I just love the Westminster Chimes on these EOWS sirens, it sounds beautiful coming from an object that a child would cry after being scared about, and it has that vibrator-like sound that just beats the Modulators.

No these sirens are used for tornado warnings. This particular signal is a regular test signal. When there's an actual tornado warning, it runs a steady alert signal.
The EOWS 612 wasn't a rushed product. In fact it's the refined version of the 408 and 812. There's nothing wrong with the 612 siren head. The Achilles heel of them were the SiraTone controllers paired with them. It's not that they were bad, so much that parts like capacitors, diodes, and resistors used in them were cheap and tended to die out prematurely. The later model 612s that shipped with MCs, MCPs, and even UVs pretty much don't have any issues. Hell the 612 is even louder than any Modulator Federal ever produced.
