Thoughts on the brief live action moments? . . Ngl thinking back it kinda took me out of it. Background stuff would have been fine but would have preferred they’d animate spoiler and the other scenes from the movies
I could totally vibe with *spoiler* not being animated because I think they're really trying to make an homage to his huge influence to Miles creation in the comics. As for the other scenes, yeah definitely could've been animated that could still resemble their original scenes... maybe something like What If art style could've worked there. That and the fact that the youngest of the 3 live action Peters is still not in the movie yet.
yeah I mean in retrospect it wasn’t too odd, but I do think the scenes with *spoiler* just chilling with an all animated background was odd but for the scenes directly taken from *spoiler* they looked good enough, they are clearly taking their own artistic direction here but I would love to see how the community would give these characters their own animated styles
To me it helps show how many spider universes the are, including the live action trilogies and the mcu, its gonna bring the spider verse and the mcu together
Exactly. Like most of Phase 4 ranged from okay to just bad but between this and GOTG 3, it shows that the problem wasn't fatigue, but quality. Blue Beetle looks like another solid Superhero movie
What I love about this movie is you just can't take anything for granted. Hobie is used as a gag in his opening scene and then it slowly falls away and reveals that of everyone in the story, HE is the one that supports what Miles is doing the most. His character is EVERYTHING Miles is gunning for - freedom, breaking down the system and finding your own path.
It also sets up how we’re not SUPPOSED to like him because of Gwen and his relationship. But even WE can’t help but like him because he’s just so goddamn cool.
Hobie was one of the many highlights of the movie, from his character design, especially the 70's punk rock aesthetic, to his role in the story. Not to mention Daniel Kaluuya's vocal performance, who is always a treat.
I think that’s an excellent point about the audience being made to dislike him before seeing him, and the writers having the intelligence to actively contrast that initial narrative to make the audience love him even more. I mean I’ve seen the movie twice already within the first two days of it being released and I love ever single moment that Hobie is on the screen because of his snide comments and beautiful addition to the dynamic
Miguel is either wrong or lying to Miles. He's caught in a paradox. Assuming that Miles is an anomaly, he isn't a true Spiderman. Therefore, he should not have a canon event: There is no need to let his dad die to protect the multiverse. Otherwise, If his dad's death is required to protect a Canon event, then it means Miles is not an anomaly and is a true Spiderman.
Yea he is wrong about miles not being spider man but tbh i feel like people just want Miguel to be wrong just so miles is right but if I'm being real both are in the wrong miles wants to save his dad but if he does break canon he would basiclly kill his mom,mj,aunt may and so many others for just his dad
I know this comment is old but he also never glitches in his universe so I feel like that shows he’s not an anomaly too ? And Miles’ world doesn’t fall apart after Peter B dies. But I hope your idea of him not needing a canon event is right so we don’t have to see his dad die 😅
Yup, one more thing to add is that while Miguel tried to make It seem like Miles stoping Pavitr's Canon event almost caused The destruction of his universe, If you think about It, that Black hole was caused by The spot and was literally there before Miles stopped The Canon event
I would get the whole canon thing if Miles' universe didn't already have a Peter of its own who went through all the canon shit already, Miles has no reason to be victim of these events
If I have any nitpicks, and I mean ANY nitpicks, this film ought to have a warning label for those who are prone to epileptic seizures. That one aside, IT'S PHENOMENAL
I was wondering about that too, it’d be cool if they could edit together a version that’s more accessible for people with epilepsy, though idk how practical that’d be.
Well in the comics miles's mother was killed by Ultimate universe venom and he quit for a year and at the time his dad also kicked him out of the house whe. He found out he was spider-man
Her speech to Miles was really good. You can tell she really cares about him feeling like he belongs but makes sure to let him know he can always come back, W mom in my book.
@@SyLuX636 Neither. Miles will die. He MUST break the cycle. The third truly heroic option is clear. Plus those aren't options at all...Gwen lives no matter what already confirmed she's getting a solo film, Rio can't because these aren't the comics they're a critique of the comics. You kill Miles if blood is demanded. Though the story the canon itself is evil to demand such.
The use of colors during Gwen’s backstory blew me away. They express emotion unbelievably well. Every frame was a painting, and I'm not exaggerating. Gwen’s world in particular was a visual feast. This movie was a literal masterpiece.
Her scenes with her dad were fantastic. I also want to bring up that Hailee Steinfeld is a 10/10 voice actress. Some big celebrities feel like they're going through the motions at times when voicing animated characters, but Hailee (both as Gwen and as Vi in Arcane) is just flat out amazing when she does voice work.
I also loved the part where she talks with her dad again and the background fully disappears and turns into abstract art so you're just fully focused on Gwen and her dad and nothing else
I mean Kang in the comics isn't really a multiverse guy he's a time travel guy, there's some overlap between the two with alternate timelines, but the MCU completely blended the two together
And i thought Spot was just going to be a random villain that Miles was going to beat at the beginning of the movie just to have a cool. Oh boy, i was COMPLETELY wrong hahahahaha
🤬frfr. Literally almost every villain seems like bigger threat than Kang because who the hell loses to ANTMAN. It's shameful really Johnathan Majors is a great talent.
One of my favorite things about this movie is the fact that even when Miguel just outright insults Miles' existence, Miles doesn't give an F and keeps going. Sure, it kind of traumatizes him during his swing sequence but he just continues to stand up for himself rather than angsting on it for the third act.
I loved that after he said he wasn't afraid of anything, you actually see him be a lot more stern and measured when under pressure. He's really not taking anything from anybody right now, not even himself.
Which is another reason why his mom is the best, she literally gave him all of the details of not getting lost and taking care of that boy that she raised before he left their universe.
I love how Spider Punk is depicted as this instigating force for good in this movie, because yeah, the message feels very punk. ‘Don’t accept horrible things happening because ‘thats just the way it works’’ is an essential essence of Punk IMO, and Hobie being the pure embodiment of Punk that he is helps Miles down that road of saying ‘fuck this, i decide my own story regardless’. Im just happy that Hobie, and Punk in general, was represented so fucking well in this movie and embodies why i LIKE punk in the first place. Made me feel very warm and happy inside. And ‘its a metaphor for capitalism’ called me and my writing out hardcore
Hobie is great af. Also, the fact that he continuously changes colours in every scene to fit his lack of conformity to a particular "style". It's also a welcoming surprise that a Sony film DIDN'T screw anarchy and actually had it worked into Hobie's character and motivation.
I love Punk and Hobie was easily my favorite part of the movie. The film did a great job of using him to represent what I consider the core ethos of punk. Sometimes try to be a problem but always try to be a help. It's not just about antagonizing the system that keeps people down it's about standing up for everyone who the system tries to keep down.
