    Caught him on this tour in Buffalo, New York which was during a blizzard and he played to the half dozen of us who were daft enough to brave the storm. Class act indeed!!!

    Thanks for posting this. Was great to see the "Old Codger," again. Although ain't we all now.
    I was 14 when Rattus was released and a mates brother copied it on a cassette, the tape wore out eventually!
    Finally got to see them live for the Raven tour. 18 and earning enough for concert tickets I think it was something silly like £2.10 or £2.30. Never missed a London concert after, until we moved north in the late 90's. Have loved every iteration of The Stranglers but do miss Hugh strutting his stuff. My daughter brought me his autobiography, signed copy. To this day I haven't read the last chapter. I was at the ally pally concert and Hugh left that night. Still love them and thank them all! For making my adolesence a rocking one.

    As a 15 year old I went to see the Stranglers at the Brighton Conference Centre (yes we used to creep in)..I think it was during their Black&White album..JJ jumped down right in front of me and I was terrified that I'd done something wrong and he'd clobber me one..what a show that I'll never forget... The Black&White album came with a black LP and a white EP..I have them both somewhere but I didn't look after my records as a kid

    JJ Burrnel made the Stranglers with his distinctive bass line gutter sound . I was lucky to see them live in the early days in the pubs. I will never forget being by the stage when JJ Burnel first played "Peach's".

    Thank you for uploading this, Hugh Cornwell is a great guitarist, very under rated. Some of his albums outside the Stranglers are excellent too, Nosferatu has to be one of the best. Great to hear this stuff.

    I always thought the four (IV) on Rattus stood for Intra Veinous. But that was my thing at thé time apart only from The Stranglers. I am still obsessed with them all these years later. I am only pissed off that I never got to see them WITH HUGH. Seen them with Baz (and whilst Dave was still here, than Fuck) and although i prefer Hugh Era Stranglers, they were still most fuckin excellent live.
    Long live Hugh, and best of health to him. 🖤😎

    Excellent stuff. Is it me or did he miss out something from Nosferatu?

    • @johndraye5790
      @johndraye5790 Рік тому

      Yes , you're absolutely right , he excluded it and went straight to Wolf's 'decadence' . . . . how decadent
      Perhaps it's too beat driven & led (?) . . . . Robert Williams , who also totally dueted the entire 'NOSFERATU' , except 'built the wrong way' which featured Ian Dury & 'rhythmic itch' which featured DEVO's Mark Mothersbaugh !!
      Shame . . . . 'Big Bug' would have been so topical & is a masterpiece . . . (about Trotsky's Train)
