Y'all remember the OVA with Mikasa? The one where she monologues while watching a praying mantis, which foreshadows Mikasa cutting Eren's head off just like how a mantis would eat the head of their mate. What a wonderful end to an over a decade long story.

I read the manga and was very satisfied by the ending. Then i go on the internet and find out everyone hates it. Now a lot of these people wanna act as if the anime was "different from the manga", which it isn't. They can't just admit they jumped on the hate bandwagon or that they just didn't understand the ending. I'm guessing these people expected world peace? So Eren wasn't trying to stop war, he was trying to give his friends a peaceful life. It's why he propped himself up to be THE villain so that his friends could kill him and be the heroes of the world and that would stop war for awhile. Also why he wiped out 80% because even though the number of people outside Paradis and the rest of the world are now equal. Logistically speaking for the rest of the world to rally an attack would take YEARS to coordinate and recover from the Rumbling. Eren knew he couldn't end human's need for war... but he hoped to give his friends AT LEAST a period of peace and he did that cause you can see various friends visiting the tree casually over time and it's not till thousands of years later when Paradis is destroyed in a war... cause humans gonna human.

I don't know how people are considering Aot ended poorly. So realistic that the whole show people disliked Mikasa because she just had Eren as lines that she was the one to kill him and show Ymir she can't free herself from the love that hurt her. Also the fact that Paradis got reprisal from the world from idk how many years later. That's literally the message of this show and Yelena literally said it "As long as mankind will be different there will always be an enemy" because of this fear of death. That's just so fitting to this show idk what to tell you.
The only thing i find very hard to believe is except Eren nobody else we personally knew died during the battle but really good ending. I also like that this story isn't as dumb as "He became enemy public number 1 so the rest of the world joined together and peace remained forever" because that just isn't realistic at all.
Also thank Ruffy for being transparent on getting spoiled and people just do stuffs like that because they want attention. I remember reading a specific jjk chapter and being so empty inside because after i saw a friend sending just one panel of that chapter in a group chat. I was sitting there like why though ? I wasn't spoiled I had already read it but the others were all angry. I don't understand them and mankind will never understand each other so I just let it slide now. Just try to be happy I guess.

Considering there's been many deaths throughout the entire show, i don't think it's a problem. Hanji just died previously, so it'd be less impactful for her if we kept getting death scenes right after her sacrefice. Also Zeke sacreficed himself to stop the rumbling, so there was 1 major death. And also Eren of course, like you said. Anymore death's and it would've lessened the value of these characters i think.
Completely agree it would've been dumb for Eren to just bring world peace, becouse that's not how the world works. Idk how people expected that outcome, it's not a fairytale. Guessing it's Code Geass fans who don't understand how their ending was trash.

      @@heyitsquang285 What was the plotholes?
Some people have stockholm syndrome, it's a real thing. Also Ymir wasn't part of our main cast, she was more of a plot device. Her relevance isn't as big as the characters we've followed throughout the show.
Wrong on the third one, idk why so many people misunderstand this. Eren's decisions were all his own. He shaped the future. It was just that the decisions he made, turned the future into what it was. Had he made different choices, then his visions of the future would've been different from the beginning. But becouse he made the choice to use the rumbling, that's the reason he saw the future of him doing the rumbling. It was inevitable, but it was inevitable becouse this is what he wanted to do.
I'll give an example. I know in the future that i'd order a pizza, rather than cooking rice and chicken. I could change that outcome any moment, but i still choose to order pizza at the end of the day. Becouse that's what i wanted. My decision here was the reason why i previously got visions of ordering pizza. Makes sense?

For the not depressing enough part, too many of the characters survived. The AOE people wanted Eren to win and live with the consequences in the anime timeline and then cut to the destruction of Paradis scene later to remind people that humans will always fight.

There are three reasons what I think Hajime Isayama was trying to convey in process of making Attack on Titian📖
1.)You matter: A lot of people in this world grew up in households were their parents expects greatest from them and when they don’t live up to their parents expectations they can often feel like they don’t matter. Eren who is the main character of Attack on Titan his mom Carla says “When it comes to my child it’s fine if he never great he doesn’t have to be better than anyone he is already special because he was born into the world”(Carla) Isayama wants everyone to know they don’t have to be the president, football athlete, actor, singer and Rapper to even exist in this world you matter simply because your alive and you have a good head on your shoulders💯
2.)Hatred: Hate will always exist in this world like it or not you always going to find that one person who hates you cause you look different act different, and talk different Isayama wants us to understand despite all the hatred in this world that should not stop us from trying to shine love and peace in this world.
3.) Freedom conclusion: A lot people slave to something in this world Hajime Isayama believes you should do what you want and don’t fall into the habit of pleasing others cause you end being a slave to them forever if you do. I totally agree with him everyone should live for themselves once and awhile traveling, explore, and do what makes you happy. Eren Yeager wishes he can do what we all are doing which is traveling places with our friends and family seeing places and meeting people but he couldn’t cause of his circumstances but that didn’t stop him from doing so he still chase his freedom despite being a slave to not being able to be free
I’m truly grateful that I’m alive and well to see your series come to end thank you Hajime Isayama I pray we meet someday soon my friend🙏🏽🙌🏽

Also some scenes felt like they had missing pieces so they didn't land as well but other than that as much as it pains me to see this non-happy ending, it deserves to conclude this way. I couldn't cry but throughout this whole episode I could feel my emotions deep down sink to the bottom of my stomach.