I like Hobie because you really get the idea that as much as he rebels against the system, he's still Spiderman, he's still stuck within the system. So while he can push others to rebel, get them to question, he can't lead them. He needs Gwen, he needs Miles to do that. He can start the revolution, but only Gwen and Miles can lead it to success.
"Nah. Imma do my own thing." That line is going to *_DEFINE_* who Miles Morales is as a character going forward. Where as previously it was "that's all it is Miles. A leap of faith." Before it was someone else who helped define him. Now, he's defining himself. They've done a great job at setting up the fact he does things his way; he doesn't just swing across NYC he runs, he does parkour cause that's what MILES is good at and loves to do. His god damn shoelace is still untied in that iconic falling/rising shot. He openly challenges Miguel where most everyone just seems to blindly follow. He does graffiti and tags places across NYC. His own suit is a showcase of who he is and what he loves to do. And it breaks the mold of what a traditional Spider-Man suit looks like and how it's often made. Miles at his core is about redefining what it means to be Spider-Man; that he isn't JUST Spider-Man. He's Miles Morales too. Which is something the other spiders seem to forget. That Peter had to be reminded of. That you can be both the person under mask, and the hero. I think they're going to set it up to have him finally break the curse of Spider-Man. And it's going to be amazing to witness.
i think thats even a unique thing about his new costume, the lack of webs around it is pretty different and him and miguel specifically are the only ones who have upside down emblems on their back and that tells the story of them alone
I think this is a great take, but a large part of why I relate to Spider-Man as both a character and idea so much is because his moral challenges are complicated and extra challenging, and his solutions are never perfect solutions. Early in the film, Miles's school counselor and parents remark on Miles's trying to have his cake and eat it too. Miles asserts that that he'd just bake two cakes (he wants to have it all). Moments later, he picks up two cakes instead of one for his dad's celebration (because his cake message was too long, he's doing too much) which causes a domino effect of events (public transportation and baddies) that ruin both cakes. While I love to see Miles develop his own intimately personal identity as his own Spider-Man, the grounded and real lessons and takeaways from Spider-Man's losses, sacrifices, and undying perseverance are what makes the character so enduring. Regardless of how the writers choose to define Miles and how they write his choices and actions, I want to see real consequences from his actions that he needs to process and push forward through.
Spider-Punk is so amazingly written. Mixing the 1970s british Punk Rock culture with his amazing style of animation is so beautiful to watch. it shows that the animators not only care about the characters, but the cultures and communities they arise from. 11/10 movie
@@diersteinjulien6773 That explains his connection with Miles. They both might've been villains, but they became heroes who still have that one thing that makes being a villain make sense: not wanting to be controlled.
The biggest take away I got from the movie was how they handle 'canon', saying 'this needs to happen', 'this person needs to do', like it's a commentary about how writters keep trying to make Spidey more 'interesting' by piling one more tragedy. For miles to go out against every spider man, most of which are versions of peter parker that have grown content with the idea that they can't save everyone, to me at least, tells me...Spider man doesn't HAVE to be defined by tragedy. Miles lost his uncle, but he still has both his parents, something unique to most spider men, even to most super heroes. Sure spider man has struggles to over come, but we as an audience are just as invested in his win's as we are with his struggles. We WANT good things to happen to spider man.
I really wonder what kind of magic and message they’ll pull out for the third film. Cause it’s gonna have to be a wild resolution, how to defeat the spot who is almost entirely spots (where back in old times Spider-Man just has to fight him enough until he ran out of spots) And for Miguel I wonder how his character might redeem himself. But most importantly, how about the message, how much does it take to change and go against fate.
@@TH_Sofa That's what worries me. I see the metaphor, but how will it be resolved? We saw that messing with canon screws with a universe of that Spiderman and considering what Miguel says, they've seen it multiple times. How could they solve the issue without it being an asspull?
@@helsmify Mmm, yeah to break the conception that Spiderman MUST lose these very specific things.... Miles will have to go above and beyond to save everything.... And on a personal level, I don't think us watchers may be ready to know what he really has to do (and god forbid you know what I am referencing as an ultimate sacrifice).
I think that the third movie is gonna redefine spiderman forever. I mean the first raimi movie redefined spidey by showing that it was uncle Ben who said the line "with great power comes great responsibility" And every incarnation of spidey has been following that ever since BUT in the actual comics, it was never uncle Ben but actually stanlee who said that through his commentary. So I think the third movie will end with such a redefining moment .
What I found sort of intriguing is how the live action No Way Home movie was showed MCU Spider-Man the consequences of defying determinism, “wanting to have it all while the world made him choose”. while this movie seems to be about miles motivating himself to defy determinism.
@@popopop984yeah, the whole plot happens bc Peter keeps distracting dr strange when he should have thought about what he wanted the spell to do before he did it
I think a lot of the “I’m going to do my own thing” is the writers and creators interjecting their own philosophy about art. Spiderverse has unconventional animation, it uses previous material to morph and transform into their own unique thing-even making an explicit point to how they’re deviating from the canon and “doing their own thing” through Miles. Hell, Spot was a pretty forgotten and kind of weak villain in the comics, and now he’s arguably one of the most powerful and menacing villains in popular superhero media. They changed his entire backstory: he entered his own portal he’d created in the comics, as opposed to being caught in the explosion of the collider in Spiderverse. Probably one of the most conceptually terrifying villains overall too, IMO. Spiderverse is rated PG, but squeezes out a lot of content you’d think would be rated higher, such as swearing a few times (not complaining, just observing lol). This second movie, ESPECIALLY, is not afraid to include political messages and symbols: both subtly through background signs/etc., and through Hobie as an entire being tbh. Spiderverse isn’t the typical animated movie. THBH I’m not sure if could be considered a kids movie anymore either-not because kids shouldn’t watch it, I’d say anyone over the age of 5 should-but rather because it’s deliberately a movie meant to connect with and appeal to ALL AGES. Usually this is done by having separate messages and plot lines that are slotted together-working well, but not melded into one universal message. Spiderverse, however, tells stories and gives messages that anyone of any age can understand and relate to. Defining who you are and what you want in life is a part of EVERYONE’S lives, and they will experience that at different times, maybe even multiple times in one life. And that’s what I really love about this movie. It’s breaks the conception in our heads of what an animated movie should be. It’s not a kids movie, it’s not an adult animation, or YA movie, or even a *Spiderman* movie in a sense. Spiderverse is Spiderverse. This series is it’s own-each movie is just it’s own movie, not a subcategory.
