I know everybody is on here giving you advice on how to weld and you are prob getting tired of it. So... heres some advice on welding:
1) pull the fert buggy into an area where you have decent sunlight.
2) using your cellphone, take several pictures of the crack on the buggy.
3) send the aforementioned pictures to your neighbor, Ned ( everybody has a Ned), who is a much better welder than you because he breaks things all the time.
4) tell Ned that your dad has just stocked the fridge with beers from many lands. Be very clear to Ned that the repair of the fert cart will precipitate the consumption of many, if not all the beers from many lands
5) after hanging up the phone, you will hear Neds 20 year old pickup truck screeching to a halt in your driveway. Ned, his welding hood, his dog (Rufus), and half a can of Genesee will emerge from the truck.
6) after spitting a bunch of tobacco on your shop floor, Ned will don his hood, say, " where did you put the damn side grinder?", and immediately fix you problem
7) While Ned is putting his tools back into his pickup and yelling for Rufus to stop peeing in the shop, you MUST ( and this is very important), have a cold beer waiting to hand to him before the creaky door to the pickup slams shut.
8) Of course, since it is now raining, you are obligated to sit and drink the beers from many lands with Ned as he regales you with tales of why his mother in law hates him. Also, your dad should be prepared to answer the all important question from Ned, " How the hell do you rate a new jacket from the seed rep when all that cheap SOB gave me was a hat and two pens that dont work?"
9) at this point, your empty beer can receptacle will be full and if you can find your way back to the house and Rufus can drive Ned back to his house, you will have had a great farming day
Alex .......you win comment of the day!
@@mikemoore8135 thanks Mr Moore, but I was kinda bored so I wrote way too much. I've been on Auto Steer essentially since 6 am. Other than move between fields, I got bored so I checked everybody's youtube, ordered spray, and performed a lobotomy on myself. Thanks for the compliment tho
Their Ned is named Andy
@@robsonne are you sure? In these parts, most Andy's work for the county road dept. Btw.. if anybody knows anything about Auto Steer, I think I have a problem. I'm farming in Ohio and I just saw a sign that said, " Welcome to Canada"
Alex Drake your funny! Do you have a youtube channel?
I look forward to your dad's series of lectures on "the different types of rain". Great video!
“Lemon flavored Dippin’-Dots” ....that is hilarious🤣😆😁😆
M. Gibson It’s the Ice Cream Of The Future! They’ve been saying that since the first time I saw the stuff at the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo in 84.
“Where they goin?” Hahahahaha
Love the ending. Rocking with the tunes !
On future similar projects you need to drill a hole at the end of the crack. This will stop the crack from continuing. Great vid and channel.
I know you're just wanting more advice on your welding project, next time use a grinder to V the crack out then weld . Do the same process on the other side . Next time you are in town buy some metal ( 6"× 12" ) to plate over your repair . Good videos !
Couldn’t have said it better myself
Next crack weld repair, drill a small hole 1/8 " or so where the crack ends, then weld right over the drilled hole this will stop the crack from continuing to form.
As for checking oil I had a carb float valve stick on a gas engine filled the crankcase with gasoline, would have lost that engine if not checked. thanks for the vids!
Great tip!
Rainy day humor is the best. Hard to believe there’s a farm without a scrap iron pile or a implement graveyard to find flat iron. However your welds look just fine.
That hot rolled steel iron is very very hard to weld good welding over all love the vlog
Great video, nice welds! I agree with the 'ear plug' suggest when welding the way you were Cole. I know no one's perfect but it strikes me you be blessed to have the Father you have - his sense of humor is TOPS. Me thinks I know where you got your sense of humor. Watching your Dad bebopping to the music while driving at the end of the video leads me to wonder if maybe he listened to some George Thorogood back in the day?!?! Anyhoo...keep rolling out the great videos, stay safe, be well and thank you all for hanging tough doing what your doing during this pandemic craziness! Ciao for now...
Love George Thorogood! I drink alone is a great song!
@@briansonne814 Me too - I drink alone because I'm bad to the bone. I could go on and on with the George Thorogood lines. I operated a CAT D11 for awhile and - MAN - I felt bad to the bone in that beast. Some days I'd be hoarse from singing B-B-BAD. Stay safe - be well.
