Nice review on the Ground Control to Major Tom's. Major sketch on the cornering with those. Enjoyed the viewer rides and props to the Wolftick pups who earned their bikes.
💯💯💯
Man love how you add some new things to your videos every time I watch. Like the instant tire install how it just appeared on there. And man, you literally were living on the edge of this trail this time lol. Wow, the tires had you at sonic speed. That definitely was my favorite thing about the tires. Smooth outro at the end of the ride lol. But very good content like always brother!
Anthony appreciate the love man, very cool comment. Thank You
Great real time and ride footage (as always), guys! Awesome viewer's rides! 😁✌️
Thanks buddy!
I LOVE that last pic that made me giggle so much and theres not much out here to giggle about but you guys defo put a bit of sunshine in my day, cheers guys great video yet again 4 more weeks until i get home to blighty and "Hopefully" finish that Voodoo Hoodoo ive been working on stay safe guys great show
Awesome to hear brother, really wish the pic was clearer!! LOL Thanks for always being here brother
The classic square taper crankset removal cracked me up!!! We all feel for ya David. I just picked up two specialized purgatory grid 29x2.6. Cant wait to try them out.
Glad to see some specialized tires do well. I have had great success with specialized tires specifically the butcher model tires. Keep up the great work guys been loving the tire reviews.
Thanks Tony, got a Butcher and an Elimintaor on our Patron Build!!
Nice seeing the Al comp out again!
I just rode mine on Thursday after months!
Thanks man, it is featured once again for Thursdays Vid 👍👍👍
Tires look fast AF boyee! Love viewers rides! Once a month please!
Great review! I just found your channel and this was super helpful. Ps did you wrestle?
Hi guys great review on the tires and the tick saying he is use to seeing something thicker in front of him lol 😂 nice bikes in the viewers rides 👍
🤣🤣🤣Glad someone caught that!! LOL Thanks Brother
A good day when I see a new video come out.
Well atleast you've got 2 good days a week! 😘😘🙏
darn it’s hard to really really tell with the go pro footage it seems like some gnarly terrain well irrgardless of what you ride or how you ride tubeless or not your getting out there and riding and your inspiring people to get out and ride as well and that’s all that truely matter keep putting out the good content and keep er rubber side Down🤘🤘🤘
🙏🙏🙏
Loved David’s photo. Hilarious! But yes, we’ve all been there.
🤣🤣🤣😵
Great review, shocked you got another puncture! There's something wrong with that trail😂
Loving the viewers rides, great to see so many UKers.
Take care guys 👍😎🍻
Def full of UKERS!! 😂😂🇬🇧an we gotta go through that trail for a patreon video!! Cheers Dan and hope your having a great weekend man.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS not bad so far but it's got a little cold over here now. And you have a good one too 🍻👍
Love the tire reviews. Always looking for the ideal tire with a balance of speed and grip. Currently running maxxis dhf 2.5 up front and maxxis rekon race 2.25 in the rear on my ledge X1. This combination works great for me.
🤘😎
Hell yeah man, that sounds great. Glad you are enjoying thee reviews. Got some more headed your way 💪💪
Viewers rides the best love it guys
Thanks man!
man i remember saving up for my first (new) bike, that late 80's haro FST that I still have. my bike before that was a mongoose, but built up from a frame. but i wish i still had that one too ! :D
Love seeing the progression of your editing skills in your videos. You guys have come a long way!
Also, curious about the flats you get on this trail. Are they pinch flats? Thorns? Overly sensitive tubes? 🤣
Waiting for you guys to jump on the tubeless bandwagon. There's plenty of room!