Spider-Verse is a movie that earned the PG rating. Majority of PG films tend to be G-rated but with a teeny bit of innuendo or adult reference. Wish there were more films rated PG that actually utilise the rating than simply for the sake of avoiding a G rating.
Pretty sure there is a no fuck other Spiderman rule in the text book or else shit can down the drain fast with Spider kids from diferent Dimension Spiderman people.
I just appreciate that these movies are helping remove the stigma that animated films can’t be emotionally powerful and enjoyable to all audiences. I’m still annoyed the Oscar’s have a animated section as if it’s a genre when it’s really a medium for any genre.
It’s also tackling the stigma of spider man himself as a character, challenging the idea of canon for spider men and showing miles who is breaking the mold and being a truly unique spider man
exactly. hearing my classmates talk about spiderverse is such a breathe of fresh air. you are able to talk about animation without it getting ridiculed for it being childish. this is what i’ve been waiting for!!
@@spoodyR3That “Unique” idea is the reason why I hate ending of No Way Home. I think that THIS Peter is pretty unique with his Spider Team. But the plot just like “ No,You are freaking Spider Man you can have freaking friends”.
When I was watching this in the theater everyone in the audience started cheering when Lego Spider man appeared. Wish we saw more of him interacting with the other spiders
Since the spot was huge, I'm guessing the Lego Spidey would be on someone's shoulder or something. Can't wait for this movie to come out on streaming and reveal he was on someone's shoulder the whole time 😂
Miles and Gwen are a LOT cuter here than in the first film, not that their portrayal was bad!! It’s just that you get to see their relationship through *both* of their perspectives. In the first film, we only see Miles crushing on Gwen since the story is primarily told by his point of view. We get some instances of where Gwen seems like she might be interested, but nothing fully concrete, and the end really painted it out as the two “just being friends.” But as SOON as the new film opens up, we get a glimpse into Gwen’s perspective of the first film, and you could absolutely see her regret going back and leaving miles. And throughout the entirety of the prologue the second film, we see her absolutely PINING for Miles and that the relationship was indeed very much reciprocated. It’s just that, as we come to learn, she distances herself from people she cares about to avoid hurting them. This is readily apparent when she mentions to Miles, “In every other universe, Gwen Stacy falls for Spider-Man…” And as Miles moves in closer, Gwen notices, and deflects with, “…and in every other universe, it doesn’t end well,” causing Miles to cease his reach. What absolutely pains me about this is the fact that she has access to the Multiverse. So she has probably come across tens, if not, hundreds of the universes with Gwen and Spider-Man. And she more than likely saw most of them ending happily. Rio, Miles’ mother’s words echo through these scenes and likely in the future: “Never doubt that you are loved.” She does love you man. ❤
Damn this comment hit hella hard, Miles and Gwen are both so perfectly written and their relationship is the most I’ve been invested in a fictional relationship in so long, really love them
she probably saw tens, hundreds of universes where versions of her died while loving spiderman which is why she was so afraid. plus it's confirmed that she is the only spider gwen, so it makes her even more afraid since there isn't any other version that escapes this and that it might be that other versions that love spiderman are dead, or will die. That's why she's telling miles that it doesn't end well. to protect herself, and miles
I really like Spot, and how while he seemed like a joke at first, he gradually became more threatening as the film progressed. But it was weird how he just disappeared in the second half.
the second half is kind of what brings the film slightly below the first film for me, it kind of feels like a lot of set up for the eventual payoff of the next with not a lot being resolved, still great, but did bring it down.
You're kinda right about that, He just did his own thing after he went god mode but that was to focus of things such as Miguel O'hara and the other Spider-People and it also helped with the plot twist and cliffhanger.
Just want to get this outta the way. No huge spoilers When Spider-Man India (no joke, that’s what he’s called on IMDB) talks about what chai actually means, I got the feeling that that was on someone’s pet peeve list for the longest time. And I respect whoever wrote it in.
Apparently that was something Karan Soni (Pav's voice actor) added in when the writers asked if there was anything he'd like to contribute to the script.
@@belindaluna2067as another Indian, I myself never thought of the term "chai tea" that odd until I heard 3 times and then realized how annoying that feels 😂
I was so nervous about the potential love triangle, I almost physically sighed in relief when Hobi turned out to be pure badass. I love all these characters so much, they exceeded every expectation
Interestingly enough the argument Miles has with Miguel is the same one Peter (the original one) had with Miguel in one of the Spider-Man games, goes to show just how well Miguel’s character works even like 10 years later Miles here is a true successor to Peter in a multiverse where the true values of Spider-Man have been lost in translation thanks to Miguel’s fear I just hope Miguel doesn’t die and gets to realize his mistake
@@dojaboytan4559 Miguel is not the villain, he is simply the pseudo-antagonist, The Spot is the villain. If Miles somehow does defeat Miguel and the other spidermen, then there will be no way in hell they beat the spot.
as soon as i saw that Miles's red jacket was now purple i was like "oh yeah Miles in this universe is the prowler" but i still just was screaming when it actually happened
The Spot's fumbling at the start of the movie reminded me of Miles' stumbling when his powers first emerged in the first movie. And, like Miles, Spot just needed some experience to fully blossom.
@@Pixelusually Technically yes. If he didn't create the spider that travelled to Miles 1610 universe (I think that's right) Miles wouldn't have become spiderman and wouldn't have thrown that bagel at him.
The way the spots backstory ties so well with this movie is amazing. The way he connects himself to Miles as a a way to actually be hurt and disrespected in such a way. The bagel that Miles threw is the same bagel that hit the spot in the previous movie.
As an artist, that dreams of going into the animation industry, I wanted to screen cap this entire movie. Every single frame was an absolute masterpiece, and all deserve to be turned into lock screens.
Fun Fact: There was a deleted scene between 2099 and Miles when 2099 called Miles the "original Anomaly". Miles responded saying "maybe the real anomaly was the kids we lost along the way...?". Hearing this, 2099 went apeshit as Miles laughed and did the peace out disappearing meme.
This movie not only surpasses the original in every way, but it also feels its a meta commentary on the nature of Spider-Man comics and the comic book industry as a whole. The very fact that Miguel is obsessed with ensuring that moments that are literally called "canon events" feels like its taking a jab at how comic publishers/ editors believe that certain status quos must always be maintained along with believing that the only way a hero can grow as a character is by having someone in that hero life die. Yet Miles serves as the audience surrogate who believes that such thinking is inherently flawed. This don't have to be set in stone, and a hero can grow without needing to kill someone in their life. This is more relevant then ever considering how Kamala death in the current Amazing Spider-Man run is complete bullshit.
