  • What does smell have to do with happiness? Find out now!
Co-Director of Taste and Smell Center at the US National Institute of Health Dr. Paule Joseph and Blueme founder Mei Xu will discuss the impact of the sense of smell on everyday wellbeing. We have evolved to detect complex aromas and scents that send signals to the brain’s limbic system, which is important for emotion, memory, and learning.
Many people lost their sense of smell due to COVID-19, which prompted the National Institutes of Health to partner with Blueme to evaluate the loss of smell and develop programs to train it back.
To fully embrace the wellbeing benefits using our sense of smell, the two experts suggest that we start our day with a morning walk or, as the Japanese call it, forest baths.
In the afternoon, use a reed diffuser as we practice yoga or movement. In the evening, include herbs in our foods and take in the amazing aromas surrounding us. Follow your nose to happiness.