Thanks brother 🙏
Ok ok let’s see these specialized tires I assume. Let’s go wolftick nation🤘🤘
YES SIR!!! 👊
So funny (kind of) story. My son Ben is featured here with his RiftZone. This past weekend he had a NICA race in Barling. On Saturday he rode down with a friend to volunteer and do course set up for the race Sunday. When they left they got about 10 minutes down the road and realized a bike was missing. It was his. It came off the bike rack as they were leaving the race area. So his friends mom called the team coach who went searching. Another teams coach had found it and turned it in. Thankfully it was only cosmetic damage, the grips and seat. Everything else was perfectly fine and our coach owns a bike shop so they checked it over good. For those few minutes though when they thought it might have gotten flattened on the highway he was a nervous wreck. All is well and the bike lives to ride another day! 😂
Hey Heather, thanks for the MAILTIME!! It's a shame what happened to Ben's bike!! Glad he made the cut and hope the rest of the season he double checks the bike straps!!
I know you guys have tried and aren't big fans of tubeless but with the amount of flats that you get I think you should try again After I switched I never get flats any more. I could never go back to the way it was with flat tires once or twice a week. Also I am able to run lower pressures which makes the tire even more grippy.
If you have proper tape, sealant and run decent pressure, and make sure the valve is secure, then tubeless is not an issue. I use Gorilla tape, I tape one side then the other, I start at 2 spokes before valve hole and end 2 past it.
I use Tune One Shot sealant as it's the best deal and has does not make a mess, easy to wipe off and does not leave stairs on the floor. No latex in it.
Orange Endurance also works well but it makes balls and spidewebs or latex if left too long, leaves stains on the floor.
The thing is with tubeless when you get the flat you're screwed there's no Trailside fix so you end up walking your bike out of the trail with the tube setup yeah maybe you get pinch flats and a flat here and there but as long as you carry a fanny pack with an extra tube a crescent wrench and one of those emergency c02 tire inflators you can almost every time fix it on the trail and ride out
Besides mainly the only real benefit u get is like u said u can run lower air pressure for more grip and it's a little lighter
Same, I could barely make it a ride or two when I was riding tubes without getting a flat. It was terrible. Once going tubeless I’ve never had issues and traction and overall ride quality is far superior, I’ll never go back.
That makes sense for you and me. But I think they swap tires on bikes too often to justify the hassle of tubeless. I haven't had to change a tube in years lol. Tubeless ftw.
Another great video. What tires would be great for a 27.5 with a 2.4 max width for a full suspension bike
Thank you so much mate
You are very welcome
Sorry i was late to the comments been busy TRIMMING you made me laugh so much in the comments man excellent
GT stickers arrived, youtube shorts party on man
Yo! Your kids look so Rad dude! Looks like you have an awesome family.
😂😂😂TRIMMING 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️😁
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS trimming what? I hope you are not talking about Manscaping!
Yes mate lol we had fun filming today now up the castle paying pool in the pub gt is in the car cool
I would love to take credit for the Specialized tires, but I sent you Kendas LOL. Rock on guys. :)
Wes, I told him that atleast 10 times when we were planning on filming this episode, but he kept saying "I'm positive that those were the tires you sent" haha. I figured you wouldn't mind the shout out, and then I could tell him I told you so😉. The funniest part, is I believe I'm the one who "drunken Ebayed" those tires🤣. We do have to remember that The Tick has been hit in the head ALOT!🤪😆 Thanks buddy👍
Great tire review! I want you to go down that trail with a tubeless set up and see what happens! Have the Wolfman bring a metal detector and scan that area! LOL
Great video as well.... "not used to seeing something that skinny..." LMAO
🤣🤣 I had to say it!! Man you would love that trail. Is it an amazingly designed DH
Love the tire for xc riding on the front when light trails are on the list, with a fast trap on the rear.
What a great name for those tires……ground control to major mullet 🎶🎶🎤🎤😆😆
Hahaha We need to put them on the mullet. Thanks guys.
I love going tubeless, but before I switched I would always use and highly recommend the Slime Tubes, they are worth the extra money. I bet this tire would run better set up tubeless Because you can lower the tire pressure and the tire will dig in better. Great video
I’ve never had any luck with slime tubes I’m like 0 for 5. But I’ve had lots of success with FlatOut in tubes. Every time i change a tire the flat out sealed multiple punctures i had no idea about
Thanks Hoseph, appreciate the comment man 👍
I love this channel no joke of you ever want to have some fun on the trails you should come to Hingham Massachusetts
Oooh!! That sounds interesting, if gas ever goes down we may just do a Wolftick Roadtrip!!

