Late reply but barely noticeable. 690POE vs infinite engagement. One is 0.5° of engagement one is infinite. You can’t really notice it when you engage the hubs . One uses a sprag clutch one uses a pawl drive mechanism
I like a quite bike. Helps me sneak up on wildlife and have some great encounters. I turn my handlebar bell on if I need to be heard. It’s nice to be stealthy when desired.
This is not true… in the early days the vesper had slippage issues but they’ve fixed that long ago. Now they’re trouble free, I’ve got 3-4 guys I know riding hard on theirs over 240lbs flawlessly. Make sure if you regurgitate online articles you make sure they’re up to date/current information first 😉
@@TimLikesBikes so last year I got some carbon wheels with vespers front and rear. I even got a custom color. The rear hub when in low gear climbing would slip and I could not climb. They were fine for lighter weight riders but would not hold me up and slipped. I still have my front one but had to got the rear changed to a Hydra and it did not cost anything. Several shops advised me that if over 180 pounds the vesper will slip but I have heard they will hold up heavier riders too. Yeah I am not sure man they did not work for me but great hubs. I love the front one.
@@trailpimp6369 that sucks. I’m on my 3rd set now myself and at 195-200lbs geared up they’ve been incredible. I know the original vespers had issues and they were making an aftermarket fix for them but from what I know now they’ve improved them. In fact, I’m a Nobl Wheels dealer snd every set I’ve sold with vespers this year was to a rider 190lb+. I love hydras and haven’t had any issues there either (had 11 sets) but a buddy just stripped out the drive ring on a 4 month old set and had to send his out
@@TimLikesBikesyeah I had the same thing happen to an industry 9 system hub as well as other issues with those wheels and the free-hub body. But one year of riding the Hydra rear and vesper front with spoke X SX 310 carbon wheels and no issues at all. I ride Northstar bike park every weekend and trail ride during the week. I also do a lot of shuttle DH riding where I live and no issues. I might do the onyx classic with my next set of wheels. I also think the industry 9 non system hub is more robust then the system hub with those aluminum spokes.🔥🤩
I hate those noisy things in bikes, motorcycles and cars. It's stupid and annoying. When I was a kid we used to put an empty and crushed plastic bottle in the rear wheel of a bike to make it sound like a motorcycle. Since then I think those sounds are for little kids. Mature men spending money on that are ridiculous.
Really. they are terrific for bike ways, don't need have a bell to let people know you are coming. The irony is that actually the silent one is technically dumb as it can't make noise.
Yup, in my opinion its one of the most immature and stupid trends in the biking community. It seems like something a 5 year old kid would think is cool.
Onyx sounds beautiful! Didn't hear here a thing!!
when a mtb rider goes expensive they have two hub paths, as loud as possible or as quiet as possible
Very true. I would definitely go quiet
Chris King buzz isn't that annoying actually..
I like it louder hub tells all the hikers to get out of the way
I want both lmaoooo
Never heard of Onyx, now I want it.
It can't be heard
When you ride a Trek like me, you like having a hydra to block out all the other random noises that come along a days worth of riding on my slash😂
Silence is Golden
Onyx ftw. Just the sound of tyres and gravel/leaves/mud fot me
One thing I noticed when you're riding a silent hub is how much you rely on hub noise to judge your speed
The Onyx Vesper hub’s engagement is sick period
I would prefer the hub that doesnt make an annoying sound.
Wow it's very smooth
I prefer the onyx
I know a lot of guys that ride onyx and they love it but i like when the bike is super loud
Big dug 🔇
Small dog 🔊🔊🔊🔊
😂😂
Onyx has a better engagement than the other hub.

Sprag feels mushy to me. But that’s just my opinion
Quite is good tbh
People can’t hear you coming
@@imnotallergicyep, a noisy hub does a better job of warning pedestrians than a bell or calling out
That would honestly drive me up the wall! Had something like that before back in the day was so embarrassing you couldn't stop pedalling
Onyx is what I have but if you listen closely you can hear the slightest clicking
Sounded hub is like having a voice if they hear you, they will respect you

I cannot ride a bike without the sound lol
my hyrdra came in two rides ago and it sounds like the onyx still
I like hun noise because for me it replaces my bike bell lol
I love my Vesper
Es mucho mejor silencioso......toda una vida....!!
Uhhh i like i9 for sound, but with wesper I can hear all trail sounds. So hard to choose, but I think I'd go vesper cus infinite engagement points
ماهو الفرق بينهما؟
I like loud hueb i9 idra amd quite hhb
I like loud hub
I9 is the best hub
Dude im boutta bust over the i9's sound
Sound checking a onix hubs again?
❤
Loud for commuter or road bike, quiet for mtb
I couldn't ride a bike that was that loud
Onyx ❤
That sounds amazing😍
Hikers prefer to hear you before you smash into them😄
Hydra ❤
The vesper and Hydra are both good but for DH riding and heavier riders the vesper will not hold you up and that clutch will slip.

I’ve heard onyx hubs have reliability and durability issues
Primero eran las motos, luego los autos y ahora esto 😅😂
Mosquitos molestosos 😅
I prefer the onyx bcoz im a ninja
I love a loud hub is that just me (im a road biker)
How much are torch and hydras lol
hydra is on top#1
