I honestly played for so long... I never knew you could push zombies... Thanks!
mans got a sponsor now
Opera also allows you to skip ads on UA-cam without even watching them
A man deserves it
Dayumn, my man got a sponsor! I'm happy for you man, can't wait to see you grow even more! I want to see you hit 100K subs!
U have sponsors now‼️‼️
after far too many hours of playing this game, I still learned something new. Thanks for the video. >> playing with the mouse does seem to allow you to check your surroundings mid fight a lot more efficiently too.
I just wanted to congratulate You on Your first sponsorship Iron man!
Great combat demonstration and tutorial video You've got here Brian.
All the best for You and Your Family ... ✌
Thank you so much Solus 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed the video man
A few years playing and you just updated and upgraded my fun like a 1000%! Excellent video!! 🙏🏼
Glad to help!
Great guide @Brian Menard, learned some new tricks and had fond memories of the first few play through brought on by other tricks. Thank you
I’m glad you enjoyed it man 😁👍🏼
Powerhouse and close combat are my favorite combo in LZ. Be able to grapple from the front plus quick execution and no repair cost works for me. Drop kick also effective against feral. Awesome video!!
Yes that is my ideal set up I love it
Bro just subbed there, definitely deserve it man. I learn loads from your vids. They’re very clear, concise and well put together
Old dog, new tricks.
I have an embarrassing amount of hours in this game (4k+) and I so under use the zed toss technique. I've known about it all along and just don't utilize it as I should. Time to start unlearning some bad habits.
Gratz on the sponsor and thanks a ton for another informative guide.
Thank you so much!!! 😁
@@BrianMenard how do you do it?
There's a bug you can use when you use heavy weapons, you back to the zombie far away them, turn around and attack, you will teleport to hit the very far away zombie. I use that hit one down then keep on execute them. If I have no chance, I will go around them, then keep the operation like I mentioned. And that why I like heavy weapons.
Just got this game 3 days ago and had my first game of Daybreak last night. I had been doing Daybreak without big melee weapon because I'd realised it killed them quicker after watching another video. This is super helpful I'm already decent at melee combat and this is the missing linkn
Not just a guide for beginners, I have had sod2 for a while, and I learned something new, I just want to say though, there is a better way to kill a downed zombie without using weapon durability, it's literally stomping the head, unless you only have a close combat weapon,
Many people overlook [kick] I would recommend everyone form a list of moves. Even the worse combat ability in this game can be functional with the right combination of other variables to perform a specific task. Case in point: Many Bounty broker missions rely on your ability to use every combat skill at least once, some are combinations. Hold zed while ally executes for example is one. Name of the quest or what pack it is in eludes me. Once you can use the moves as they could be called out to you, more and more places where a specific move, even if not an execute works in your favor.
Yeah very true I skipped over that because I forgot about it 🤣
Dude, you look like Jai Courtney from Jack Reacher lol ✌ enjoy your videos!
Well done my man, congrats on the sponsor
Congrats on the sponsor man! :D
Just returning to SoD2, first stop BM's combat guide. Cheers Brian. 👍🤜
I played this game a lot and I still didn't know a lot you have shown in this video.
bladed weapons has things like bastard of belleau wood with the its only weakness being knockback and impact but the speed and lethality covers the lack of impact plus bladed uses up less durability in terms of any other weapon. with blunt weapons however the only thing that comes close is the metal bat which is literally weaker in all other stats with a smidge exception is in impact and durability which is literally nothing when you multi-hit and has to rely on executions which means you hit things almost three times as much and it still wont be able to compare even if you consider the fact that you can hit enemies which can cover for the lack of speed and lethality (apocalypse bat comes very close but its on a dlc) and the others have too much stamina usage to continuously use against groups which is what they are meant to be used for... the main advantage of a high ease of use weapon is that getting interrupted while trying to recharge stamina doesn't hurt as much as when it does on other weapons which will constantly leave you panting and the only real thing that uses up a lot of stamina are the executions... you can avoid relying on executions for bladed weapons but blunt requires you to use them consistently and guess what? blunt requires you to knock them down with normal attacks before you can execute them and that means that it requires more than two times as much stamina usage than blades (not sure about grand slam) but if you use something like the metal bat with great ease of use then it wont be as stamina extensive to use plus with blunt weapons you can make your own breathing room using knockback so what you really want in a blunt weapon is its ease of use along with knockback. heavy weapons has the same flaws of a blunt weapon but and I recently found out that you can do a single target flying attack with a heavy or blunt while only using a nudge of stamina so that's out of the equation.