WE NEED TO TRY!! LOL
Axum is on sale at walmart right now, non dp lg is $228!!!
Dude!! Thanks, that's a great thing for the bigger riders🙏🙏🙏 Saw the email to 😵😵
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Yeah for sure man, picked another one up going to convert it to a ebike. How does one summit to viewers rides, is that for patreons only?
Ben, Ben, Noah awesome bikes thanks for sharing with the #wolfticknation 💪🏾🔥💯 . Tick,Wolfdad you guys hit me in the feels when you guys brought out the Comp berserker 💯💪🏾 The Al comp was my gate way bike to MTB the first bike I learned, worked on and upgraded with the help of your videos and The Captains Cog 🤙🏾... Tick I think it's time for you to try tubeless I know I know hear me out... You reached a new shredding level... And you going hard on a hardtail which is dope🔥💯 Or try adding more psi in the rear which I've learned sacrifice grip at least for me.... Great review you was sending it on the trail 💪🏾🚀 just one question do the fires come in a wider size 2.2 -2.4? As always #wolfticknation looking forward to the next one ❤️💪🏾💯
New Shredding = Tubeless Shredding🤣🤣
Theres a couple tires I reccomend for light offroad mainly street, I've used them all on motorized bikes and they work great
1. The Schwinn Cruiser Kevlar reinforced Tire (good balance of tread wear, puncture resistance and grip)
2. Vee rubber (basically drag slick)
3. Maxxis hookworms (slick tire with a lot more grip)
Being from fl, I ride dirt roads and the street, we have a few banger jumps out on the dirt roads they get washed out and create little jumps, sadly atm my huffy scout I bottom out on smalls, I'm slowly upgrading it so that I can actually ride it
Man we hear all the Kevlar stuff is the way to go. Not a bad lineup
I agree about not liking crowded stores! I would think for what/where you ride, 2.1 would be a bit narrow (most XC tire than DH). I run 2.1 gravel tires on my hardtail for pavement/gravel riding. It's the air pressure which allows you to feel all the rocks/bumps.
I got you, just feels like I am lagging while pedaling with really low pressure. That feels like a lot of roll when I turn....
You should have Rascal Flats sponsor your channel with all the flats you get! You could play one of his songs during a post ride ceremony in the bicycle tire hall of shame. There could be another segment of the show where the diagnosis biopsy of how the flat occurred whether puncture, pinch, bite from trail dog?? Etc...
Could generate some more viewers from the country music crowd. Haha!
😂😂😂Well it's Flatts so no go sadly...But maybe an indorsment by Trace Adkins a little bit of Honky Tonk Badankadonk??😂😂😂
Wow looks to me like this may be your best bet with those tires, they look like a pretty good rear tire only for fast rolling and maybe put a more aggressive like 2.3, 2.4 tire up front for better grip and you may have a great combo!! got the D5 and tested it and it's nice!! O you need WTB Vigilantes!
🤣🤣🤣Man that's a good idea. For the swap, but we CANNOT do WTBS!! LOL 👊
This is why I still run tubes I see too many people getting flats or burping their tubeless tires and I still run tubes and have no issues. I also make sure to run enough air so I don't get pinch flats but I've never had an issue with punctures in the tire. It all comes down to personal preference but it's a lot easier to carry a tube than screw around with a tubeless when it comes down to it
Hahahaha! David Burris does has the same grinder as me! Love hot and heavy grinder action.
He's Just Like The Captain
Everyone needs a Captain in them! Hahahaha
😅⚓👍
Please review the 27.5 2.6 inch specialized slaughter GRID tires!!! They are 14 dollars and I would love to see how they do. You haft to get them straight from the specialized website though
Back in my mountain biking days, Ground Control were my very favourite tyres. Fast-running, better on consistent surfaces, to be sure.
