@sayvar44 Don't insult Family Matters. It's up there with Frasier....at least the first seven seasons. It was when Disney bought it that it became vapid crap.
when tyler says "the laughter of dead voices" it's because most laugh tracks were recorded in the 1950s, and at this point they're probably all dead by now.
My understanding of 20th century sitcoms have come almost exclusively from this channel and the way he's been depicting them has caused me to develop an irrational fear against them thank you tyler very cool
It's not irrational. You subconsciously already know it is social programming. Take input: set of social situations, contexts, etc. Add stimulus: laughter at key moments, pauses. Tune timing for effect. Result: baseline set for social symbolic relationship, "correct" perception reinforced. Why else are they so vapid yet so full of meaning?
These shows (cheers and frasier) have ended before I was born for the most part. I've finished frasier and my take on a re-watch was not far off from this video. I'm on season 8 of cheers and yeah see what Ben said above. At least the Frasier show is aware of it's shortcomings at points it really is almost like social programming I just stopped questioning a lot of it as it went forward.

First off if you have never seen Fraiser then I highly recommend it. Personally, it’s one of my favorite sitcoms. If you have never seen the show you might think that Tyler is being sarcastic in some ways, but the funny thing is that he is absolutely correct about everything he said. The show is a brilliant mix of humor, heart, and down-to-earthiness that I dare say that it should be placed on the same level as Seinfeld or The Office. Thank you for reminding me of how special this show is Tyler. I look forward to your next video.

@Joker Jesus ah, it's not that bad. You gotta treat it like Fullmetal Alchemist. Just more Mass Effect to enjoy. But like the full metal alchemist movie, the dlc is just a waste of time.
It really wasn't a sad ending to me. Frasier may have not made any progress in his life with romance but lets not forget the progress he made from the start of the show to the end to those who truly mattered to him. Niles is no longer jealous of Frasier, he becomes his own man throughout the series, and we watch him make every step to that endeavor with some guidance and help from Frasier. Martin Crane is unable to connect at all with his two sons by the start of the show but by the end he's closer to them than ever. His relationship with Roz is more intimate by the end of the show than most married couples. He helped raise her child and was with her when most men (and family members) weren't. He grew as a person with these events in his life. To me Frasier's ending wasn't sad at all. It was optimistic and heart warming. By the end he had finally (mostly) overcome his narcissism and self importance. To the point where he has a conversation relaying the final moments he has in Seattle and his family to a lovely young women. Whom of which he makes no heavy passes at and simply enjoys her company, showing growth as a person to focus less on his own ego and more on the actual feelings of others. They grow a bit from their exchange with each other and Frasier looks out the plane window seeing a new hill to overcome as they land. A new adventure in a chapter of his life. But not to worried because the love from those close to him in Seattle will always be with him.
The narcissistic descent of Frasier led him to leave his friends and family behind so that he could madly fixate on a singular goal: murdering a foul-mouthed ten year old with spiky hair
The theme song says it all. His salads, chaotically tossed, out of order, lost and confused. His eggs, scrambled, violently mixed by life, thrown every which way. He really needs to get his life together.
I can imagine Babish will be watching this episode at some point knowing how he is with Frasier...So my message to him! thanks for teaching me so much about cooking!
beyond that the early seasons were wildly funny and self aware. The writers know Fraiser and Niles are stuck up pricks and plays it so well with characters like Marty and Daphne.
Frasier is one of the best, most solid sitcoms ever. It really never lagged. By the end of it, it didn’t feel like “please make it stop already” like a lot of the most successful sitcoms. The last season was even the best season.
I always wanted to have a life like frasier did, only without my dad living with me. Bachelor pad, cute scruffy dog, coffee houses and lots of jazz. And high class mature poontang.
The thing you notice by watching Cheers and Fraiser is how attentive the writers were to details. In an early Fraiser episode of Cheers, he shows he's a dogged Freudian to a fault for a joke. Multiple times in Fraiser proper, he goes on to have multiple conflicts with Niles and other characters due to just how insistent he is that Freudianism is totally right.
The writers also made sure to cover up some plotholes in Frasier, like the fact that Frasier suddenly has a family in the spinoff despite being an only child with a dead scientist father in Cheers
Just watched this show on Hulu for the first time ever and was truly shocked with how terrible of a person Frasier became. Niles is the peak of humanity
Frasier is like highlander without sword fights just mind games. Incidentally I never knew that Frasier were an spin off, the whole thing was mean spirit in comparison.
it is one of my favourite shows and Kelsey grammar is incredible as Frasier I hope they bring it back soon even though you make great points about him being a narcissist but very lovable as a character same with the rest of the cast
Wow!! Also, I realized he left his ex-wife and son in Boston which meant they only visted each other a few times a year. They did show the problems that came with that later on in the seried. He ultimately sacrificed the relationship with his only son by moving to Seattle in pursuit of "success." And now I am depressed lol :(
Frasier was such a damn good show i loved it No one couldve played those characters better especially kelsey and he was such a complex character and the dilogue was truly one of a kind Cheers too
Frasier is my favorite show and I think this shows why. There's so much more at play than just comedy. Frasier means well but he simply stumbles over his own ego so often. It's a great aspect for the show to explore and it's why I love Frasier Crane, and Niles Crane, and Marty Crane
As a fan of Frasier, this video depresses me. Maybe because even though I'm not a celebrity, I still heavily relate to Frasier's narcissism and fear of commitment even though I really want a long term partner.
I think the deepest cut is how many of us can see our own failings in Frasier. Of course, I don't even have a classy high-rise apartment, or a nice car, a decent job... but the self-sabotage and huge mistakes... those I have endlessly!
Very true. Frasier did not need to let his family hold him back but he chose to let them stay at his empty penthouse high rise out of loneliness masquerading as duty.
This is truly a masterpiece. Everything said here is completely true, no matter how sarcastic sounding. Frasier is the story of a broken man. I think the episode that best exhibits this might be Don Juan in Hell Part 2 (9x02).
Frasier along with his brother Niles was portrayed as Psychiatrists on the show meaning they graduated from med school. But sometimes there were some scenes that made me think they were Psychologists with a PhD instead of an MD like being afraid of blood, having trouble delivering babies or even not knowing a basic medical term like cardiac event. Well, reminding myself instead it was fiction alot of times helped me in understanding them.