@@Sqwivig Same! Like seriously, the moment Miguel started saying "Canon Events' and began talking about how those canon events need to always happen, I could instantly tell that this is a total dig at the nature of comic books.
Yea! Especially seeing MayDay and Maryjane, knowing that mess the comic book writers put them through to obtain the “status quo”. So glad the writers here gave a middle finger to that and let Peter be happy
Across the Spider-Verse is one of the greatest sequels ever made imo. That’s a sequel done right. It was Spider-Man’s version of The Empire Strikes Back.
Dead on with the canon and established status quo thing. The only bone I have to pick is "and a hero can grow without needing to kill someone in their life." What's vitally important is how a hero deals with failure. The highest form of failure for a hero is when someone dies on their watch even when they try to save them. That's the thing that Miles has never faced and that's what the canon events mean and why they're important. The growth of trying despite failing is something you can only learn WHEN you fail. How does any spider-person deal with trying their hardest and still coming up short. Not killing someone or letting someone die because they have to.
My jaw dropped when I saw that ending, and my mind opened up a whole lot of interesting possibilities the next film would go into. If the third Spider-Verse sticks the landing (and I don't see why it wouldn't), this may go down as one of the absolute best trilogies in the history of movies itself.
Just the way the color tones were constantly changing as emotions were developing to suit the scenes between Gwen and Gwen's father was fuck*ng beautiful.
Yes! The best scene imo was when she’s giving her speech and the walls start dripping/crying, and right at the climax it gets washed out to white so it’s basically only her and her dad left. 💯
I remember watching this in theaters with a friend like two days ago, and when the spot blamed Miles for his condition I went "I bet he was the bagel guy" to my friend, and as soon as It was confirmed I went, "I KNEW IT! He's the bagel man! **realizing gasp** because he's full of holes :)" and we both had to avoid laughing out loud in the middle of a crowded theatre.
@@iBeo01 The ultimate weapon to defeat the spot is gonna be an everything bagel. Just bonk him on the head and it will instantly drain his power /hj I'm really excited for the next part tbh, I can't wait to see the og spider crew (Noir, Penni, and Ham) again, as well as Spider-Byte and Gwen's new recruits! I really can't wait to see what they do with the spot next, the animation potential for his portal-hole power has such amazing artistic and comedic potential, as demonstrated in the first part.
Fun Fact: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller revealed that they told Sony the sequel would be the same size as Into the Spider-Verse but it ended up having the largest crew of any animated movie ever with around 1,000 people working on it.
God bless the dinosaur that died to make the fossil fuel that was treated to become petrol in the car that took mothers to the hospital to give birth to these animators
I like how Hobie and Miles are very similar in the sense they are their own people, although when are first introduced to Hobie it shows very much that he isn’t like any other spider man. Miles knows he’s different but he doesn’t know how exactly while Hobie knows who he is and how he is different. Then in the film Hobie pushes Miles to “Make his own watch” and become his own person as Hobie has already made a watch of his own. That’s why I appreciate Hobie, he was the most honest Spider-Man!
MY HEART DROPPED TO THE FLOOR WHEN I SAW THE PLOT TWIST (The only brightside of being slow like me is that you never see plot twist coming so it *REALLY HITS* when you see it)
I really loved how they gave Gwen a lot more development and backstory over the course of the film. Miles is obviously the main character and the story is about him but Gwen really feels like a co-protagonist. The chemistry between the two of them is also spectacular.
These Spider-Man animated movies are truly taking animation to the next level and never fails to continue inspiring other studios. They made it better than the first one, which a near impossible feat in on itself, and pass in flying colours. Absolute mad production!
I love the mixing of art styles in this series. I like the watercolour look of Gwen's universe and the strong and vibrant colours of Miles's. I like how his suit pops so much in his colourful comic world. I love Hobie's unorthodox style accentuates his movements and, as a result, his actions! These movies are absolute eye candy.
I think my favorite moment of across the spiderverse was actually just one specific cameo in the big chase sequence. It was when Sun Spider (the spider person who was using a wheelchair then crutches briefly) appeared. It makes me incredibly happy to see a disabled character looking as cool and being just as quippy as the other spiders, but also just seeing a character who has the same disability as me on screen (or at all really) was incredible. I genuinely can't think of a single other piece of media that at all portrays a character with Ehlers Danlos, and it just feels so comforting to see, even for just a moment.
in my opinion the ending is absolutely CRAZY, finding out this twist made me feel things just as much as any final fight could, and Spot definitely earned an entire movie dedicated to trying to stop him rather than a 20-30 minute final act
The bits with Toby and Andrew actually stunned me into silence. And I really loved how the first 15-20 mins were all about Gwen. Her ballet style movement is so graceful and appealing to watch, because it works so well with her white, pink and black outfit, fly like a butterfly sting like a bee works for her perfectly. The Vulture was phenomenal, the art style made my jaw drop. And Spots power and design was actually super creative and the more I thought about it and the further i got in the movie the more overpowered and broken I realised his power was. The end credits with him Vs Miles with Spot a Kaiju sized monster was so badass.
I love how natural the ending is specifically Prowler mile's earth when Miles reveals to Rio he's spiderman she just plays it off as a joke and tells him they both have bigger things to deal with. Then we see Aaron is alive here...but there's something off about him from his eyes to the way he helps Rio. Than he talks to Miles like he always would but than he notices that things are different and when he talks to him about robbing a place you can see that he can tell somethingis wrong. Than we're on the roof it's not the same bright community we saw before. It's dark and cold and whatever light we see isn't warm and inviting it's intimidating and hot like it can burn you. After Miles gets knocked out and we're in the apartment Aaron looks at him
Honestly I'm so happy about Hobie, he's the best punk representation I've seen in years; punk characters are usually just boiled down to angsty pretentious angry emos with a punk label slapped on them, but he was truly well done and a breath of fresh air
I am completely blown away with how much love, professionalism and talent that went into this film. This is one of those films that you have to see it in theaters at least once. You won't catch every little detail but what you do catch is just amazing. Like the fight between Miguel and Miles. Miguel had more experience than Miles, but one thing that Miles does have is the element of surprise. Miguel does not have spidey sense, so he gets caught off guard with sneak attacks and he can't react as fast as the other spiderman. Miles seems to be aware of this and only attacks from a distance or trying to get away from Miguel. Until he builds enough strength to send Miguel downward towards the other spidermen. They could have easily gave Miguel spidey sense, but they stayed true to the comics and ir made for some interesting and unique fight scenes. I also just realized. "With Great power comes great responsibility." How can you really call yourself a hero if you are okay with letting someone die to serve the greater good. When you have the responsibility to protect all, at the very least try to help people.
