Dee -1 is speaking all facts. These rappers need to be held accountable. 💯
Parents need to be held accountable
Math put his soul on sale, He'd never let KRS-ONE on his platform because he couldn't deflect!!!
Bruh I been waiting on him to interview KRS-1...how you in NY and that's not one of your first guests. That's mad weird
Math is a hypocrite!! Listen to Maths intro. He promotes gangsta rap. It's in his intro. He doesn't support hip-hop or real hip-hop. Krs he won't have on his show because it contradicts his show.
Dee-1 came in and sparked good convo.
He is a solid cat, and a great mcee
He sucks and his point of view is Bull
@@OfficialBigDawgKel ....so then you support black murder and think it's fundamental to be a legend....?
@@OfficialBigDawgKel So then you think pushing black murder is necessary to be considered legendary?...just making sure I honed in on your thesis before I spark this lighter like lil wayne
wouldn’t have even wasted my time replying 😂 I love that UA-cam shows reply history soon as you click their pfp it gives you a glimpse of the kind of person you’re dealing with 😂
Dee 1 speaking truth and many can’t handle it. We don’t wanna grow up.
At all! None of these men Do. It's sad
He told Math “you trollin” 😂
Math is talking about him at 40
Dee 1 is talking about the kids
💯
Math playing dumb he knows exactly what this man is saying
Sometimes I dont think he be playing!
Especially when literally the opening song for this video is Math bragging about slapping rappers.
Sadly I don't think he's playing. Math is cool and I love and respect what he's doing with his podcast but he's never come across as the sharpest knife in the drawer. I don't think he's pretending to not understand. I think he genuinely doesn't get it, which is worse, esp at his age 🤦🏿♀️
The man isn’t saying anything nobody wants to address the real issue.. if hip hop never existed it will still be murders Maybe more
He just is dumb
Malcom X explained to us how silly it is to view comedians, actors, singers, and athletes as black leaders but here we are in 2024 still skipping over the root issues and focusing on the symptoms.
But that was a different time, rappers are the new “leaders”
@@Poetryforstoners nothing new or different about it. Bad idea then, bad idea now.
@@Luke973T as a writer I believe you are a leader if you talking bout your problems and don’t get to a solution, you a narr
@@Poetryforstoners I have no idea what your comment is saying
All Math has to do is walk around the neighborhood and he'll see a hundred youths out there the look like, talk like and act like their favorite rapper. Literally NBA Young Boy on every corner in the hood like a glitch in the matrix.
Facts
Exactly
Thing is people are barely just now waking up, and the ones who need to know are the slowest ones to find out. Takes alot of courage and self awareness to change
D1 is the truth! Math sounds crazy!
You can rap about the streets without glorifying the lifestyle.
Exactly, but for most, they can't recognize and stay away from the line that eventually often gets crossed.
NWA DID THAT
BUT THE SYSTEM USED THAT TO CONTROL Y'ALL
glorifying is subjective because rappers could show you the downside and have for decades but it doesn't stop certain segments of the audience from loving the aesthetic and lifestyle.
FATHERLESS PEOPLE
How about you don't rap about the streets at all but instead rap about things that glorify God?
Funny how one minute it's " I'm not industry, I'm in da streets". Minute later, " these just raps"
They feel like they have to be something they are not to get ahead.
Math is ridiculous sometimes. Acting clueless
Facts, it’s depressing. Losing mad respect for New York Trolls
Plastic man…steady reaching😂
It’s not an act
Math is a battle rapper. He’s not acting he really believes what he’s saying because this was the way he got his rise publicly. He’s not that far removed from battle rap so it’s going to be HARD to change his mind on justifying violent lyrics
We hope it's an act.
“To whom you give your money is to whom give your power”
🔥💯
You surely ain't giving your money to artist by streaming there music for pennies on the dollar
wow the hosts really dont want the guest to speak his mind !! they yappin over him and switchin it up - shame
Yea Math starting to look compromised...
Mec, we'll rock with ya if you decide to do something else, it's getting shaky at MEO
I feel you but MEC had to articulate it in a way the guest couldn’t.
If you have influence, you’re a leader.
If you have a platform, you’re a leader.
It’s not sad. It’s not horrible. It’s not a bad look for a particular community. It is what it is.
It’s a weak argument to pretend that reality away. It’s a sign of weakness to troll your guest when you’re failing in the discussion/debate.
Aside from that, the discussion good and necessary. Way to be a leader!
“To whom you give your money is to whom give your power”
Finally somebody speaking truths. Math in denial
We all need to study Rakim. Never cursed in his Raps. And he’s the God MC
To you NY niggaz. Not to other regions.
The arts, regardless of form or genre, have been used for centuries to communicate a message, create movements, and cultivate the masses. If you want to frame an agenda determine the way people think, do it through the arts
Art has always imitated life
I'm a Star Wars fan. There is a character named Grand Admiral Thrawn who was created in Star Wars novels years ago. He was recently seen in animation and the Ahsoka show. He said this same thing. If you really want to understand a culture and a people you do so through their art.
