While we recognize that Freddie Mercury had an incredible voice with a considerable amount of range, power, stamina, and authority, in this particular piece especially, we found that it was not only those things but it was the conviction, the heart, the passion, and the living out the story in the way he sang the song that was our greatest challenge.
You see, singing isn’t just about hitting high notes, or singing in key and so on.
Many would argue that it’s more important how you tell the story and engage the listener in that story, and then bring all of those other technical elements along in order to tell the story in a much more powerful and convicting way.
This is precisely what Freddie Mercury did with songs like “The Show Must Go On” and, in this case, “Who Wants To Live Forever.”

I just love this movie, such great cinematography, music and an incredible love story. The way they cut scenes is incredible and when Connor brings her home to modern Scotland, what a great moment. That's the way love should be, showing someone who you really are and bringing them to the place where you began.

I am a goldsmith and diamond setter by trade with a lot of other qualifications including sound engineering and a very good friend of mine is Paul Nissin from the old band 4 Jacks and a Jill. I started music at the of 8 and I turned 60 in February but still play in the band at Bikers Church Joburg. I just wished the present band leader would step down because he plays wrong notes and often sings wrong and blames it on me and the other band members. I love that church because the minister keeps us on our toes speaking 1 minute English and the next minute Afrikaans and you sure feel the Holey Spirit move when he preaches and the best is he forgets the English word and gives it to us in Afrikaans and the congrigation gives him the English word. Thank you for the compliment you gave to me today.

Okay, Ken, is there ANYTHING out there that this siren CAN'T SING?!?!?!?!? Her treatment of this iconic classic is simply HAUNTINGLY gorgeous! I love the soft, sultry breathy vocals in the beginning, then she builds to the incredible crescendo and just belts this baby out like it needs to be! With the new Highlander movie FINALLY getting some traction, this only helps to fuel the hype. I could only HOPE that they want to use THIS version for the movie if we're lucky. Now, I wonder how she would sound if she sang 'Princes of the Universe'?!?!?!
Another throwback to 2011, to Superstar, where she sang this song ⚡️ Every time I listened to that Superstar version, I always wondered what it would sound like today ☺️ It’s clearer and probably better technically. The old version is still charming though, and back in 2017 it was shared on Brian May’s facebook page 😀 Anyways, Gabi is a star 😎💫
