32 days sober for me after drinking for 40 years! I could not have done it without your videos , thank you from the bottom of my heart...Your awesome!!
I'm now 19 days sober, just got home from a party where I copped abit of flak from my mates when I refused to drink a beer that was brought for me, but I stayed firm and had a fantastic night sober, instead of drinking, I focus a on having good conversations, I'm proud and most importantly feeling healthy even after 19 days, onwards and upwards, I wish you all the best, no more terrible hangovers. keep the posion out of your mouth
I like your message. One of the reasons I quit alcohol 65 days ago was not only for my health but for my 7yr old son. I don't want him exposed to alcohol while growing up.
Well said Kevin. Thank you. Its a lifetime journey for me. Im lucky it didnt kill me. So many bad things happend because of alcohol. I finally realised alcohol is my enemy. Not my friend...
Made it 8 days and let a tough day at work set me back. Time to restart. Will update in 30 days. Love your channel and have been watching your vids daily for about 2 weeks for inspiration.
I love your walking videos and have appreciated your message so much. I started watching for my son, but quickly realized I really need to focus on myself. My son is a young professional musician and drinks regularly. He can drink a lot and has tones of blacking out. It effects him physically and mentally. He knows it's making things difficult, but he can't get himself to stop especially surrounded by people drinking and buying him drinks while on stage. I wish he would quit and remember how happy he once was playing music sober. Now he associates performing with drinking and has fears around being in the scene without alcohol. I drink with friends when we go out. Even though I don't drink anywhere near like my son does, I realized I'm wanting more for him than for myself. I rarely only have one drink. Since getting cancer I'm vegan and try to be health conscious, so I'm usually kicking myself for drinking two beers the night before knowing it's links to cancer. Drinking has always been a challenge for me and I have to monitor myself not to drink to the point of being an idiot. I finally decided to quit and made a daily self-care plan of replacement behaviors to chart on the calendar. Originally, I thought I'll just stop for a while and see how I feel. Then walking home alcohol free after being with friends downtown that were drinking, I was celebrating. They went further into the night to party and I called it a night to go home and do yoga, which I was actually excited about! My biggest trigger and I did it! I stayed strong. It felt so good and the next day I felt so proud and confident in my choice. I knew this needed to be more than a temporary change. It'll be six weeks this Friday. I've gone a month without drinking from time to time, but I can feel my mindset around this is different-It's to live my life finally honoring my mind and body each day while being the model of a mindset I hope for my son to find someday. Thank you for the discussions and guidance you have provided through your channel. You are inspiring change around the world. Much gratitude💚
just done 30 days. was just gonna do dry Jan, but came across your videos Kevin and you've motivated me to stop completely. You spell out the benefits of quitting in a way no government anti drinking campaign ever does. thankfully
my son turned 7 today and I've not been able to keep steady employment or any sort of relationships. I've tried so many times. this time im going to exercise and get healthy and clear minded again.
53 days sober and going strong ! Thanks to Kevin, watched his videos almost everyday for first 30days, and now sometimes i totally forget about alcohol
My first 31 days free from alcohol. All glory, praise and honor to you my Lord and Savior Jesus! Looking forward to a new life, better health, and a clear clean mind, body and spirit! 😃
I’m on week two of not drinking. My goal is to do 30 days. I’m not planning on quitting completely after that but I plan to use it to regulate my drinking pattern and quantity.
32 days here after drinking a pint of vodka and a half bottle of white wine every night for the last 10 years. Feeling great and grateful, and looking ahead. Thank you, Kevin.
21 days here, longest streak in over 6 years. Let's see where this journey takes me. So far much clear mind and a sense of care for things that I wouldn't even think of before. Like going out to buy a plant for my fire stair that was looking like trash before.
I drink at weekends and have really wanted to stop it for a long time. The thing is sometimes I don't even know what day it is and I find myself in a bar, and I realise it's Friday, it's crazy how habits are formed and then stuff happens subcosciously. I hate alcohol and cigs too.
Love the perspective you give in the last ~5 minutes of this video. Your videos are a great service to people like me who have stopped the drink. Thanks!
Next week will be 30 days for me, I’ve been a heavy drinker for over 40 years. I’ve got my first grandchild due next month and I’m determined to get to that milestone sober. I’m now frightened to take another drink because I know that I will end up exactly back to square one. If it’s making you miserable and you know in your heart that it’s got a grip on your everyday life then my advice is to try and come down gently. Don’t just stop it’s too much of a shock.get to the point when you finally go to bed sober. When you wake up next day that’s your starting point.