I can tell trends, social preference, demographics, politics, religion and almost everything in between if I study their art. What they choose to promote, or what they choose to ignore. Once I've gained that knowledge then I can manipulate the masses.
Or to MisEducate and Misdirect the masses or group of people
Dee 1 on the right path, I guess some people are scared to admit it or they just not ready yet...
He actually right, if cats like Math don’t like the idea of rappers having to be more responsible in their lyrics and content then “responsible” people should stop supporting platforms like this one 🤷🏾♂️
I think you a bozo
@@OfficialBigDawgKel Very sentimental of you, thanks.
@@dawb86 goofy
@@dawb86 you’re always acting like you have the power to end somebody’s shit just because you disagree with them. People like you don’t deserve power.
I love when people go against the grain. I’m going to have to check out Dee 1 let’s see what his music is like. Dee 1 came in ready. Great conversation
The word demon means "to be skilled."
Dee-1 came with that 🔥
😅 Math throw in the towel, even your mane man had a change of heart
Math made some terrible arguments. Rappers justifying the dysfunction glorified in Rap music is the problem.
Dee 1 is an intelligent black man. Math can't compete
Can't rap about something you not doing or haven't did. If the struggle is what they come from then of course they gonna rap about it. The goal is to boss up and once you make it you can switch up the topic because you are experiencing a different lifestyle. The core fans might not rock with the transition but it is what it is
@@KKB45 But plenty of Rappers rap about a life they've never lived....all the time. And there's a way to Rap about struggling without glorifying and promoting dysfunction. Too many young impressionable Black kids are listening to and influenced by these Rappers for them to not be using their voices, their art for higher purposes.
NO THE PROBLEM IS THE LABELS WITH THE POWER AND RESOURCES HIRING RAPPERS TO CONTINUE THE CYCLE OF VIOLENT MESSAGES! THIS SHYT IS LAME
Art imitates life. The dysfunction was here before rap
Math going out bad yo
The Teacher/Prophet strikes again!
Dee keep remaining Real, Righteous, and Relevant 🙏🏻
He trash
And wont sell a wooden nickel. He can talk all the conscious shit all he wants.... If he doesn't sell.... Label drops his overly positive ass. It's always mfs that can't sell wanting to dictate the rules to this shit.
Mos Def always had that street life in his tracks, he never glorified violence lile Brown on Brown murder!!
Math got one foot stuck over on the dark side😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He’s a battle rapper what did you think? The mind it takes to go to that place. I’m sure he’s made commitments that are going to be HARD to overturn
@@camfreed9829battle rapping and making hot songs that mostly are listened to by kids is different
Math in the conversation is sounding crazy . I know he smarter then that must be for tv.
I be wondering....
When I was a teenager, I ran across (GangStar) Guru's "Moment of truth" track. He shaped my hip hop taste to crave conscious rap.
❤ Moment of Truth
I don't just play that song, but I play that whole album to this day.. But that Moment of Truth record had so many gems. RIP GURU
That song is a must-listen for anyone that loves Hip Hop.
Rapper aren't leaders but they all wanna be bosses? The community is confused and talking about nothing
My hkomie was a leader in my community all the tiny locs looked upto cuhk his death at the hands of a coward done fucced up the children of my community they don't really see noway out if yall aint athletic nip had the blueprint on how to escape the hk60d S.I.P my big bro Nayborhk60d Nip Sixty Crip
Dee-1 talkin bout the way things are, Math talkin bout the way it should be.
This debate is very old and not restricted to rap or hip-hop. Those of us old enough remember the song "Self Destruction" by the Stop the Violence Movement. If I remember correctly that was 1989, long before Trap and Drill. Video games, death metal and even Dixie Jazz sparked the same sort of moral outrage. The difference is the immersive nature of the media through which we consume these contents and the disintegrating context that feed on, and into the artistic expressions. The same sort of argument is going on with regards to the graphic violence in movies or video games and internet contents. Am not saying that rappers are not responsible for the garbage many spew out but we can't ignore the larger context of these events. We often discuss these things as though black people live in a cocoon by ourselves. Listen to many of these rappers and the main themes are all inspired by movies not the so called "streets". Biggie called himself the "black Frank White" for a reason. The basic imagery is all from the Hollywood depiction of the "National Crime Syndicate". Remember the name "Murder Inc"? Even the term and image of the "gangsta" is borrowed from the same imagery source. None of these influences are exclusively black or reflective of the lives of most black people in general. Lucky Luciano and Meyer Lansky are not black neither is the fictional Tony Montana. Besides this point, the image most rappers project is a soup cooked by the media department of record companies owned and controlled by other people. My point is that this is a complex issue that is difficult to understand if we focus too much on rappers or the clichés of pointless violence that is in American entertainment in general.
So how you explain Bumpy Johnson
this is one of my favorite eps, this debate was much needed.
"this is not suppose to be positive, this music is negative because the streets are negative"
-Ice T
Now we see why Bigga is gone
....loving this episode
Love the convo
Math stop the cap.. u know he's right..
No he’s not will yall please stop pointing the finger at rap music for every thing dam.
@@clyderobinson3475if he not right...why are kids these day killing each other than???