SPOILER COMMENT IN RESPONSE TO SPOILER SECTION Please skip over this if you don't want to be spoiled in anyway. Please and Thank you in advance. Prowler Miles doesn't disprove Miguel's statement to MC Miles being an anomaly, but actually proves it. Since more than likely Prowler Miles like it was mentioned was supposed to be Spiderman there. Lending credit to the line that there's a universe without a Spiderman thanks to MC Miles. Next its not the fact that Miles Morales isn't suppose to be Spiderman, its that Specifically, Earth - 1610 Miles Morales as the Movie puts it, is an anomaly that wasn't suppose to be Spiderman. I think hitting hard and giving more credit to his mothers line about being where people love and want him there.
I think what makes it hard to believe that Miguel is right in any way is how off-putting and brooding his character is in the movie, he actively blames Miles for something that was ultimately not in his control and that wasn't his fault, he didn't chose to get bitten and he wasn't the one to create the collider in the first place, he was the product of an accident that he had no way knowing would be so critical to his life.
@EIite it's Miguel's character being that way due to his own experiences that lend credit to Mama Morales line of "Be where they want you." I'm not justifying Miguel, but he is right. He's going about things the wrong way, though, which brings up her line from the trailer. "We're supposed to be the good guys". While not being a Villain Miguel is the antagonist of the movie. While also being what Miles needs to solidify himself to be himself despite everyone telling him how things should go or keeping information from him.
@@thevaliantone8270 I don't believe he's wrong, I simply believe his methodology is, ultimately it really depends on what they do in the sequel as we lack any further evidence for what would happen regarding the canon event concept beyond the two occurrences shown.
@EIite Then you're pointing out his way doing things is wrong, right? Miguel, that is. To that, I do agree with, and even in my previous comment, mention that Miguel is essentially the antagonist of the movie. That's his role in the movie due to being a more hard boiled Spiderman. The one that will always put the needs of the many over the few which is what makes any Miguel O'Hara Spiderman their respective self. It is wrong how Miguel is doing things but at the same time is needed for the sake of Miles story and maybe development in Miguel's own story too.
@@thevaliantone8270 Yeah pretty much, I do hope they go the route of not really redeeming Miguel (there's not much to redeem because he's not really a villain more just an antagonist to Miles story) but more for them to reconcile their differences and gain a respect for one another, how they do that I've no idea, but eliminating Spot is definitely a starter to that, we'll have to see how that goes.
I was not prepared for that film and it made me believe in cinema again. I haven't been this excited after a film since I saw Lord of the Rings in theaters. I immediately wanted to buy another ticket and see it again
8:51 YES! I kept thinking the same thing, that part of what fuels Miguel's angry towards for Miles where he finally lased out at him was the idea that seeing Miles successfully become spiderman from spider that "wasn't suppose to be there" inspired him to take the risk and that perhaps it had been after his personal tragedy that he established the whole "canon event" ideology and re-evaluated his judgement of Miles as his universe's spiderman. Considering that we know that Peter B Parker was witness to Miguel's variant universe destroying itself I feel like it also possible he helped to encourage Miguel's decision too as Miguel makes a point of saying "isn't that right Peter?" when he says he had been wrong.
This is the Two Towers of the Spiderverse films, and part of that means having the hardest job. ITSV was the Fellowship of the Ring, a total game changer that took us into new territory and hyped us up for what could come next, BTSV is being set up as the epic conclusion where this has all been leading, and thus ASTV is stuck in the unenviable position of 1) meeting everyone's expectations (which it did) 2) introduce us to a bunch of new characters while giving the appropriate amount of attention to our original cast (did it), 3) provide sufficient heightening of stakes to justify its position as connective tissue between the first and third movies (did it). This is a freaking phenomenal piece of art and it's going to be real hard to top this year for animated films - Nimona, Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken, Wish, the ball is in your court.
I highly highly recommend rewatching the first movie after watching the second. Without getting into spoilers, there's several things that I barely even noticed which the second movie makes incredibly important, there's certain character paths which I didn't even realize were being set up, and overall it just makes me love this universe even more. I will, however, disagree with Sarcastic Chorus at 9:40 (in the spoiler section, so be careful). I think Miles absolutely is, as it also flows well with the first movie on a rewatch. However, I don't think that's a bad thing. I think it's a new chance for self definition across all the spider-people.
Agreed. Miles is definitely an anomaly but that doesn't mean he isn't Spiderman. They make it pretty clear that he isn't like the rest of the Spider People but that doesn't mean he isn't one of them.
@@Sqwivig Huh, I guess I may have been unclear in my attempt to avoid spoilers. But since this is a reply, I'll give my thoughts. He is absolutely a Spider person. I also do think his becoming a spiderman did lead to Peter's death (and that follows really well in the first movie). However, I think that his anomalous status lets him sorta shake the trends and will give the spider people a chance to define themselves outside of the canons.
if u watch the first movie u realise that peter dying had literally nothing to do with miles, the spider going to that universe also had nothing to do with him im pretty sure he was supposed to become spider-man as peter was going to die in that fight reguardless
@@xseptit Go back and rewatch it with that specific context. Trust me. He gets bit by the spider, which prompts him to go back to where he got bit, which leads him to stumble into the fight. From there he tries to avoid it for a little while, before getting caught up in it and getting in harms way. That's the point where Peter swings by to save him and they wind up having the conversation. Peter then goes to deactivate the collider and gets sideswiped last moment. Nothing Miles did directly caused Peter to die, but his presence slowed Peter down just enough for Prowler to arrive, the beam to get activated, and the situation to go to crap. Again, I highly suggest rewatching the first movie while specifically thinking about how things that the second addresses line up.
@@bookshop7337 i watched it 10 minutes ago. peter saved miles then left him to the side. miles just sat and watched but he wasn’t the one who got him killed. saving miles was barely an inconvenience for him
Or even a full fledged batman movie that we haven't gotten yet we have 2d animated movies but only dvds but I want an big budget fully flesh out theater animated batman film
Funny thing is, awhile ago I actually heard rumors of them developing an animated Batman Beyond movie. It was even supposed to be DCs answer to Spider-verse.
Couldn’t agree more with you, my friend. We need more animated Marvel/DC movies like Spider-Verse. Batman Beyond with the Spider-Verse art style? Take my money! This art style would also fit for animated movies of Fantastic Four, X-Men and The Flash.
In the first movie you can see when Miles first meets Peter instead of the red and blue spider-sense, Miles had the colours of the prowler next to his head which changed when they looked at eachother showing how this just changed his fate. Just shows the attention to detail these writers and animators are putting into these films you gotta respect it.
