Makoto's arc is far the most depressing part of Kanon, as much as the other girls of the anime suffered or got hurt. Makoto was far the saddest, the fact that her mind slowly turning back to a fox and Yuuichi being by her side until the end was just... T-T just sayin best arc
Makoto was by and far my favorite heroine but goddamn.... To love someone so much that they would literally trade away their life for a moment to be with them....
It just struck me that the fox's wedding is actually a Japanese legend. There are two separate legends: The first is that if you happen to see lights in the sky on a tranquil night, then it's because a fox is getting married. The second is that if there are sunshowers, it's because of a fox's wedding. In many countries (especially in the east), sunshowers are referred to as "the fox's wedding" or "fox rain", etc.
i think this episode absorbed all my feels and left me as a shell i sobbed so hard during this the only other time i cried was when Ayu fell off the tree otherwise i was sad but never cried again ._. this anime killed my soul...
"Makoto has become a wind. Unconsciously, Yuuichi took the bell of "wedding". He did shed tears, but this time sounded a silent winter. A beautiful wedding."
Actually, there are clues in the end of the novel, in the anime serie Kanon 2002 (Kazahana OVA) and in this anime that might suggest that she actually come back thanks to the miracle of the city. I discovered that recently and it made me want to take a closer look to be sure about it because that would be really great.
There has never been a show, anime or otherwise, that forced me to stop watching because of a sad moment. I could not bring myself to watch this show after this and I remained emotionally destroyed for a week.
Interesting question, after all, Ayu did wish for him to be happy... which should mean that Makoto would be brought back. It's a pity really, she was one of my favorites.
Newcomers guide to the anime from Key. Watch Kanon, then Air, then Angel Beats! and if you haven't drowned yourself in tears from Key's amazing work, then you watch Clannad. Unfortunately I already watched Clannad then Kanon.
Makoto is not dead at the end of the last episode u could see her in her fox form........its sad she would be able to see yuichi again but at least shes alive.
I need to watch this Anime again. I need to see if I can figure out why the fox took the appearance of the girl who lived next door. Did the fox know that Yuichi liked the girl next door. I can remember bits here and there about boy Yuichi laying out in a field and telling someone that the girl he liked was older, but i'm wondering if Yuichi was talking to himself while the fox was next to him. Yuichi's aunt said that she knew he had a fox because the fox would run around the house and maybe that was how maybe the fox saw what Makoto looked like and knew her name. I'll watch Kanon again and maybe all the clues will make more sense now that I now what to look for.
No line of words, but it really expresses Makoto's weakened health and getting back to a fox. Kanon's voice actors have been really good compared to recent Animes. By the way I'm Japanese and I don't know how people outside Japan would feel like.
this death is bullshit i really liked mokoto she was awesome and watching this i dont now if i wont to keep watching the anime dame it this just made me cry
She was a fox but she has received miracule which makes her a human for awhile. But only for very short time. When the miracule ends she can't speak and continue to function as a human anymore and slowly die. BTW: Sorry for my English, my school doesn't learn this language..
She is Originally a Fox that yuichi found in his childhood and saved it before that fox died it wanted to see yuuichi one last time and transformed into a girl when she fullfiled her wish she would gradually become a fox again and die thats what happened
@@theeoduude8305 It was incredibly heart wrenching, especiallysince there's no "miracle" to save her. The miracle was her turning into a human to begin with. In the VN's route end Yuuichi and Amano (the girl who also met and experienced a kitsune's death) meet each other at school and hang out, bonding over the loss of Makoto. And that's where it ends, with that super downer of an ending.
@@LeonGun8 Makoto had one of the best character arcs and when she died the show just wasn't quite the same. She made me sad asf, even 4 episodes after i was still feeling that shit.

This is back when Key didn't shy away from their sad ends too. It was Clannad that began the whole "let's bring our dead girls back !" fad.
Why did I rewatch this scene.
that's what i want to know from myself

First time i cryed in a fucking anime, at the part he takes Makoto to the school and says that she came to say goodbye, I seemed like a baby.
Oh shit, the quality of this still holds up today.

Me too. I watched this more than 7 years ago, and since then I have never felt the same.
Makoto is my favorite character. This is my favorite episode and the saddest too.

Watching Kazahana made this scene a lot easier to take for me.
its been four years since I saw this part of the anime and it still gets me.
😢😢😢
Key

Still crying when I watch it.. One of the best romance anime with Clannad one for me! Really touching T_T
This was the most saddest part in the anime :
SO CUTE THIS SCENE!!!
It's pretty sad, isn't it.. Ayu is cute but Makoto in my opinion would've been just as awesome.
I was so bored at the beginning of the anime, but this had me crying like a bitch 😭
Kinda same lol

AuraofLight I unfortunately watched Kanon and Clannad, watching Air soon, then finding a way to watch angel beats English dub
I actually watched first Clannad. Four years later, I decided to give Kanon a chance and I fully enjoyed it.

The Devil no she isn’t. I mean the fox spirit Makoto isn’t. His childhood crush is still alive
Fangirling109 so she’s actually dead?
@@almighty_gouki Watch the 2002 Kanon Kazahana OVA if you want the answer.

I downloaded the blu-ray rip.