@ashijinjr why did kids kill in 1971? 700 murders in Detroit that year and they were listening to the ojays
@@ashijinjrthe same exact reasons kids were killing each other prior to rap music
2pac was a genius artist cause he knew what types of lyrics will last the test of time.
Great conversation brothers!!
Salute Mecca! Most important point made yet! Most of these children don’t have that father presence in their life and so they ARE influenced by the music. Same as gangs. Crazy how seemingly obvious truths are so hard for some of us to accept or acknowledge (on public platforms) 👀🤔
We need people like Dee1 to wake people like Math up 🎉🎉
Glad somebody got the balls to say it protect this man at all cost
💯💯💯🤎🤎🤎we need 2 stop normalizing the phuckery
Dee-1 said why FOLLOW someone if they're NOT a Leader!? 🤔😳🤷🏿♂️ FACTS 💯✊🏿💪🏿
Now this episode is going to be one of my favorites
Salute my brother 🙏🏾 💯
Math is wild. One second.." sexy red is not good to listen to" the next minute " it's ok to say negative ish in rap"....
“Legendary Christian” 😂😂😂😂😂😂yo math you mad funny.
Get em Dee
Yall shoulda did this live
Agree with Mec on everything he said about hip hop. The last statement Math said is on point
Dee1, it was metaphorical context in hip hop back then also cautionary tale driven
all it take is one song, you never know who you are influencing!
These rap podcasts owe jayz their life .
Lyrics back then speaks metaphorically & now artist are speakin more literal to where it pertain to real life events
You can rap about whatever but you gotta understand that glorifying murder, drugs, and prostitution is NOT normal. It should be fringe. But it’s not..
A Matter oF Opinion...indeed
💯
Its a thin line between playing devil's advocate and making dumb arguments
And THIS man REAL-LY did, 𝐁𝐎𝐓𝐇 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️!….
Music is a mantra and it can be very influential to the undeveloped mind. Remember the human brain doesn't fully develop until between the ages of 25 - 30. So, be cognizant of what you feed your mind. You might watch the same movie a few times a year but most people listen to the same songs daily.
Yall talking to the wall on this conversation. Math knows the truth man, he cappin on this one
Good Point DEE1…
If rap music would have never existed the issues in the streets and the black community would still be there
That’s like saying “If Sony never advertised PlayStation, people would still own them”.
I won’t sit here and go through the trickle down affect in changing history, had PlayStation originally only sold 20-30% of what they did. But you can make the connection in the difference of reaching out and instilling a self destructive ideology to the masses versus the percentage that are literally backed into a corner of developing that ideology naturally on some animalistic shit.
@@dlrowmotemoclew All you have to do is look at the crime rates in the 1970’s and 80’s before gangsta rap was even popular, I disagree with a lot of the content in rap music but I’ve never believed people commit crimes, sell drugs, gangbang or any other violent crime because of what music they listen too, I’ve always felt you can criticize rap music and other negative aspects of black culture , but ultimately humans are going to do what they want to do regardless of what entertainment they consume
We didn’t create the drama, white america set the campaign
@@larryconnerjr1835I have to wholeheartedly disagree with that. There’s tons of physiological experiments that shows that the behavior of humans can very easily be drastically affected by even the most minuscule amount of influence. Look at the Stanford prison experiment for example. But it’s not as cut and dry as saying someone is committing a crime solely because they listened to a song. It’s much deeper than that. But I can give a surface level example. I’m from New Orleans Louisiana. Gang culture has never been a prominent thing here. It’s always been about what ward you’re from. In Wayne’s prime, he suddenly started claiming blood. I was in high school at the time. I had a small outsider bit of knowledge about gang culture because I’m a huge fan of old school west coast music. So I was put off when immediately after Wayne started claiming blood, everyone around me out of NOWHERE were wearing red bandanas and claiming piru. Not a single one could’ve told you where the name even came from. I remember asking a few of my friends “Ight so. Remind me…who jumped you in?” Just as a joke. I used to mess with them all the time but it really grew into a huge thing. Now was there technically gang members in the city before hand? Of course. They’re everywhere but there isn’t or wasn’t a branch here, it was just not a thing. No one gaf about colors, no one threw gang signs, no one claimed blocks, searching for rivals to do a drive by on or none of that.
We can both agree that rap music isn’t the root or main cause of crime and that crime in the black community would exist without it. I just find it extremely hard to believe that the way we treat or view each other wouldn’t be as sickening if it wasn’t for that influence.
Dee1 is 100% right 💯
Frank Lucas gave out turkeys to lol
Facts, why reach for just one ya know

Math acting like he got XX chromosome the way he duck and dodges accountability like a female... 2pac has a interview talkin about how rappers have a responsibility for the type of music they put out RIP to the goat

Mecca lost his point when he started bringing up Busta, Red, & Meth all have street content in their songs
No he didn’t. His point was even though they may have that content in some records, that’s not the bulk of their content and it’s not what we associate them with.
I'm from 🇿🇦 I grew up on 50cent 21years I was 10years old but wasn't doing what he was doing growing n I still listen to him n other old school rappers as Gat Murda said n still do till this day