So if, from Miguel's POV, Miles is an "Anomaly", wouldn't all of his actions and the events that occurred afterwards count as anomalies, such as oh idk HELPING PETER B. PARKER WORK UP THE COURAGE TO GET BACK WITH MARY JANE? If every event since Miles becoming a Spiderman wasn't supposed to happen, doesn't that mean according to Miguel's whole status quo thing, that Mayday shouldn't exist? Peter B. would've never had his "leap of faith" moment without Miles at the end of the first movie. The man was fully prepared to DIE to stop Kingpin. Just some food for thought :)
I was honestly kind of surprised at how much better the animation was then the first. I literally didn't think they could perfect it even more, but they did!!! So excited for the last part!! 😆😆
Spot's fight scenes are by far some of my favourite uses of portal powers that I've ever seen. He constantly moves both himself and his opponent with them to control the flow of the fight while attacking from all angles to catch them by surprise.
I think we do know that canon events can be stopped and the movie told us this explicitly. When Gwen traveled to miguels universe, she left (which wasn't supposed to happen), and her dad stopped being captain. Presumably, I think the movie is trying to point out that this CHANGED a canon event, but the universe still exists. Gwen realizes this and its why she decides that she is going to form a team to help miles and stop miguel. Think about it unless gwen had proof that canon events can be changed, why would everyone join her in the end.
My biggest complaint is that miles is the only one of all of this multiverse of spidermen who isnt ok with allowing people to die for “character development” in cannon events. This seems like something that is fundamental of the character of spiderman no matter what universe, that they would do everything they can to prevent others from going through the trama that they endure and I cannot comprehend other versions of spiderman we know and love being complicit in Miguel’s actions and beliefs
I need to give a standing applause to the production team and everybody involved on this legendary movie. It is the definition of what art means and it's beautiful.
I saw it in theatre and I didn’t even NOTICE how long it was until it cut off with that one reveal and all our jaws were ON THE FLOOR I love it so much I'll drag my dad with me to go see it a second time
I think this is the first part of a Free Will Versus Predestination story. Miguel has made his choice in the fear of losing too much, even though if he had knowledge beforehand, he probably would have done anything to protect his nearest. Any of the Spider- heroes would. Maybe I'm wrong.
Just got back from my 2nd viewing and only now realising that this segment (07:05) from the 1st trailer wasn't even in the movie & is probably actually from Part II. By the time I stop being hyped the next trailer will release and then before I know it I'll be March
finally watched yesterday (been avoiding spoilers for months) and honestly i was getting excited and hyped up when the ending was playing, i was thinking “how many times am i gonna say ‘This is wild’” been so long since i was left on a cliff hanger that actually left me feeling amazing and no doubt or problem with waiting knowing the next is gonna be amazing bc we’ve seen what these creators/artists can do
I'm glad that you are more open to the idea of the canon event explanation not being complete. A lot of the reaction I've seen online really wants to nitpick that aspect as a *huge* plot hole that brought down the movie. I think it's totally fair considering how the canon event being shown actually happened in the first place. But considering this is a two-parter, I will reserve my judgment for now. Don't get me wrong, I will definitely call it out if they ended up doing nothing about it.
8:17 is a really good point. I feel the quote from Tobie Moguire's spiderman something along the lines of "Not my problem" and letting the dude go up the elevator is what comes to mind.
I’ve already seen this movie the day before the wide release and I’m trying to see it twice more god it’s amazing. It is the best Spidey movie period. CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY WANT TO MAKE A LIVE ACTION MILES?!?? WHY?!?
I had just finished viewing ATSV and absolutely loved it! (Small Spoiler regarding the ending, please read with caution!) Me and a couple of friends were discussing about the movie, until one of them pointed out a potential clue from the first film that showed Miles potentially set for the Prowler’s path in his dimension. After getting bit and going back to find the spider that bit him, eventually Miles meets with that dimension’s Spider Man. They both have a moment with their spider senses trying to get used to each other, however Miles’s colors change during this moment. It goes from a green and purple, to red and blue. Could this be a moment where the path changed as soon as both realize that they’re both the same? Again this was small detail none of us realized until after the 2nd movie, so it could be something completely different!
I was freaking out in the theater. My boyfriend was the one to get me into the spiderman world and he was recently complaining, along with a ton of other people, about how the spider story is tired. We never see them grow up or be adults. Hole is literally the plothole in the Spidey multiverse keeping the status quo. My boyfriend hasn't watched it yet and it's eating me inside. I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH
This movie was simply fantastic from top to bottom, never did I think the Into the Spider-Verse could be topped in terms of story, animation, and overall hype. Yet here I am buying my second IMAX ticket to see this film again! I reviewed the film on my channel with my colleagues, and I feel the same exact way going in for my third watch as I did for my initial one in terms of enjoyment. THE BAR FOR ANIMATED FILMS HAS BEEN RAISED AGAIN!!
Can I just talk here about how this whole chase scene I feel like miles expressions just give me so much pain. If he doesn’t get home his dad will die and hes glitching and if he stays in this dimension for too long he will die and everything this kid has worked for is just a big mistake and he wasn’t supposed to be this way, or Atleast what he thinks. Its just so heart wrenching.
I was so mad when the movie left off on a cliff hanger, like I understand why it had to, but I was just so focused on the movie I didn't even think about the time. The amount of 'wait what?'s and 'no way's I heard at the theater shows how much people wanted the movie to keep going.
Can we all just appreciate one thing real quick. The spider is nothing of note in the first film. Obviously when you watch the movie, you know it will bite Mihles and make him spider man so you don’t question something like “where does it come from.” Then in this film, they explain where it comes from, and it is retroactively supported, by the spider glitching throughout the first film. We didn’t know what glitching meant the first time we saw the spider, but now where we know, we know exactly where it’s from, and it’s something that was at the very least thought about, when they made the first movie. THATS CONSISTENCY!!!!!
On the contrary, we knew exactly what glitching meant. We just didn't connect it to the spider because we didn't know that the collider had already been tested.
The way I see it, No way Home was passing respect to the Spider-Man movies. Across the Spider-Verse was paying respect to Spider-Man as a character and concept
My main nitpick with the film is that it acts like that Miles is the ONLY spider to not immediately side with the Spider Society. It feels like a cheap effort to make him more special in comparison to everyone else. The movie expects me to believe that most spider people would just let someone die, but I don’t buy it. Hopefully, Part 2 expands on this somehow, because I really don’t like narratives that make other characters look worse in order to lift up the protagonist.