I unironically love Frasier. Not enough to buy it or watch reruns nightly, but whenever I see it on TV, I'll usually watch it and enjoy it until it ends and I return to channel surfing or just watching Netflix.
Solid video but lacking in one important area that needs to be looked at, not only did Frazier abandon his bar and friends in Boston but he also abandoned his son. The mark of a man, more than his fame money or career, is the example he sets for his children. Frazier by running across to the country to Seattle abandoned his responsibility to ensure that Fredrick grew up to be a well rounded and happy person.
He grew so much in Seattle, and effected so many people in positive ways. If it weren’t for him Niles would probably still be married to Maris, Daphne would’ve ended up marrying a gross lawyer, Marty wouldn’t of mended his relationships with his sons, Roz wouldn’t of drank coffee at Cafe Nervosa where she met her daughter’s father, and the many people of Seattle who were touched by his show would never of had him there to listen. Frasier also wouldn’t of had hope if he hadn’t gotten so close to his brother and father and seen them grow, proving that he too could still grow. For him, most his time in Seattle was a tragedy, but he helped so many people along the way. By the end of the show we finally see him doing something to actually help himself. Other than you saying “he probably shouldn’t have left Boston” I think this video was great and agree full heartedly. I love this show so much, and I really like how you described it as not cliche. It was certainly very special, and there aren’t really any shows quite like it.
Oh, the writing in that show (up until Daphne & Niles married) was top fucking notch. And the actors performed it magnificently as well, switching from silly to serious & touching perfectly. People that write it off as pretentious kinda miss the point of how the characters all are victims of their own pompisity consistently.
The aftermath of the marriage goes to show you that everybody wants to marry the sexy redhead with the accent until they realize that the sex appeal was a illusion destroyed by marriage. Ex-wife Maris was not a saint but Daphne was the proof that Niles would have been better off unmarried altogether.
@@Mikewee777 Not sure about that, but Daphne's role in the story definitely changed after they eloped. The writers just didn't know what to do with her and it might've had something to do with them forced to write her in since the actress that played her married one of the producers, even if they had nothing for her to do and that might've been why in so many episodes she was just there

I KNEW YOU LIKED FRASIER. The way you kept using Frasier and Cheers clips in your videos xD
I thought the real tragedy was all the people in Kelsey Grammer's life who keep dying horrible deaths.
I'm still alive just on youtube
Is this really how I heard about Kim Jong Un's heart surgery

Who are you
You are not me
Oh, the writing in that show (up until Daphne & Niles married) was top fucking notch.
The writers just didn't know what to do with her and it might've had something to do with them forced to write her in since the actress that played her married one of the producers, even if they had nothing for her to do and that might've been why in so many episodes she was just there
Are you sure your not some sort of therapist? I could sit here and listen to you all day long.
Hands down Frasier is my favourite show.
Holy shit! How are you posting so consistently! Appreciate it!
Back to the downward spiral into madness I see.
At 0:30 it should say 1993* - 2004. Seriously though, great video Ty! I've been waiting for this one for a while lol
Framing everyone, and everything, as narcissistic has become its own claptrack...