Kind of off topic but what length stems do you guys run? Have you tried really short stems around 35mm
Damn! Overwhelming? Get out with people more. To this NYC boy that was open space. Full disclosure: that's what got me into bikes, seeking open spaces.
"Tired of flats". Love that. I'd think the flat left you tireless.
Do you inflate the tires towards the low or high end? I know the trend is to go low, for traction, but I've found that I got less flats inflating to high pressure.
Nice to see the Comp out again. Wasn't sure at first if it was a flashback.
Sorry that it's so much work but user rides are awesome.
Man i always put a good 35psi, hopefully you seen our top 5 resona we don't go tubeless vid
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Yep, that's high on a tubeless tire. Not high with a tube though.
I did see that vid. Even thanked you for speaking the gospel & saving me the trouble of experimenting.
I know you hate it, but you need to go tubeless and run tire inserts. It's made for trails like that. Especially run an insert in the rear if you don't run both. Or at the very least, run Tannus Tube protection and pump your tubes with slime sealant.
We can do whatever on some bikes but The Tick likes to have choices when we test tires. We have a tire insert that Berserker Nick sent us a while back, but I can't remember if its for tubeless or tubed. We have two and about to be three bikes tubeless as of now, but that eliminates using them for tire tests/reviews. Personally, I think it's a great indicator as to the flat resistances of the tires we test. Some tires do fine and others...well you know😆
it seem,s like a really really good fast rolling rear tire. perhaps for the mull truvail you should put these for the 27.5 in the rear or go for the 2.3 29er versions for the front. for 20usd (tube) its a good deal
Man are you getting punctured tires or just popped tubes. Is it the tires fault or just a thin tube your using
The holes are directly on the center of the tubes and there are little puncture marks...
Hey Tick, story time, I think you'll find this hilarious. So last week i decided to wash my GT Aggressor Pro for the first time. After washing it I was getting a really loud creaking noise coming from what i thought was the bottom bracket. I removed the bottom bracket cleaned and regreased it and it was still creaking. So I made sure my chainring bolts were tight and pedals tight (they were) and still it creaked, so i took apart my FaceFace Chester pedals and cleaned and greased those, and it was still making the creaking noise. So next I took both wheels off, took apart the hubs, lost 3 ball baerings but thankfully Wheel and Sprocket gave me some free ones, then i cleaned and regreased my hubs and it was still making the creaking noise. I was getting pissed off and worried becuase my bike was always completely silent when riding it, so I posted to reddit r/bikewrench. The first reply to my post was a guy saying it's 100% my seat post creaking. I replied to him that that couldn't be it becuase I had never greased my seat post and it never creaked, but I would play along, so I greased my seated post AND the creaking stopped, lol. I was pissed but also found it hilarious. I had basically given my bike a full overhaul and it turned out to be the simplest fix.
Hahah did the same thing before
This story is going to make me grease my seatpost now!
Nothing slides quite like a greasy seat post. LOL. I had the same issue before. Couldn't believe it either.
🤣🤣🤣🤣Great story!! That's great you basically did an overhaul then found the problem 🤣🤣😁😁 I had a similar one, I was rising the al comp back in the day right after we installed a fork. I heard a ticking and for the longest time I could not figure it out. Maybe a cable or the chain but every thing was a NOPE. So I had no time to pull it apart and about a year later we take the fork off and......The damn star nut was a cheap one and was doing all the rattling!! 🤣🤣🤣
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS hahaha that's great and might actually help me because I took my bike out yesterday for a 25 mile ride on roads and trails and on my way home i was noticing a ticking noise around my fork so I'll have to check that star nut, I was also thinking maybe it's just the cables hitting each other but I don't think that was it. I'll see if it still makes the noise on my ride to work today.
5:44 kind of related to Sam Pilgrim.
My Ride Concept Hellcat Sam Pilgrim shoes are difficult to install on my feet. Super tight, as the tongue does not open enough 😜 but the shoes are stiffer, more supportive than Five Ten Freerider, but not as breathable.
🤣🤣👍
Lezyne Cuisine 🤤🤤 always makes me hungry for some TV dinners
🤣🤣🤣🥰🥰🥰🥰
what psi do you guys run with your tube?