Spiderman is about sacrifice for the greater good, his whole journey starts with uncle Ben dying. I think most had no idea about their own "canon" events considering the one Miles messed up shows that world's spider confused when everyone shows up. (He had no idea even though he's part of the team). I think Miguel is the only one who knows for sure and doesn't tell anyone, he only told Miles because he clearly hates him.
@@nerdycurls6253 I disagree strongly. Uncle Ben's death first and foremost was a lesson to Peter about personal responsibility. Evil can only triumph when the good stands aside and all that. Which is why no character that can call himself Spider Man would ever be on board with blindly accepting deaths coming as a result of a poorly defined metaphysical concept. He would fight G-d himself if he for some reason were to believe in his heart of hearts that what He does isn't just or good.
The thing is, to join the spider society, Miguel has to agree to let you in and he’s probably filtering spider people that might be too against the cause or the way he sees things and just like Gwen at the end of the movie, spider people that step too out of line and go against the establishment, then they get sent home and kicked out of the club
@@fillosof66689 Why are people seemingly overlooking that they are operating under the notion that if the canon events don't happen the entire reality collapses? I'm not saying that's actually what's happening but as far as the Spider Society (largely Miguel) believes, saving that one person's life WILL cause the destruction of that reality. Like I agree that it's poorly defined (intentionally so but I'll get to that) but it's not something you can really test. And if it really is the case, TRILLIONS of lives are lost (because it's not just that Earth but the whole universe). I think the writers made the situation somewhat ambiguous so that there's leeway for Miles to be right or at least that there is some way for some reason he can save his father. Because if the canon event idea is something that's like set in stone and completely true, then Miles would be in the wrong to try to save his father at the expense of his reality (which would ultimately kill his father too). Like it's great to say that one would refuse to give up a single life but the reality of the situation as it's presented is that doing so jeopardizes EVERYONE. It's not simply fighting fate to save that person's life, it's the consequences of doing so, what will happen if they do. Again, I'm not saying that canon breaking = destruction of reality IS actually true but that's what they think is the case. To reiterate, the main issue at hand as it's being presented here is not "We should fight "fate" and save this person", it's "Saving this person WILL result in destruction of reality". It's portrayed as something "non-negotiable".
i also thought it was fascinating how the conflict kind of mirrors into the spiderverse's. miles and kingpin both were willing to risk anything to protect their families
Based on the rules the movie establishes, canon events are the opposites of anomalies and the lack of one results in the other. So let's imagine Miguel's perfect timeline: 1. Miles is never bitten and blonde Peter survives 2. Without Miles Spider-Man, the Spot never comes to existence 3. Without the Spot, Officer/Captain Davis is never killed 3a. Mumbai Spider-Man never has his canon event with the death of the inspector either 4. The deaths of both Captain Davis and the inspector are canon events that can only occur because of an anomaly; the creation of the Spot. That's a direct contradiction as anomalies can't cause canon events. Miguel's perfect timeline results in a paradox, so the next movie is going to have to explain that he's wrong about how the multiverse works, and I think it's already setting up for that because, right after Miles escapes to Earth 42, Gwen challenges Miguel, asking if he knows for certain what happens if the timeline ""breaks"" and he never gives an answer.
I think Gwen's dimension was my favorite. The background changes color to depict the emotions of the character on screen. It was really powerful in moments between Gwen and her father, and I think it's meant to highlight Gwen as the most emotionally complex character in the movie, which is already somewhat obvious from her intro scenes with the band and her relationship with her father.
I love how Gwen’s arc through the movie works as a queer allegory. Hiding half of who you are, you feel like you can’t talk to the people that matter most in your life? Yeah, that’s something a lot of queer people have worked through, and seeing her dad accept her as Spider-Woman just brings it full circle for me. I don’t think it matters if it’s intentional on the part of the filmmakers, its just a beautiful story regardless
Someone also pointed out how the scene involving Gwen and her father are coloured with the trans flag (pink, white, blue). There is also a "protect trans kids" poster on Gwen's room (though it's quite a blurry detail and I only saw it because a website pointed it out).
@@devofficialchannel her dad also wears a trans flag patch on his coat, imo it makes perfect sense why so many see her as trans (myself included) but the reason I didn’t bring it up is just because I don’t want losers trying to fight me in the comments lol
@@Enndorii What's more exciting is that this time, they didn't censor out the "protect trans kids" poster or the trans flag pin on George's uniform. Like I was surprised to watch it in my cinema and see that those details were left uncut (I still live in a country where LGBTQ+ is still stigmatised and any reference to it is censored out or banned in films). Seeing the movie rated "all ages" and also have those details intact was relieving (though I never point it out to other people out of similar fears of assholes complaining).
This is a movie where we all look at the watch and say: "Why is the time running out? I want more. Time, stop moving so fast. Let me enjoy this longer."
I also like that a lot of time is put into the hero’s trying to save people. The MCU and a lot of the DCU forgets that what makes these hero‘a good, people to look up to is that they value the lives of others.
That response "Maybe you weren't hard enough on him" is a bizarre choice of an answer. Yeah Miguel choke slamming Miles from the heavens and calling him a mistake wasn't hard enough like wtf you mean?
Thoughts on the brief live action moments?

GREAT SARCASTIC CHORUS SPIDER-MAN ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE EXCELLENT 👌
I personally thought it was fine, pretty funny and cool, but it would’ve cooler if they were also animated with a realistic art style like Pixar imo
To me it helps show how many spider universes the are, including the live action trilogies and the mcu, its gonna bring the spider verse and the mcu together
The Spider-Verse franchise is proof that we are not tired of superhero movies, we are tired of bad superhero movies.

It's so cool that you realize why this guy is with pretty much a spider authority figure- he knew the ones who saw the problem would need his help
@@Nanobot1989we don’t really know their relationship nothing is implied or said
Miguel is either wrong or lying to Miles.
I mean bro kinda right if he isn’t meant to be Spider-Man he wouldn’t have a canon event leading to his dads death
That’s the kind of thing that they could still add. Incredibles 2 added it after they got complaints
It's interesting because there was a sign for little mermaid and Guardians 3 about seizure warnings, but nothing for Spider-Man.
There was one in my theatre- but yes the movie itself should definitely have one
I was wondering about that too, it’d be cool if they could edit together a version that’s more accessible for people with epilepsy, though idk how practical that’d be.
For me the very beginning of the film hurt my eyeballs but the rest was fine, I wish they could've edited the beginning part
I love how Miles' parents especially Rio get some deserved screen time in this film because she barely had any dialogue in the original

Not to mention it's frame for frame and dialogue is accurate too. The attention to detail in this film is stunning
And then the scene at the end when the "paint" literally start running as if her world is coming apart, so good.