I love your comment about how people gave you crap for hating Reiner in the beginning, And those same people refuse to accept that Eren becomes the monster in the end. They can accept Reiner going from bad to good, but can't accept the opposite from Eren.
You also have it completely right, other people that disliked the ending wanted Mikasa to save Eren and him ending up the hero and ending up with her and then they didn't get it.

aot will always have a place in my heart and i think this is the best outcome of everything. the show was unpredictable and all the decisions made by the characters were best represented on how they were thinking and what they were experiencing in the most realistic way that it could. ending it on a happy note would take you out of the world and make you feel like all you felt, cried, and got angry about was for nothing. this show just represents how the world works and unfortunately the cycle will always repeat itself, whether you destroy and erase everything you can, even if you are on the same side and everyone thought the same, one person will be born who will not and the influence of them will start a whole new war. aot was my first anime that got me into anime as a genre in hs, this show was a masterpiece and im glad i got to experience it.

I think the ending debacle in the manga was less what the ending was and more so how it ended. Execution is so important and the slight changes the anime made to adapt it gave it way more justice. If you read the last 3 manga chapters back to back you could see how different it feels. This had more breathing room and it was just what it needed to make it work so much better.

The point of the time loop was that it was NOT already determined. It was determined based on what HE wanted to achieve. He clearly changed things (Bertholdt) for his goal to be achieved. So he's stuck in a loop of his own making.
He never listened to others, he never really tried Armin's way (only halfheartedly, though he'd alredy decided). The reason the "I'm an idiot who got power" remark is important is that it's Eren admitting he only did what he knew to do and was helpless to change it. He took the "attack and kill" route because that's all he knows, instead of choosing the hard road.
Eren made the choice and then couldn't take it back.
It was great of Armin to empathize and try to find a way to take some of the burden off him, but he killed 80% of humanity and in the end:
    - his friends were outcasts at the island living not knowing when some jaegerist qould target them
    - he became a martyr to a warring faction that is very clearly depicted visually as akin to nazism
    - they got a temporary respite then years down the line, the island was destroyed.
So, he failed quite badly and wasn't justified for his actions.
Eren fanboys hate the fact it portrayed him as kind of sad and pathetic. But that's the point. That's why 80% of humanity died.

    • @Grimbear13
      @Grimbear13 7 місяців тому +3

I'd disagree that he failed his objective... his objective was never "Stop War" or "Save Humanity"... it was to give his friends a chance at a happy full life... and he did that cause you can see the various people coming to the tree and no war reached Paradis until thousands of years in the future when all the buildings are future tech.
Also I am someone who's been ride or die w/ Eren since the jump and I love that scene of him breaking down. Cause its the first time we get to see how he REALLY feels about things. Not a face he has to put up for him to achieve his goal of no more titans. I agree that he's an idiot who was so fixated on his goal which is why he said he's a slave to freedom cause even though now as the Founder he was "free" to do as he willed it was basically a pre-determined fate because for him past/present/future were all the same and everything he tried to change it had no impact.

    • @carlosriveraauthor
      @carlosriveraauthor 7 місяців тому +1

@@Grimbear13 sure, killing 80% of the world was totally worth it to give his friends a temporary respite.
I've learned not to argue with Eren fanboys because nothing rational you say will ever result in them not excusing what he did, so, really not gonna bother. I'll just point you to what he himself said: "I'm a garden variety idiot who got his hands on some power." And yet people still find there's some way to justify his actions.
      Enough said.

It's why civil conversation online is dead and everyone immediately resorts to throwing stones (funny enough JUST like in AoT) . But I'm here in these communities to have discussions not to fight people so I'll continue on.
But no I'm not justifying what he did, I understand how he got there though. And I can't say if I lived his same life I wouldn't be tempted to make the same decisions. The eradication of 80% of the world is obviously not something that it's like WOO YEAH BABY GO EREN... but I understand his thought process of why he did it based on what he saw and his experiences. When they made the trip to Marley in disguise that was him trying to give the outside world a chance. After from his perspective they are the ones who started the whole fight because they invaded Paradis and destroyed his village. Then when he goes to the council meeting he hears them completely declare war on them and they're going to gather the ENTIRE WORLD to attack them and that's when he knew he had to do something to prevent it.
Once again I agree with you that he was dead set ONLY on his plan without considering other plans, he had real I'm the Main Character vibes the whole story. And he obviously went to the absolute extreme with his plans and ideals but I understand how and why he got there and the other side didn't do anything to show they weren't going to just eradicate them with their overwhelming numbers without even consideration because they are a lesser people based on shit that happen 1000s of years ago. Think of how many Marleans were piles of shit there were like 100s to one Falco who seemed to actually get it. Gabi took getting saved by Eldeans like 10x before she actually started to come around and for Eren war was on the horizon so he made his decision to strike first strike fast and then play Zeke to try and get the power he needed to level the playing field so that his friends could live out their lives free from the titans and mostly devoid of war.