Thank u for the videos and tips
just like in SOD 1 they don't tell you a bunch of things and moves that you can do. thanks for the tips bro
Nice video! But how in the world do you throw explosives behind you as your character runs??? I can't figure it out lol 😆 on xbox1 btw
You throw items in the direction your camera is facing
What button you use ON PC to grab instead of execute? I always end up killing them and I see you using the grab and push a lot in your videos and can't replicate it
I changed mine to one of my mouse buttons I hated the x
Excellent stuff, Brian! Your explanations of those parts of the game that are not openly revealed are gold (like dodge/counter). A+, your community thanks you!
Thank you so much man
hell yeah time to learn something
the annoying thing about the grapple is how its not toggle prompt but a hold prompt
Time to see what the boss man has done for this one 😏
Time to learn from the man himself😂😂
Bro, I never knew about this browser. Thanks for all that info! 🤘
Thank you for checking it out yeah it was news to me also I’m so glad I found it it’s amazing
Maybe explaining how to preform the grapple/grab. As it doesn't come up in gameplay. So knowing which button to use isn't known. Could be in the controller menu. Haven't looked.
It’s RB on controller and X on PC
@@BrianMenard actually it's right trigger to grab and A to throw.. right bumper uses an item..
I looked up button layout after watching the video
hey Brian, is dead space in your radar for future games to play?
🤔 never really looked into that game is it any good
@@BrianMenard yes imo, its a space thriller game. Very atmospheric and I've yet to experience another game as scary as it is. The game audio is also very well done. Its also been more than 5 years since I've played it yet for me it stood the test of time as being one of my all time favorites.
seeing as you liked resident evil's horror and survival aspect, hoping youll give this one a try someday 👍
@@BrianMenard Dead Space is survival horror of a Lovecraftian in space variety. It's very good and would likely be good streaming content. There are actually a couple of anime movies that are set one before the first game, and the second set between the first and second games that are worth a watch. Be warned. It's one of the creepiest and scariest games I've ever played (Seriously, that little girl singing "Tinkle, Tinkle, Little Star" makes my skin crawl). Probably scarier than Resident Evil. So be prepared.
even if its a year OL video still learned something in 2023 the no directional Dodging man I was trying to figure that out Just TAP the Dodge Button: 11:32 and with counter attack Nice. Glad the games imperving and getting constant updates I just got back into SD2 .
Great guide! Tnx Bro
Blunt weapon: wooden bat
Me: ok fresh character and all
Bladed weapon: Maachete.
Me: yeah.
Heavy Weapon: Coffee Can Mace
Me: Man pulled out the most powerful heavy weapon in the game and my favorite, sweet ಠ_ಠ
How do you get the coffee can mace? Can you only get it from heartland?
Great Vid Bro....
Holy crap.. I've played this game since day 1 release date and I didn't know about the counter-attack... 🤔
is there a counter attack for heavy weapons?
Yes but it’s slow and doesn’t always knock down
You can also use [Kick] when holding a zombie, as an alternative to [Execute] and [Throw]
~ What that does is releases the zombie (no throw) and ankle sweeps them to the ground. You can follow with either [Execute] or additional [Kicks] to the head while they are down. This is useful only when not wanting to directly kill the zombie outright PVE VS NPC hostiles, challenge rule, or goofing off.
Bonus Penname challenge. Grab & Hold zombie...Throw them into a tipped road cone, if your aim is true your zed will get up with a road cone hat. Good luck dead zone runners!
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 i will test this because if I hit the kick button while holding a zombie it throws them now with the close combat skill I know if ur behind a zombie you can kick there feet out and kill them
@@BrianMenard "I know if ur behind a zombie you can kick their feet out and kill them" well they do just fall first then you can choose to execute or walk away, but yea, there ya go, nothing to test.