Your videos are great. Just homegrown down to earth videos. Keep it up! Your dad seems like such a cool guy, a guy you could sit and have beer with all night and just have a hell of a good night. Keep it up my friend!
I appreciate that!
Another Great video. It is just a glimpse of all of the different things you guys go through. No wonder why you guys have a great sense of humor about your craft. I hope the Great Value sponsorship comes through.
Tractors are huge! It was really put into perspective around the 8 min mark where your dad was at the front of the tractor. Love seeing big machinery ;)
love the relationship you and your dad has he has very good sense of humor !! keep the videos coming stay safe !!
Cole, great videos. I happened to come upon your channel and have been doing some binge watching making this lockdown more tolerable for me. Would love to hear about the history of your family farm. How long has it been in your family, how did it start? Did it start small and then more acreage added? Also, very interested in the cattle/herd. How did your family get started with cattle? How many does your family own? Where do you buy/sell them? Your videos are very interesting. Keep up the good work. Anxiously awaiting your next video. Thanks.
Same experience I had too regarding Desani ! This was 2 yrs ago !
You're a rock star guys. 👍
If you drill a hole at the end of the crack before welding and then plug the small hole while welding it'll help relieve the stress at the end of the crack and your weld will be even stronger..
Great welding job!!! Love your videos. From Indiana.
Awesome! Thank you!
Hope the weather gets better there we been done planting for a week now waiting for some rain after last couple years can't believe I'm anxious for rain
It's so frustrating when you have to wait on fertilizer. I feel your pain! Another good video, keep them coming.
I love the fact that your honest about the jobs you dislike, shows how you have do things ya don't always like in life..
Haha like the checking oil!
Thanks!
Awww the Dog wanted a scratch while you were fueling lol.. Dogs gotta love them !
Your Dad's wardrobe is definitely "Farm Fresh." Tell him I'm sorry I had to leave, my wife was calling me to "supper." Yes I'm using "supper" as a euphemism.
Stay safe guys! Love the videos!!
Great video. Love how you dad where they going at the end of the video. Also the "Big Fat Rain". That should go on one of your shirts. Tell your dad to keep working on trying to get some sponsors and one of them will give in one day.
Fat rain? You always make me smile.
Not a bad looking weld. You are right about needing a bigger piece of flat, about a foot bigger. Preheating the crack is a must too before you weld. You can do it later when you have more time. Good vid. Peace.
Great job, Cole!
Thanks!
There's one for the tee shirts...
"There's all kinds of rain"
Fat Rain or Dry Rain??
You are good at welding mate
Your mom must be a patient person to put up with you two wise guys. It appears you got to the point of diminishing return with the Coop about the fertilizer and rightfully so. Great video today!
Nice welding Cole ,i was very impressed !
Like the new jacket and in husky size....and he was right he paid for it 😊
You two crack me up. Thank you
Welding is a must for on the farm. The the weld on the cart looks Good continue on
Nice welds, your dad taught you well.
He's got a as many sponsors as a race car driver. I can hear him now after seeding a field, "I'd first like to thank God, the John Deere (insert model here) ran great today, the seeder seemed to do the job, carhart for keeping me warm, etc etc" lol
Look at him go with the movie references, there's all kinds of rain - spoofing Forrest Gump lol
you did a super job welding, really great video funny, you guys are great, very entertaining, instructive, great to watch thanks
Banana split dip 'n dots are hands down best.
LOL Too funny. Man the looks you give your dad, just crack me up. I hope he gets a sponsor. HAHA
Yeah , you should be happy with that weld. Sounded good when welding it. It may hold pretty good, you'll have see.
Great video!
Thanks for the visit!
#6:50 in before we saw the star of the channel. :) Great video as always!
Great video.
Thanks!
Great video Cole lol your dad is the best. Hope ya'll are getting the seed in the ground.
I can see why well a reason as to why it cracked/broke. When u were backing it into the barn the rear tire was barely touching the ground. All the weight is on the tongue of the spreader. Thts just my impression/opinion.
hey the weld job looks very good , sounded like a good burn in to it , if you dont have enough plate fine till you do , thanks for the show , still catching up on the video's
Peace Blessings , Craig ,
Just think, another 450,000 subscribers and everyone will be banging on your door wanting you and your Dad to showcase their products.
Disconnect tractor from trailer before welding.Good job!