Her scenes with her dad were fantastic. I also want to bring up that Hailee Steinfeld is a 10/10 voice actress. One of my favorite things about this movie is the fact that even when Miguel just outright insults Miles' existence, Miles doesn't give an F and keeps going. Sure, it kind of traumatizes him during his swing sequence but he just continues to stand up for himself rather than angsting on it for the third act.

11/10 movie
It was a very diverse movie, which I loved. It had spider-men from different countries.
Daniel Kuluuya also was great
Spider-Punk was my favorite character of the movie period. He’s just so cool 😎
fun fact:
Spider-punk is Hobie Brown in his universe.
Who is Hobie Brown in the main comic line? He's the Prowler.
That's the biggest issue with the current spiderman run, they won't let him be happy for shit.
I really wonder what kind of magic and message they’ll pull out for the third film.
Cause it’s gonna have to be a wild resolution, how to defeat the spot who is almost entirely spots (where back in old times Spider-Man just has to fight him enough until he ran out of spots)
And for Miguel I wonder how his character might redeem himself.
So true
I mean, really, NWH's moral is just that you need to call people and ask questions before you decide to mess with time.
Wish there were more films rated PG that actually utilise the rating than simply for the sake of avoiding a G rating.
in fact in the cinema I went to it was rated the argentine equivalent of PG-13 which surprised me quite a bit not gonna lie (maybe the swearing?)
I had no opinion on Spider-Man India before this movie, and now I need an entire film trilogy starring him complete with Bollywood musical numbers.

It’s also tackling the stigma of spider man himself as a character, challenging the idea of canon for spider men and showing miles who is breaking the mold and being a truly unique spider man

You're kinda right about that, He just did his own thing after he went god mode but that was to focus of things such as Miguel O'hara and the other Spider-People and it also helped with the plot twist and cliffhanger.
it does make sense as to why he disappeared all he cares about is ruining miles life and he saw a future were he did so why will he still chase miles?

YES YES YES I LOVE THE META COMMENTARY ON THE COMIC BOOK INDUSTRY IN THIS MOVIE!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who picked up on that!
The sheer silence in my theater when the last shot happened just echoed my disbelief in the direction they decided to take the movie

After Miles gets knocked out and we're in the apartment Aaron looks at him
This movie was simply awe-inspiring, it is literally my favorite movie ever. I loved every second of it!
Honestly I'm so happy about Hobie, he's the best punk representation I've seen in years; punk characters are usually just boiled down to angsty pretentious angry emos with a punk label slapped on them, but he was truly well done and a breath of fresh air
I always say that punk is about sometimes being a problem but always trying to be a help.
And Hobie personifies that perfectly.
SPOILER COMMENT IN RESPONSE TO SPOILER SECTION
Please skip over this if you don't want to be spoiled in anyway.
@EIite
it's Miguel's character being that way due to his own experiences that lend credit to Mama Morales line of "Be where they want you." I'm not justifying Miguel, but he is right.
@EIite
Then you're pointing out his way doing things is wrong, right?
Gwen loves miles so much the scenes with both of them are just great they really mesh well together and the writing for them is great
Everyone expected Hobie to be the side character to steal Gwen from Miles, but he's actually one of the fewer ones to clearly help miles

IT'S MOONLIGHT SONATA MOVEMENT 2
@@bookshop7337 i watched it 10 minutes ago. peter saved miles then left him to the side. miles just sat and watched but he wasn’t the one who got him killed. saving miles was barely an inconvenience for him
I wish we got more Animated Marvel/DC Movies could you imagine a Batman Beyond movie in this style?
That would be so fucking hype bro
The "Nah, Imma do my own thing" scene and quote go so hard
Spot's fight scenes are by far some of my favourite uses of portal powers that I've ever seen. He constantly moves both himself and his opponent with them to control the flow of the fight while attacking from all angles to catch them by surprise.
8:45 Wait, so Miguel essentially did something similar to Kingpin was trying to do (be with his family from another dimension)?
Everyone "A hero will sacrifice you to save the world"
Miles "Nah I'll save both!"
Miles is a true hero ❤️
I absolutely loved the therapist part of the movie 😂 Little nods like that are everything to me
I saw it in theatre and I didn’t even NOTICE how long it was until it cut off with that one reveal and all our jaws were ON THE FLOOR
I love it so much I'll drag my dad with me to go see it a second time
I think this is the first part of a Free Will Versus Predestination story. Miguel has made his choice in the fear of losing too much, even though if he had knowledge beforehand, he probably would have done anything to protect his nearest. Any of the Spider- heroes would. Maybe I'm wrong.
Imagine if Bully Maguire came across Miguel
(Small Spoiler regarding the ending, please read with caution!)
Me and a couple of friends were discussing about the movie, until one of them pointed out a potential clue from the first film that showed Miles potentially set for the Prowler’s path in his dimension.
I shouted out "Why a cliff hanger?"
Everyone in my theater just yelled AW COME ONNNN
@@insertunoroginalnamehere6189 I did I did
7:32 ain’t no way they stole my boys Jordans😭😭😭
I JUST NOTICED THAT LMFAO
Can we all just appreciate one thing real quick.
The spider is nothing of note in the first film. Obviously when you watch the movie, you know it will bite Mihles and make him spider man so you don’t question something like “where does it come from.”
Then in this film, they explain where it comes from, and it is retroactively supported, by the spider glitching throughout the first film.
@@WebbedManiac exactly what I tried to explain. You just did it WAY BETTER then I did.
What about Hobie? He seemed to be completely on Miles’ side
7:26 Saving this timestamp to show to convince people how funny this movie is
i also thought it was fascinating how the conflict kind of mirrors into the spiderverse's. miles and kingpin both were willing to risk anything to protect their families
Based on the rules the movie establishes, canon events are the opposites of anomalies and the lack of one results in the other.
So let's imagine Miguel's perfect timeline:
1. Miles is never bitten and blonde Peter survives
2. Without Miles Spider-Man, the Spot never comes to existence
3. Without the Spot, Officer/Captain Davis is never killed
3a. Mumbai Spider-Man never has his canon event with the death of the inspector either
This film is filled with so much Exaggerated Swagger of a Black teen when Miles jumps off the train.
Sat stunned in my seat during the entire thing. Everything about it was great.
This movie BLEW ME AWAY
Oh my goodness it was epic
Yes I loved it
I love how Gwen’s arc through the movie works as a queer allegory.
The Am I Dreaming ending scene was amazing. One of the best songs I've heard in awhile.
The music was WAY better in the second one and it’s not even close. So much better woven into the scenes
