My dad took us to Vic’s AND Pete and Elda’s for decades. I miss it! Vic’s sauce is FANTASTIC! And man is the collection of Jersey Shore towns the best places to grow up in!

When a reviewer can put aside his personal preferences in favor of some sort of uniform standard, it's a good thing. The greatest bar pie on earth simply doesn't match the quality and craftsmanship of something like Lucali and Dave knows that.

for a bar pie in a shore joint I'd say 8.3 is a 8.9+ for a Non-subgenre pie! in NJ there's 3 types of pizza, Legit spots like this, hype and Poop. Personally If I see fresh basil don't get angry, just disappointed

The BEST pizza in all of New Jersey. I’ve been eating Vic’s since I was like 5, grew up right down the street, worked there as a teenager, so did my sister, and my brother + cousin worked in the pie room for years as well. The sauce, the thin crust, the cheese…legitimately the best pie you will ever eat. People drive from miles and miles away for Vic’s and wait for 2+ hours in the summer and it’s totally worth it

Jersey has some very good bar pie for sure. Vic's, Federicci's and De Lorenzo's are my top three. For a football pizza(as Dave describes it) I really like Brooklyn Square.

I grew up in that area. Vic's has the best thin crust pizza I've ever had. The place is homey and the staff very friendly.

He rates different types of pies different levels. A traditional pie can get a 9, while a bar pie would be lucky to ever get a 8.5