Cole and Brian, good video. You made a "boring" farm day interesting.
Thanks 👍
Medal patch is called a scab
Lemon flavored dippin dots 😂😂😂
"Momma said there's lots a kinds of rain..... big fat ones..." hey we just had 4" of the white fluffy rain...... hate them kinds.
I wish we got rain here... Just wind, wind and more wind.... With a little "summer snow"
“I’ll lecture ya”...
🤣
Ha ha ha
Just love you guys 😎😎
Cole , you are a man of many talents
So true Desani water is terrible
Hello from your fan in Finland :))))))))))))))
Hello there!
You need to cut 2 do an plates out of flat plate steel. Wield 1 inside and 1 outside of the frame after you run a bead in the crack and grind it down
Overlap on the welds three times the width
You can't leave us hanging like that... sideways rain..stinging rain...
big ol fat rain
Toad Drowning Rain
Great video! You guys are awesome! Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
Awesome Video as Always!!!
You're the best!
Best water is Poland Spring. It's from Maine 👍
Bummer that the three point is hitched so low... there’s a lot of lean on the towing arm... that steel frame is just trailer framing too...
Cole its like you farm in a swamp. There is water laying every where. Is there no ditches and tile drainage in your area ,or is it so flat there is not enough fall to get drainage??
Tough break on fertilizer coming late and the rain showing up. That’s life. What you gonna do? Go with the flow. Hey, your cooler looked liked it needed some Dr Pepper.
No scrap steel? Weld looks pretty good
You're right Brian -- you paid for that sweatshirt, even if it was "free"! LOL! Enjoyed sharing in your day of hodgepodge work ... that's what happens some days ... a little this, a little that.
Yal had a good day guys good video yal stay safe Daniel from central Mississippi
I loved it when you burnt a hole in your pants.....what you said made me smile so Thank you for that. I would also like to say that you are smoking..Lol
hope you get your planting DONE SOON !!!!!
my water of choice is “Sam’s Purified Drinking Water” exclusively at Walmart. 😜
Nice video!!!😁😁😁
Glad you liked it!!
Those gloves your dad has look very comfy
gotta say it: Dad's the real mvp!
Cole are you limping? You ok buddy?
ha probably, ive had a couple knee surgeries a few year back
Big ole FAT rain! 🤣
Sorry you didn’t get more done
It’s snowing in Ohio today I can’t believe it have a great day
It's cooole the cow star
Looks like that was a WET rain ?
i forgor to mention bush light and st archer gold best beer
That Sonne mosquito pond in front of the house you ever thot of putting something in it besides the dog?
SD rain varities!
Not saying that won’t work but next time you have a crack in something take a drill bit and drill a hole at the end of the crack then weld it tight
nice welding
Thanks 👍
Dad rockin ZZ-Top ?!
Are you aware that the brake on the left rear tire of the fertilizer wheel is sticking? around 1:10 or the video.
Alright, it may not be the brake, but the wheel isn't turning.
Is SD rain different from PA rain?
Cole, you seemed a little "off" in this video. Hope all is well. 💗
Yes I am going. But not far. Until next time.
Do you have a ditch shovel head. That's not rusty. To use as welding materials.
This is Emo Salari I live in chicago. love your channel watch it frequently. I always wanna be a farmer but never came through. I don't like city life I was hunter and fisherman since 12 years old so hope I can be friend someday with your Dad and come up for some duck and pheasant hunt I am the same age of your dad. i am putting my name maybe I get lucky to wine the tractor Best Regards Emo
A piece about 6- 8 inches shaped in a dimond elongated with an elongated whole is the correct way repair something like that. The design of the patch should normally last the life of the machine. I have done a lot of welding on our own farms and others and watched engineers and other welders repair etc.
The patch should be equal width or better thannparent metal on the job.
You should have been welding going vertical up. You might have a crack show up later
Mt dew, I miss that for sure can't get it here in the UK 🙁
Are you quarantined in South Dakota ? I know for sur they are in Minnesota
South Dakota is the most relaxed state I think
I would buy some of your dads whit on a shirt.
Pops was jammin, almost as cool as Jeff
Wait till you get one of those hot bee bee's in your ear, I was lucky that I had some wax for it to sizzle through before it reached the eardrum. I wore earplugs after that while welding. Safety first, last, and always.