How can I trigger the stomp animation consistently on a single feral? Half the time I just end up kicking the feral when in reality im trying to stomp them to death. (It's my favorite way to kill a single feral.)
It is very unreliable sometimes I don’t know a sure fire way to make it happen every time that’s why I prefer heavy weapons
So had a full night on it now getting to where I know what I'm doing, setting items up pre wave and scavenging after wave 2 every wave. The unfortunate thing is though I meet a lot of players who stand behind the wall. Now I'm not an expert on this yet but I prefer meeting the enemy BEFORE they hit the wall. Saves ammo and wall repair kits but that's my opinion on present collated data which is limited still
yeah i only fight outside the walls myself its a lot better
I always like to do pros and cons on a situation like this : pros staying behind the wall - take no damage whatsoever, no immediate pressure or danger cons- massive ammo consumption, more wall damage. Pros and cons of fighting outside the wall pros- a lot less ammo consumed a lot less wall damage cons - much more dangerous. Apart form the technician the 2 most important things after healing between rounds is ammo and wall durability so it's easy choice 4 me
Secrets from the meat grinder...
:D
Blunt > Bladed in versatility and avoiding getting hit.
Debatable. Max Striking doesn't have a standing execution and is much louder.
When max'd out, Close Combat and Swordplay will slice through large mobs far quicker and quieter than Striking.
@@robinvegas4367 plus swordplay allows you to cut the zombies legs off
K & M - Use X to Grab zombie then Spacebar to shove zombie.
What is the throw button on PC?
how to grab and throw?
space bar
Grab is X on pc. You need to hold x to grab it then press spacebar to throw the zed
Really feel combat was worse in SoD2. They locked so many of the basic combat moves behind a progress wall. Now to unlock even the basic set of combat moves from the first game, you have to specialise. You end up not being able to do half the stuff you could do in SOD one before you even started to specialise…
Yeah it’s a lot different here the only thing I like more about SOD 2 melee is it’s so smooth and fluid compared to SOD 1 which I felt at points was kind of clunky but your right a basic character could do a lot more then a basic character now but I think they did that to make the game harder at first I was thinking that one thing they could have added is to allow normal survivors to learn the red talon skill after awhile for melee combat which allowed to to learn all of the melee combat skills maybe as like another upgrade 🤔
@@BrianMenard
Yeah it’s a shame. You just end up with less moves per character.
It’s still a good game. I’m hoping State of Decay 3 delivers..
Love it
I usually skip past the sales pitches on peoples videos but you sold me on that browser bro. You’re a natural at this, it’s probably coz you’re so likeable and trustworthy. Hope you get more sponsored videos in the future Brian
Hey man that really means a lot to me seriously and thank you for the support
whats the pc dodge button
What button do you press on xbox to push the zombie? tia
5:03 when it starts
Already have Opera GX installed, but clicked the link anyway. Hope it helps.
Thank you so much for that support seriously 😁👍🏼
Again a supreme guide....
What’s the button to grab them???
I believe the key is X I don't know because I changed mine but just check you key binds and look for the grapple command
I like to play daybreak to practice
It’s the perfect training ground you have nothing to lose
I don’t know what key does this on pc
Ok self shame time... I totally thought this browser was Oprah until today!
Bladed weapons in SOD 2 suck compared to SOD 1 IMO. Five swings to kill something on average is so annoying
First sponsor 🥳🥳🥳
Do a state of decay 3 wishlist
🤔
How do you grab a zombie on Xbox?
i believe its RB
@@BrianMenard thank you so much I been try to find out. I been playing for like 2 years..lol I was starting to think only certain characters could do it. But luckily you replied back. You got a sub from me now
@@stephenwilliams7200 thank you so much I really appreciate it make sure your behind them when you try to grab them and hold the button once you do grab them. If not you will let them go as soon as you let go of the button
dodge though zombie and then kick it and see the magic happen
Oh god armored ferals? :(
Starts @5:51
Literally HAD to each this at 1.5x bc You. Talk. So. Slowly.
five-minute ad at the beginning of your video. Nope... thumbs way down.