As many flats as you have you would absolutely benefit from a proper tubeless setup. I run Rocky, nasty stuff on my full rigid bike setup tubeless and never get flats…ever. The rim width makes a difference for tubeless to work correctly but the same goes for tubes. If you are running too fat of a tire with a narrow rim you will always flat. I’m guessing pinch flats is what keeps happening if you take a slightly bad line and hit a rock with the rear tire. When I used to run tubes, if I over tightened the presta nut on the stem, it would pull the stem out of the tube or split right by it. I started leaving the little nut off and that helped big time.
Gotcha brother, the Patreon build we have is TUBELESS and we love it. It feels so right 👍 NO flats yet lol, just rode Lizard Trail 😅
Hey tick you need to add 41 to 42 PSI in the rear tire and leave your front the same that's why you're getting Flats a lot with the narrow and smaller tires
Hey,I'm Natasha, I go out trimming and making videos with Dan Webb,we from the UK...massive shout out
I feature in Dan Webb utube channel
Hey Natasha, glad your there to keep Dan in line 😂 Thanks for the comment.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS cheers for shout out,not sure and your welcome 👍
Just to throw in another recommendation, try some Tannus Tube Armor with a narrow lightweight tubes. Prefer that over tubeless, no sealant to dry out or replace and can run lower pressure than tubes alone
Oh we got the cushcore from BERSERKER !! Maybe that??
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Cushcore should be a tubeless insert, Tannus has one for tubes as well
going back to skinnier tires is pretty hard to do once you get used to a something like a 2.8 or 2.6. i bought the fast trak grid in 27.5 x 2.8 and built some wheels with duroc 40 rims tubless and i don't really want to ever have to downsize.
I feel ya man, a 2.6 is like my go to. I really prefer to run that width.
Got these same tires, they took alittle extra effort to get on and seated. From my experience the thinner the tire the harder to get them on. Try running tubeless, might be getting pinch flat on your rear tube. Especially on the jumps
Thanks for the input, hopefully you seen the Top 5 reasons we don't go tubeless vid👍
Back in the 90's, MTB tires were generally sub-2 inch. I went through years of hypnotherapy to forget ever riding endless solo miles across the Mojave Desert on those narrow tires. This video had me drenched in sweat, screaming at 2:35am, having woken from a nightmare where these narrow tires failed me. I was snatched up by a UFO and anally probed for hours in what may be more than a bad dream. I'm thinking that this was from a repressed memory brought back by just the mere mention of 2.1-inch tires.
Well sorry to have mentioned it, hopefully we can just do 2.4 and up!!🤣🤣 Now I think in my memory from aa week ago serves me correctly....anally has one L???
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Three things I remember from 1957. My teacher was movie star hot; she drove a pink 1957 T-Bird and I was the only one in her class to get 100% on the weekly spelling tests. I have spell check, anally has two l's.
I was thinking, Miss Johansson has to be in her 90's. Oh Shit! I'll be 77 next Saturday.

35psi???? That’s high! What size rim? I just ordered 2.35 T7 front and backs for epic hard tail. I’m thinking of running 22psi front 24 rear???
0:12 Texas, where?
Try those corners using a bit more rear brake
👍 I will see what I can do
7:25 hahahahahahajaja, then the laugh, jajaja, good one
Oh man... I've def. been there... lol
Imagine if it was the same rock that made the tire go flat, that rock is now 2 for 2 haha (I also might be adding my bike to viewers rides soon, I have a few more things to do to it first)

Hell yeah man!🙏🙏🙏
I have these exact tires on 3 different back. 3 as rear tires 1 as front. All setup tubeless, no problems with them at all. Great for lighter riders. I sort of smash them. Just not enough tire for a big ol boy like my self.
👍👍👍
Flats like that is the kind of thing that just doesn't happen if you run tubeless. Also running tubeless you could run them a little lower pressure and they would probably grip better. Frequent flats is why I went tubeless.
Can you do some 29x2.4,2.5,2.6?
