- Dee-1 is not your typical hip-hop artist. As a passionate advocate for social change, he uses his platform to spread positivity and hope, inspiring listeners to be their best selves. His latest album, “UNO” debuted at #4 in the world on the Apple Music/iTunes Hip-Hop Charts, proving that his message resonates with people all around the world. But Dee-1 is not content to rest on his laurels. In a recent interview, he called out industry hypocrisy, taking aim at rappers who talk about prison reform and other social issues, while glorifying violence in their lyrics.

We need brothers like Dee-1 to keep us honest. Great for the Black community.
A lot of us are tired of fake gangsta rap. Keep pushing Dee1
Almost gave up on hip hop until hearing this guy. I'm instantly a fan. He's not a slave to the money and REALLY cares about the black community. Not just a sound bite. Big SALUTE!
Never heard of this man until today but i promise I will support his music because we need more of this.
This brother is touching people for real. I love how he's making other rappers uncomfortable and it's only because he's speaking the truth and they know it. Keep up the message brother.
Praise God for this brotha speaking FACTS!!!
The brother is 💯% correct. We all are accountable. Dee-1 has my support
As a youth pastor, Dee-1 is one of those artists that I make sure to try and connect my students to! He lives out being real, righteous and relevant. Someday I hope to get to meet him and even more, would love to bring him in concert to our community!
"If you feed your family of 4 but poison the minds of 4 million, is that worth it?"
Dee 1’s been a force for over a decade. People have been sleeping, but we BEEN on!!! Love this dude. This is a real artist and intellectual. I LOVE THIS INTERVIEW. Shit almost had me crying. That’s crazy.
PROTECT THIS MAN BY ALL COST
FINALLY AN ARTIST IN THE RAP GAME I CAN BLAST OUT IN THE CAR WITH MY 7 and 4 YEAR OLD PRESENT!!! THANK YOU🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Man I'm over here in tears this man is a blessing thank you dee 1
Thank you sway for bringing this brother to help uplift the black community.
Man, this is a tough journey Dee-1 is on. I appreciate his humbleness, honesty, and unselfishness. It makes people like me know that God is with me and allows me to try to be as open as he is. Thank you for that sir! Reppin' da Boot and Praisin' God!
Yoooo this dude gives me the fn chills. Big shout out to New Orleans for breeding this one. Thank u
I am so happy someone is finally speaking out about these issues we are currently facing. HIP HOP went from focusing on positive messages, self-awareness and community reform to straight destruction. It's quite sad to be honest. I am on the same spectrum as Dee -1 when it comes to my music. Chirstian based hip-hop with a conscious message. Keep grinding brother!
How have I not been aware of Dee1? This dude is so wholesome man.
The tearing up of the money was huge for me. I recently lost my job of 15 years, working for the state, and didn't feel sad or mad about it. B'cuz deep down I wasn't going to be a slave for the money. It has been a humbling eye opening experience that I embrace through and through. I'm glad I caught this interview.
Dee-1 is the truth. Let the shift in black culture commence... it's time!!