I made it 6 months to the day, then started again. It never got any easier for me. Im at 4 months now after drinking again for another year and a half. Not much of a problem staying sober this time since the doctors told me I have earlier signs of cirrhosis.
loopev I agree. Kevin's videos seem to be the only helpful ones out there. His best for me is the one where he's standing in the middle of the orange trees listing the benefits of quitting.
I tip my hat to Kevin, I havent touched booze or any mind altering substance besides coffee in a long time! Alcohol is pure poison. The self respect and maturity and personal gains have been tremendous because of the absence of booze!
Hey Kevin how you doing I'm try again 5 days in I pray to God to get to my 30 days and I can see the Mountaintop but I have to be strong stay off around certain people you stay focused thank you for the message Continue the great work
6 months and going strong, been doing program but so much hearing same thing,Will use it instead of picking up but hope for freedom from it and remain sober
will be 5 months soon. Then going to review the situation and start again. Its been a really trying couple of weeks and dont know how much is left in the tank. kevin mentioned on other vids that you have additional challenges when the new life begins. too true.
I've been drinking the last 20 years, (most of it everyday) I'm three days sober now, I've been here before but it's the two week mark that nails me most times. After two weeks my mind says "Hey Byron it's been two weeks you don't have the shakes or cravings your fine you just need to moderate" wham bam and a week or so later I'm back to every day, I've gotten past 30 days just once (The day I got married I celebrated with a drink and was back on the juice) I really want to look back on 1 month, 6 months a year and so on of sobriety...
One of the things that I had to do in the first 'go' was to stop engaging in the "happy hour" routine, for example cheese n crackers, olives, little smokers, etc. I'm at six weeks.
Day 72 here. I was a maybe 4 to 5 drinks a nite after work type. But partied hard on weekends for 40 years. Cant say it was hard. For 2 hours a nite id crave the shit out of it but id just go work out or clean house. Hardest thing for me is the social aspect. All my friends drink. My culture, blue collar workers, we drink few beers after work. But to go and drink water or decafe.. sucks. Still does. I love beer, but hated being out of shape with a gut coming on. Feeling like shit every morning. So I do get better sleep. My mind, Cant say ive had some huge revolution of clarity or anything. I did drop 20 lbs. Ate better, more rested, Seems to give other parts of body chance to heal.. ( former pro athlete have alot of busted shit, screws, plates etc etc. Biggest thing for me was to show myself I could do it. I do feel better. Better example for my grandson and my friend has cut way back since I stopped. But I miss it no doubt. From 15 to 55 I drank every nite almost. But got real bad last 5 years. Dad was a drunk. I didnt want to go there. More Pride I think then anything else. But 1 day at a time goals I set. Not 30. Even broke it down to 3 hrs I dont have to drink when i get home. So damn sure feel better physically and about myself I reckon. Its very doable. Not as hard as we think. You can do it!
People act like changing their habits is almost impossible. Stop the whining and get on with it!!! I was a heavy drinker and cigarette smoker for 20+ years, and stopped January 20, 2019 cold turkeys on both. If I can, anybody else can too. You just have to get past that first phase 30 days, so you can get some benefits and they can accumulate from there. Get off your ass and try! That's it. Good luck! Happy new year!
Thank u Kevin u help a lot god bless u if you don’t believe in god it’s ok whith me I dou I’m coming out of hell call Kane pot and drinking hookers for 35 years growing up in New York City was an easy either and a lot of things are not my fault I know that I am doing good right now I’m getting there one day at a time I think you for your videos and you are very helpful to me cheers mate New York City
I can take it or leave it no anxiety personally 30 days without alcohol I feel exactly the same I don't feel compelled to drink I just like to drink. I wish not drinking felt more rewarding I just don't because it's not in my budget or lifestyle anymore and I accept that. I have a ridiculous amount of self control in most areas of my life I do not do things compulsively for that I deserved a trophy years ago.
Great info-authentic-tho why do you shoot your videos walking, half out of breathe? Your message is continuously interrupted by the need to take a breathe it’s incredibly distracting
30 days for me today, again. It's not difficult to not drink it's just difficult to stay not drinking. The nefarious part of alcohol use disorder for me is that after a little time goes by my brain convinces me that I have control of it now, I will handle it, drink socially, hang out & have fun. But I end up drinking daily, more & more for no reason other than drinking for the sake of drinking, making myself miserable. Not this time. Thanks for the inspiration.
