My experience is that Ford will often discount very heavily. Whether a car is good value depends on the price. This car likely checks of most of the requirements for the average person. My daughter drives a 6 year old Titanium and likes it. While I probably wouldn't buy one (I would probably get the Mazda CX5 or Suburu Outback; the Honda CRV is too big and has that crazy oil-gas mixing small earth dream engine and not the Toyota RAV4 which is apparently quite noisy) I think it checks most of the boxes.
Agree about the Discounts.. but with everything in the world now and some people not working as much id say this would be ok temp vehicle possibly for them with the price.
Great review Sam. As always, I appreciate your honesty and forthrightness. So nice to see that in a car review. I still like the brown leather interior of the new (2019) Subaru Forester.
Love my Titanium Hybrid! Great fuel mileage and love the full digital instrument panel. Ford nailed the powertrains but the interior quality is lacking.
I have the Truckette version Escape (2010 XLT). Humble but I like it and it's cute. You captured it. I see the new Escape and it just doesn't do anything for me. The Bronco Sport is going to kill it in sales imo.
Great review 👍🏻. Completely agree with the 2.0 Turbo being thirsty. Wife’s Fusion Titanium always settles in at 24mpg combined no matter how you drive it.
It will probably leave the lot for about that price. With the lukewarm reviews this car has been getting My local dealers already have five to $6000 off of them in their first model year. While 2 miles down the road a Toyota RAV4 hybrid that is left over 2020 stock still only has $600 off MSRP.
Even though the last gen was all over the place, they were so much nicer in every possible way. This one does not appeal in any one of the ways the previous ones did, when you can get a RAV4 for less why would anyone even buy the Escape?
Well the thing is floor the new Escape and U ll understand why. I mean even with 4 on board the 2.0 turbo in Eacape pulled like a train while the so called reliable Rav4 in same scenario was slow.. wining for power and lacked any form of character. Sure Eacape does not ve the best interior space nor the interior.. but its small and easier to drive and feels light footed especially with the powerhouses 2.0 turbo
I have a 2020 Ford Escape S AWD, it was a holdover. I don't agree about the back seat; I find the seat pad is fine and sits myself (I'm 5'11) fine. As for stop-start, I think most have it, so--yeah--just turn it off. Also, if you put the driving mode in Sport, it's a world of difference.
@@sandiago7564 Still good. Just turned 24k on it, and finally got new tires. No new recalls, no weirdness, engine runs fine. As long as I maintain it, I think I should at least get 100k out of it (based on my '14 Escape, which I rolled).
This is a "grandpa" car. The outside is like a Werther's Original, the inside is like a tour bus interior, and it couldn't get grandma moist if it tried.
Just to keep it short, I have the '21 SEL and I beg to differ with the veiled dislike which is also reflected in the comments. It WAS Ford's second best seller, and yes, your best deal will come when buying from rental resale. But why were they bought? Well, they don't show up on the top 10 stolen. Or recalled. I prefer another vibe to rental. Fleet cars. True or not there's a hint of reliability/longevity in seeing either your car or a close model in numbers with a company or law enforcement logo. That softens the retiree optic a little. If I get to the point where I need a mobility scooter instead of a teardrop on my hitch, it'll be time to stop driving anyway.
I haven’t seen one good review of the Escape. In a segment this hot and competitive you really have to bring it. The start button placement is horrible. The gauges look cheap AF I’m fully disappointed in Ford. I guess this is what you get when A guy who’s built furniture his whole life tries to run a car company.
i see older people driving these near me. i am curious as to how many times someone tried to go in reverse they put it in park😂 Have a good Thanksgiving Sam!
Cool video, crappy vehicle.. Which means, even if the vehicle being reviewed, sucks!!! you make the "BEST OF IT." Thanks Sam, Happy Thanksgiving, Sir..
Dumbing down a vehicle is how you sell them. Sorry to say. Look at your beloved Volkswagen. Honestly, this segment is so popular, the Escape could have been worse, and Ford would still sell them. I see new Trax and Ecosports on the road. Actual owners of them, and not rentals. 🤣🤣And those are not very competitive at all.
I know it's been said in the comments but I wanted to say it as well this has been sterilized and made so Bland for that audience some people don't want flashy they want a functioning automobile some would even call it an appliance it's made on the same platform as the Bronco sport which is The Flash the pizzazz the room that they want so if you want plane you go with this but if you want that flash you go with the Bronco which is kind of ingenious Ford honestly
I had hoped that Ford was going to step their game up after deciding to end all of the sedans but it looks like Ford is approaching their suv/crossovers with the same cynicism and half hearted attempts they had with their sedans. Nothing about this vehicle screams “buy me!” Or “I’m trying to impress you!” Ford seems to have designed this vehicle as if it’s the only game in town. 😤🤦🏾♂️
Yes, it has bland looks. I'm not a fan off the Cr-V looks or the edgy Lexus?toyota hyper styled looks. This ole Sun City type guy doesn't like much that's new.
I died when you put the heartbeat monitor on the display 😂
He’s taking about style and wearing red laced boots. 😂
loved his outfit to be honest.
@@Tinrs80 LOL!
Nothing wrong with this car. It's also not a plastic interior. 👍
For $34K you can get a certified pre-owned 2018 Audi Q5 premium plus with warranty.
Yeah but then you’ll get a German kaboom

It’s like Ford knew Bronco Sport would be the consumer version and the Escape would be the fleet vehicle.
Great review 👍🏻. Completely agree with the 2.0 Turbo being thirsty. Wife’s Fusion Titanium always settles in at 24mpg combined no matter how you drive it.
Nice car if it was about $28,000

The Mazda CX-5, CRV, RAV-4, et al blow this Ford off the road.

The docs!
Ford Focus was never offered with the 2.0T. Perhaps you meant the Fusion?
Focus ST
The Focus ST had the 2.0T

So disappointing. I like the Escape less with every generation. Love the bronco sport instead.
Those boots with red laces is not doing it for you.
You probably wont like the ones with the rainbow laces then....
@@TestDrivenTV Probably not but I totally enjoy your auto reviews!
Or the ones with the blue laces... or the yellow.... the cream colored...
@@TestDrivenTV laces are good. it's the top. how about a red camo long sleeve henley shirt, tucked in?
thank you for mentioning that damned auto start-stop. one more vehicle to avoid. love the critique, esp. in the "quality" area.

Excellent Review of a Hideous Car. Ford should be ashamed.