I believe we got some, let's see what we can come up with brother 👍
Could they also be wire bead or mixed? I hear wire bead is much cheaper. Thank you so much for the quick response. Love your vids.
You need to try some enduro tyres.
👍👍👍
Have you considered lowering the PSI by 3-5? You may have better traction
Not really, we always run 35 so we have a good across the board review.
Not really, we always run 35 so we have a good across the board review.
Is it a possibility that you have too much air in the front and not enough in the rear? Lets get to the bottom of this!!!
Man the pressure is the same, you know I think it's time for a Patron video searching the area and getting to the bottom of this fiasco!!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS same pressure? You should have a bit more pressure in the rear than the front, especially on a hardtail. Full sus you can get away with less air in the back. Yeah dude walk that trail and take a hammer or small sledge and break whatever hard rock is in that spot on the trail.
The more you ignore the old intro the more flat tires you will have 😂😂😁😁
Good morning 4th
Correct 🤣👍
Are you missing a rim strip or something?
Nope. It's over the coarse of several different rims and tires. I think it's just a spot on the trail. Whatever it is, it makes for an excellent addition to our tire tests. Thanks man
It's gotta be the trail why you are getting the flats
I enjoy how Wolfman is always questioning Tick’s vocabulary.
I'm glad someone enjoys it!! 😉
Flat again? I wonder that if some of these wheels had shitty rim tape (a plastic burr) or a rim with a burr at the weld seam or burred spoke nipple holes that keeps biting your tubes?? I run 29x2.3 Specialized Butcher/Purgatory tires at like 20 psi tubeless. No problems. hmmm, something else is at play other than the tires, I suspect.
okay though....that might explain your flats. running 35psi is super high. Even with tubes you could run at about 25psi and get more grip and fewer flats. 35psi is better for roads but at your size you are putting so little rubber on the trail you may even be losing speed because you cant corner as fast. You may also get fewer flats...a balloon is harder to pop while its still pliable. When I'd ride in wyoming at lower pressures i could ride over cacti at lower psi's but as soon as i got over 30 psi the tires turned into needle magnets.
Nice, I completely feel ya. Thanks man
I couldn't tell you the full name of my tires but they are specialized and it's a racing setup I run a 26 I got 2.3 wide tubeless and I ride on 24 PSI I'm 5 6 and 185 lb I get super grip I hit jump lines Rock gardens I have never had a flat on my bike yet on my other bike same setup and tires and wheels but it was tubes I ran 28 on that don't know maybe I'll be a better air pressure for you
28 may be worth playing with. Thanks for the comment brother. Cool you run a 26er 👍

🤣🤣🤣
I had those Ground Controls and sold them after one ride. Too much side roll for me. I felt like they were going ti pop off the wheel. Not a great tire IMO
🤣🤣🤣 I feel ya Brother
with your riding style, you need to stay away from those light tires man. go for a downhill casing, go tubeless with a trail casing, or use an innertube protector like a Tannus Armour insert.
that way you won't have all of these flats ever or not nearly as often (depending on the chosen solution)
💪💪💯Thanks brother
Ditch the tube and lower the pressure already. I got a 1000 miles on my tubeless set up riding socal rocky thorny trails not a single flat.
Eff all that 😅 too many people for me!
Us too.
Hi guys I always run a wider more aggressive tyre on the front and a faster rolling tyre on the rear. I have assegai up front and aggressor on back. Gee you guys get some punctures I went tubeless years ago and never looked back and I ride way rockier trails than you guys. 2 punctures in 4 years and only because I tore the tyre.
I miss the Specialized Umma Gumma.
Never heard??
you should use tubolito tubes and eliminate this issue.
Now that's a great idea! Be sure to tune into Sundays Episode
Tubeless Time. Oh and I hate a flat rear.
🤣🤣🤣 I hate flat rears too!!
The reason you keep getting flats is to entertain us, or am I the only one who laughs everytime when the Tick gets yet ANOTHER flat tire?..If it weren't for bad luck you'd not have any at all!
