I always have disconnect issues when using my iphone 6s as well and its even plugged into the skycontroller 2 with airplane mode on. Must be an iphone thing. Almost never have that problem with my lg
Help. I tried this and I'm only getting max of 100m before getting disconnected. Then the wifi repeater won't auto reconnect to the bebop after it gets disconnected.? How do I solve this problem?
Is a netgear wireless-N duel band , the same thing as what you are useing? Or can I use that to boost my WiFi? It’s what I use to stick in my laptop to get better signal.
Sensei Dekkers depends. this extender shoots an average of 300 Mbps so if the sky controller beats that, you shouldn't bother using an extender like this
Hey mad great video and I plan on getting one because I am selling my bebop to a good friend and the drone is a great drone but the problem I had was also the fact that mine could go less than 20 meters away before it disconnected and one time it did return to home and the gps was messed up because it almost flew into the pond but that scared me I also don't think it is worth it for the controller
Hello Max's, I was wondering would that wifi extender work on a Bebop Skycontroller 2 by plugging it in the side of Skycontroller? Also thanks for your input to the hobby.
Hey! Since I don't have a Skycontroller - I can't say if it would work. But my IT-Knowledge says, that if you want to extend the range of the skycontroller you need a much bigger antenna. This hack is only for people like me, who can't afford a skycontroller ;)
Hey, Malex nice video. Thank for posting it. I have a question. Is there much, if any, difference between the wifi extender (like this one you have) and the Huawei E8372 wifi / Mobile network usb adopter types? I'm using the Huawei as a HOT-SPOT I suppose and connect my drone and my laptop to it and. I'm using QGroundStation (QGS) and just want a clear crisp video out to about 2km if possible. Sorry, I haven't tested the range of the Huawei yet. All i know is that I can connect both get an image and telemetry from the drone to the QGS. Makes me happy but I want the range. Wondering what you, or anyone, thought. Seeya! Oh, and thanks for posting in english for us english speakers too.
Hey! As far as I know, the DJI Phantom 3 has a better range than the Bebop2 out of the box. Hooking up 2 of those does not really make sense - the range wouldn't be increased.
Malex Serious hey I am going to get this but please remake this with these but it's only $10 and if you check out the company they have 130 different antennas but you still have to get the ones that are 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz so I'm not sure exactly which ones because it sort of get confusing going through so many that look exactly the same!!! Here's the link you just got to unscrew the little black things on the bottom and to make it easier unscrew the Motors so you can pull the body up but if you have the screw set I think you can just remove the screw but I didn't want to buy that so I just removed the whole thing and unclipped the old and clipped in the new... They are great and you can turn and angle them but the major downfall is that there is no place to Mount them so you have to find a way to do it with tape or zip ties but here's the link www.amazon.com/dp/B00QSGT86C/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_qmtszb1096NA9 And please make a video with the booster and the new antennas and show me your setup I broke one already so be careful but it's okay because they are cheap... Also on their website you can get a pack of 6 antennas if you are that worried just make sure they are the right channel (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz)
Hi I have just come back to Drone Flying I have a Bebot 2 I found this very interesting and a nice attitude video and what I was looking for thanks 4 sharing it Troy
Hi, Great video, I think the sky controller is way overpriced, so I'm looking to do this but just one question, what was the latency like, was it noticeable?
Nice video man, thanks for sharing. I just bought the same wifi extender. So have you tested out the maximum distance of it yet? I was able to get my Xiaomi Wifi extender with Iphone 6 Plus about 430 Meters away before the signal finally cut out and the Bebop 2 initiated the return to home function. I'm hopeful this wifi extender will be even stronger, so I'll be testing it out this week!
I just saw some reviews. My opinion: Better video quality than parrot but very unstable. Photos are way better than with a parrot. Might become a very interessting drone for german people, because they're planning to change the laws here, so you have to meet some conditions with drones over 250gramm.
The only reason to do this "hack" would be that the WiFi output on the extender is much greater than that of the WiFi on a standard AC/N phone. I doubt you'd get much better range actually for 2 reasons. 1) The BeBop WiFi is limited distance (on purpose) 2) If you got increased range, you'd be out of line of site and possibly in the range of choppy video signal (if you took it far enough).
Malex Serious I still don't see a need to hack this for mine. I might try it as I have the stuff already to do it and see if I like the results myself. Personally, I am happy walking slightly closer to my drone when the video feed gets choppy, and I like to keep mine within my field of sight (even if it is just but a flying dot) due to risk of loosing it. I have not tried automatic Flight Plan yet so I cannot comment on that. I forgot to mention item 3 of limited battery if you go too far and cannot get home. I saw a video where a user took his too far from his line of sight and the drone initiated auto landing upon battery warning into and got stuck in a tree (he never saw that coming). Also, you probably did not test this far enough to get choppy video. That being said, GOOD EFFORT and I LIKE CREATIVITY.
+Matthew Bauer Apparently you missed the point that this mod attaches the extender to the DRONE, not the phone, and it's the DRONE that creates the wifi signal, not the phone. So you are increasing the power of the bebop's transmitter (well, repeating it with a much more powerful one). You yourself noted how the bebop's power is intentionally crippled (we all know it's for legal reasons), but this repeater isn't crippled and voila - it works. Also the proof is in the video... hard not to believe what you see with your own eyes and what all (but one) person here agree with from their use of this mod.
Nice video i bought the same extender , I don't really fly that far but the other day i figured WTH. So i flew 450 meters . not bad for a flypad and the extender :)
Tank 62 hey I have found a solution it's not like it will go a mile but I got these and it can go about 450 feet away and 300 feet in the sky and it would literally not go over 20 feet before but to be honest your going to have to rig it up and be careful if your using zip ties not to bend the cable because I broke one but it's only $10 on Amazon here's the link! www.amazon.com/dp/B00QSGT86C/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_qmtszb1096NA9
No a wifi repeater is absolutely not the same thing/function as a wifi extender. A repeater is what you would say, travel out to about the distance where you would lose the wifi signal and plug it in leaving it in that location while you then travel back to where you started. Then you can fly out to the repeater and double the distance basically. A extender does the same job but you don't have to walk or drive to where the signal would be ended and leave it, no you just power up and use it right there where you are at. Hopefully everyone understands that major difference.
thumbs up for the video and i defenetly getting the wifi booster for my drone, thanks for this video, you got your self a subscriber, also check my channel and if you like it subscribe back ....keep up the good work, looking fwd to see more of your videos
Just bought a bebop and I am liking all the mods I have found so far. This is a nice easy one to start. Thank you for posting. 😊
Thanks! This was a nice Q&E how-to. (Your English was excellent btw.)
Very nice improvement and there’s nothing wrong with your English either 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏😎
I always have disconnect issues when using my iphone 6s as well and its even plugged into the skycontroller 2 with airplane mode on. Must be an iphone thing. Almost never have that problem with my lg
Your english is flawless, very enjoyable video and informative thanks!
I have one but range is limited with phone so I may use your method of WiFi repeater, but I would need a 5.8ghz version
sorry i have a bebop 1 and wifi+ and when i dot the scan for the networks don't recognize the bebop and don't know what to do
Did you know how much distance you can reach with the Wifi Extender and if the XIAOMI MI is better or not than this wifi extender that you tried.
And.... YEAH
usb wifi . cn does not exsist I have tried it
Ok you’re flying with no other wifi interference, what about in an urban area
Help. I tried this and I'm only getting max of 100m before getting disconnected. Then the wifi repeater won't auto reconnect to the bebop after it gets disconnected.? How do I solve this problem?
Try putting your device in flight mode before connecting via wifi to your drone
Is a netgear wireless-N duel band , the same thing as what you are useing? Or can I use that to boost my WiFi?
It’s what I use to stick in my laptop to get better signal.
If you owned the sky controller and had it connect to the booster, would it boost the range with the sky controller even more?
Sensei Dekkers depends. this extender shoots an average of 300 Mbps so if the sky controller beats that, you shouldn't bother using an extender like this

