocently coquettish in this 80s outfit. I just love all things Ronstadt
Me too 🙂
OMG.
This was never on MTV. I wonder why. good video I was surprised to find Tell Him on here, too. Linda's is good, but Josie Cottons version was even better. Laura Branigan also did a cover of the song. Since covering pre 1967 hippy rock was such a big part of new wave, Linda was far ahead of them. Her whole career was covering early rock songs before it became in vogue(eg I cant let go, Its so easy, That'll be the Day, Just one Look, ooh baby baby, Back in the USA)
Good "two-fer"!
👍 is the best
And here she is singing rock and roll. Name a genre she couldn't sing, because I haven't found any.
