The HissingOfSummerLawns lp marks Joni's shift from pop-rock/jazz to straight ahead- & progressive-jazz, with a dash of then-newly emerging world-music thrown in. Thanx so much for continuing to feature my personal fav singer-songwriter/performer, period!
Without a shadow of doubt, one of the greatest singer song writers of all time, pure poetry.Songs to a Seagull,is a fantastic album, and a personal favourite.
Thanks for playing this. It's one of the smoothest, dreamiest Joni tracks and her picture painting with words is perfect. I'm going to keep plugging Broken Social Scene, Besnard Lakes and Spiral Beach for your Canadian content. Particularly BSS - 7/4 (Shoreline) is just wonderfully uplifting.
@@hanierfamily I could have sworn that I put track suggestions as well last time. Here are a few: Broken Social Scene: 7/4 (Shoreline), Forced To Love, Stars And Sons, Passport Radio, Hotel Brendan Canning: Churches Under The Stairs Besnard Lakes: Necronomicon, Glass Printer Spiral Beach: Teddy Black, Periscope, Scour + Devour
One of my favourites of hers. Everything about it is perfection, especially the production.
The lyrics so stark and straightforward so clean capturing a moment
Capturing a lifetime
If you dig this then you’ll love Shades of Scarlett Conquering and the title track from this album. Absolutely brilliant.
This album and Hejira are yin and Yang, you should explore them both….I think they are her best albums.
70s very strong album.

Hissing to Mingus marks her most creative and avant-garde period. They cemented her as one of my favorite musicians

Check out on this same album, "The Jungle Line." in which she plays a mood synthesizer against a track of Burundi tribal drummers--totally wild.
That's a moog!
Nice.

Blue is usually cited as being Joni's essential album.........incorrect in my opinion, this album claims that prize.
For The 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Hejira is top of the pile for me!
Right
Joni isn't my thing but she does have a fantastic voice and she is good at what she does.