What sort of power output is this gadget? Do you know? And is this worth using with a Skycontroller? Interesting video though :)

thats it works too to different drone?
like a aosenma drone?
Thumbs up from Scotland. Well done sir. Whats max distance tou have flown so far?
Thanks! You can see it in one of my other videos. I think i went 400m in distance @ ca. 50m height.
hey what range did you get with this?
I have 2 questions will this work with a Dji phantom3 and is it possible to hook up 2 of these boosters together? Thanks
Hey! As far as I know, the DJI Phantom 3 has a better range than the Bebop2 out of the box. Hooking up 2 of those does not really make sense - the range wouldn't be increased.
Thank you saves time and possible frustration

I have the skycontroller can i add wifi extender range???
please help??
its not worth it
Thank you my friend for the info I'm going to try it out
Hi I have just come back to Drone Flying I have a Bebot 2 I found this very interesting and a nice attitude video and what I was looking for thanks 4 sharing it Troy
nice review Q: can i use this extender to my dji osmo??
Hi, Great video, I think the sky controller is way overpriced, so I'm looking to do this but just one question, what was the latency like, was it noticeable?
No! I was fascinated by that - but I didn't notice any latency.
ummm i need a password to connect the the wifi extender
Ya mon
Nice job
Will this also work with the Parrot Bebop 1st gen?
Thanks in advance!
Yep!

What do you think on yuneec breeze?

Matthew Bauer somerhing tells me that you did not watch till the end... + watch my last video and be statisfied!

Nice video and instructions !!! Thank you
Nice video i bought the same extender , I don't really fly that far but the other day i figured WTH. So i flew 450 meters . not bad for a flypad and the extender :)
yeah easy to set up comes with instructions. once you do it the first time it automatically connects after that.
Yeah!!
Why do you sound like Arnold Schwarzenegger? I'll be-BOP!!!
great video good english, i miss Germany
and Yah!
Yeah Baby!!
yeah um yeah
To tell you the truth you are not missing anything. The Skycontroller is not all it cranks up to be. The range stills suck!
Tank 62 yup... not impress :( with the sky controller
I got 1400m with my Skycontroller 2 at a beach before I started to lose connection and get choppy video
You must turn off the wifi of your device (phone/tablet) and let the signal work thru the Sky Controller or wifi amplifying device.
i got 2 km easy with my bebop 2 and skycontroller :)
Nice video and yeah, keep it up and yeah, I was wondering if this would work with yeah the sky controller and yeah the sky controller 2.
Cheap xiaomi thingie will do the same.