You're 100% right that he's selfish, brash, stupid. I'm not over here thinking he is some master strategist akin to Griffith in Berserk or something. He had an idea of what he thought was best and ham fistedly barreled through to make it reality consequences be damned.

The alliance talked about this last episode and that's why they were trying to find him to kill him, bc it was the easier way to stop the rumbling, to take the person with royal blood away from Eren, making impossible for him to use the power of the founder to make the colossals move.

I think ppl interpret eren saying he's an idiot as like a throw away comment. Eren is saying with who I am, the knowledge I have I'm not smart enough to think of a way around the future ymir is striving for he is a slave to freedom BUT he's an idiot with power. So with the power he does have he comes up with a way to not only satisfy ymir but also save his friends all of them (rip sasha). If he were smarter yeah maybe he could've devised a plan to end war forever no retaliation, keep his friends alive, and eradicate titans but there just a way. At least one he could devise.
Now as yall rewatch this amazing anime look for adult eren and or moments where you see he pops into the paths to talk to armin in different times. Great reaction. Tbh, I hated the ending and always will. I've thought about it for a really long time. I have concluded that Isayama dropped the story and rushed it at the end. It's easy to get caught up in the recency bias of watching this story that had such good action. However, when you really think about the logical progression of the show, you will notice a lot of plotholes and failed character arcs. Most people that didn't like the ending feel this way because they mutilated Eren's character. It was a really weak ending and resolution for where the story was going.
Eren not going through with his plan, Armin's failed choice of being the leader, Mikasa being the "main character" is laughable, failed Historia arc, plot contrivances in Falco having flight (why were there no other flying titans throughout history?), failed Jaegerist agenda plotline, unresolved hallucigenia plot, creepy necrophilia from Mikasa, Ymir being "in love" is what caused this mess and she wanted to see something so trivial that she caused a cycle of hatred (she could not have possibly been in love lol), the list just goes on and on.
There's a lot of good and deeply powerful moments. Regardless of how I felt about the ending, I loved the story from a very profound place in my heart. I've never spoiled it for anyone and allowed all of my friends to go through this journey while having conversations with them about it throughout the years... it's been a fantastic time. But that doesn't mean I can forgive this rushed ending. After the decade of waiting, fantasizing, theorizing, and researching this lore, I can not reconcile in my head that it ended this way.
I respect anyone's opinion on the ending, but I will insist that you do not judge others for how they feel about the ending. Try to get an understanding of why they may feel that way instead of judging them instantaneously. I understand that your connection and love for the show can temporarily blind you to the plight of another, but seriously try to understand the other side.

Not alot of things changed in the ending. The only thing that was changed, is that they added that Armin was gonna share Eren's sins, and that they are going to see eachother again, in hell.
As a manga reader, i loved this subtle change.
I dont know how people will think about this ending, i've already had over 2 years to think about it and consider what it all means. As far as i know, in Japan, the ending isnt thought of as weird or out of the box. Its attack on titan. Of course in the end the problems isn't the titans. Erwin said this very early: Who do you think the "enemy" is? Its humans. Conflict will never end. If we take away a weapon of mass destruction, at some point humanity will find something to bicker about, and they will just go to and make a new weapon to use.
Conflict is inevitable, but at least Eren's friends where able to make the best of it, and live their lives happily.

@@AM17titan he doesn’t wanna be the king, he’s a whole jester. Ereh even asked Reiner why his mom had to die after he knew that he killed her. Comparing him to the flash is laughable. Flash allows his mother to die to prevent the timeline from destroying other people’s lives. Ereh kills his mom to commit genocide. 🤣

@@AzulApe Okay but consider what'll happen if Eren never had this insane hatred of titans.
Paradis would just straight up be gone in some Marleyan attack with very little resistance lmao.
He probably saw all that too, which is why we got the timeline that we got.

Seeing Historia being a good mother and celebrating her child's birthday and doting on her makes me so happy because it means she's not repeating the cycle of abuse she was burdened with by her own mother. She also didn't necessarily want nor plan for the baby, but she stepped up and raised her as a proper parent. I know she loses a lot of focus from the plot after season 3 and she seems to regress character wise to some but...I think she didn't. She got to live a full life with her kid doing what she loved. She got to be selfish and live for herself for once. I see that as a win tbh.

    Ellen is the biggest sacrifice.
Ellen abandoned everything and saved her friends and everyone after that.
If the giants didn't disappear, children fought to become soldiers, discrimination continued, and parents were forced to feed their children forever. What I've seen since episode 1 has been repeated.
Ellen couldn't change the future. Ellen was a puppet.
That was finally freed by Mikasa.
