For people who say Leary shouldn't get the W, the aggression he showed with his guard secures his victory no problem. Lepri got no answer to pass that DLR but neutralized it well. I felt my back was taken 3000 times just by watching Leary rollling.
Part of the problem is ibjjf rewards the pass attempts as a benefit for the top player. Usually the person on top who forces their opponent to play open guard wins. IBJJF doesn't really have an answer for matches that are tied. IMO, if a black belt finals match is tied after 10, then they should go another 5 and another 5 until there is a winner. IF its a 40 minute match then so be it. I am also a little biased becuase I am a Lepri student lmao.
@@Darko1.0 The use of the lockdown to flare the leg out that way makes it an electric chair sweep. I'm sure it existed before it was called the electric chair. But that's the name that I know for it.
Congrats to Levi he fought and amazing match. In my opinion this win solidified him as a top tier competitor. I have to admit I was rooting for Lucas though. He had such a great tournament it’s a shame he feel short of both finals on the second day.

Lucas hadn’t lost in years ( in gi match at his weight class) or hadn’t even had points scored on him like in half a decade .. Levi did edge him out but it’s a shame he lost this way.. another matter its also easier to look offensive from guard , passing scores more then sweeps for a reason .. I agree Levi won though
@@nathanmcmullen1527 Levi didn't realize that he could get dq'd because he ignored totally 2 penalty warnings. When they got double disqualified levi burst out into tears and laid on the mat for a long while. Levi is awesome at bjj though!!!

Maybe only Keenan was this good right away . I wonder if he had worked worm guard a little more earlier on if he could he swept Lucas there
