You've got an awesome setup! I'm also in the Portland area, and its interesting to see how you utilize the green house in our area.

Glad your doing these videos. I'm close but higher up near cascade foothills. I'm getting ready to set up so any advise is amazing.

I just found your videos. I am down in Salem, so it is nice to watch someone from my general area. I was wondering what are the dimensions of your greenhouse?

20 ft long by 10ft wide and 12 ft high at the apex of roof. It was a kit from Costco.

Love your channel. I am also putting hardy annuals and cool vegetables into unheated greenhouse. I am nervous about the colder temps this week so will bring in some seedlings and put frost cloth over others just to be safe.

That sounds like a good plan. I'm more harsh and risky with my plants, temping fate... let's see how cold hardy they actually are, LOL.

Ive noticed lots of bulbs/flowers starting to pop up outside, and the ones in my pots waiting in the garage are trying to come up as well. I've ended up moving some indoors to just enjoy in the house lol.

Are you moving them back outside at some point? Looks like many bulb flowers are getting close to blooming. Crocus are out!

Thinking I'm going to attach my greenhouse to south wall of my house. Let both help temperature control eachother when optimal.

That sounds like it could work well. I would just make sure there the humidity or moisture doesn't effect the side of your house.

@@PDXGardenHome that's my concern as well. I get 111 inches of rain here a year. Doing as much research as possible to figure a way to do this and still protect house.

@@PDXGardenHome Thinking i will need solar powered fans that come one when humidity reaches a certain level.

A black floor would probably keep it warmer. If you don't want to paint your pretty brick, I'd put down black plastic in the winter.

If you use a heater it’s not unheated, is it?

I think suppliers will probably be different for you in the UK versus for me here on the West coast of the US, but I would lean toward poly carbonate over glass. I have glass for the look of it, but the poly will retain heat better.

Supposed to snow Tuesday Wednesday I'm wanting to redo greenhouse mine was made from 3 shipping crates a huge pallet did not fit in moving truck from U-Haul or buddy's p/u truck and some frosted plastic 4 m thick outta home Depot

      @PDXGardenHome  Рік тому

If I were to build another greenhouse with efficiency and keeping heat in mind, I would look at that 4m frosted plastic. Plus I would just have a smaller space, easier to keep the heat in.

I just bought a green house kit today but now I'm having 2nd thoughts. I'm in zone 7-7b borderline. I'm having some worries about how to properly secure it to the ground in case of high winds. Do you have any advice for me ? Also I was concerned weather it would be beneficial in my zone. I saw a video on a man that lives in zone 8b that says he can't grow in the winter. Do you have any insight for me on my situation?

I'm not sure. We get some high winds occasionally but not on the regular. My Greenhouse kit was designed to anchor at the corners with 3ft steel stakes. That with the sheer weight of the metal frame and glass windows seems to keep it securely in place. I'm more worried about glass panels breaking then the whole structure blowing over.

Hi I am Victoria I like to know evening primroses can you please tell me how to get the seeds or a plant if you wouldn't mind getting back with me when you can thank you very much

Hi Victoria. Here in the Portland, Oregon, I've seen primroses at the Portland Nursery this time of year, in years past. If you aren't in my area, I would try local nurseries in your area. It should be a pretty common late winter plant they carry!
