I own this model, but the 2015/16 version. Some of the things I up graded (electronic thermostat) this one has so they are improving. CulleyT pointed out some of the problems, same that I found but I don't seem to have humidity issues but then I mainly spend most of my time boondocking in the Rocky Mountains and Utah deserts. I spend 4-5 months full timing each summer and fall. I have taken this rig on the Mormon Trail through sand, slick rock and over rock passes. I have taken it up mining roads to over 12,600 ft into some places that I probably shouldn't have gone. I have had zero issues with this rig and have twisted and bumped it very hard at times. I carry this on my SRW Ford F350 with no problem. The only thing I added for suspension is torklift stable loads and it handles great at 75 mph on the highway or in 4 low crawling over ruts and small boulders. I run two 6 volt T-105's and the solar panel keeps them charged. On those few days where the weather was bad I have a small honda 2000 and three hrs on that recharges them. Great camper for boondocking or in a campground I can't say enough good about how well built it is. Oh...last thing, if you do have a problem you can call the company direct and they will actually answer the phone and put you on the line with the guy who built it...super nice people and a good company.
Flying Dutchman hay, how much does it weigh. Think my Sierra 2500 hd is too small☹️
@@truthseekerhill4262 Mine came in at 3240. I know that the 9-6 se is exactly the same, just a bit shorter. It comes in at 2625 and would work easy on your 2500.
Can't wait to see a walk thru vid of the new 2021 10-2 with that new dry bath and electric side awning.
I like how she sits in it and is interacting with the space. It give one a good idea of it's size.
Excellent presentation. Actually I don't think I've ever seen a more thorough walk through.
That sleeping loft area looks super-cozy and comfortable. Imagine curling up there with a cup of tea (or a Scotch) and a good book at the end of the day. Looks like this RV has really good head room, especially for a truck camper.
If PJ is showing RVs,,, then I AM THERE.
It has it's own bathroom with a shower. That alone makes it good for me!
Showers are overrated lol.
@@nedaCFilms Says no woman....ever.
I love the solid wood cabinetry and seamless bathroom will eliminate the possibility of leaks. Very nice camper.
It’s not seamless,it’s 2 piece with a main seam in the middle and trim like the main body.
Another great and unique feature of this company's truck campers is that the dinette table can be moved from left to right to accomodate big people on one side and slim on the other.
The woman who presents the RV. Is amazing! She's very good at what she does! Keep her around! She's very thorough..She doesn't miss a thing
Thank you! We appreciate the super nice comments!
This is how a presentation should be
ABSOLUTELY the best walk through video I've ever seen. Thank you, P.J.; you are truly a Princess.
Thank you PJ I really enjoy your walk-throughs, you are one of the best in the business is showing off RV products
That is one of the nicest truck campers I have ever seen. It's packaged extremely well! I liked especially the raised floor not just to have less of a leap into bed, but that storage under the camper! Cool. Thanks PJ
That’s the best presentation I’ve heard in a long time
Don't give too many negative or they will delete your comment, like mine! You spend 50k on a camper and are not even allowed to post an honest review.
@@vividhaiku you sure whine a lot, did they refuse your credit app?
We had a PC PU camper in 1977 on a 1976 Ford F-150. Moved on from there. PC is a great company.
Best presentation of this model to date.
I plan on buying this one next year.
Very good presentation. My brother just bought this camper and I wanted to see what it is all about. Good work
This was a very good presentation video. The lady did an excellent job. I do have one suggestion, plugs at the table would be very nice for any electronics, laptop, phone chargers, even a coffee pot.
Up in Canada so too far to make a purchase but have always loved PJ's video demos...she always so thorough and patiently goes through all the details and features of the RV product for the viewers...thanks PJ! :)
Thanks so much!
Best reviews in the biz! Great storage on this unit.
I like that the mirror is easy to use. Great point.
If I were to do it again, I would so buy this model. Currently a Roadtrek owner. Can't believe the room. Luv that you can easily un-hook your truck.
Aside from actual square footage, this thing has got everything my actual brick and mortar house has.
Excellent presentation
Very well done video tour, thanks!
I love that the dinette is at the front with the kitchen. If I am ever able to have one, I would prefer to have the dinette be more of a sofa.
At 47K that thing should load itself and cook your meals!
I bought a used 2013, three years ago, for $27K, Special Edition 10.2 wet bath and it was in need a few minor things. Able to use it but still working some bugs out, not Northern Lites fault, genny won't start, struts for awning need replaced, the jacks all need r&r, so I have some work cut out for me. Still built like yachts inside.
Too rich for me
Quality is an an illusive little devil and not always easily seen - that's what you are paying for. Just compare to the Indiana built RVs
@Slay The Dragon Blog Please focus on your gramma.
I think you are paying for quality and a higher resale value.....having said that, I think the manufacturers are charging an excess for "cachet".....I'd like to see another manufacturer copy the standards, and the design, but cut costs where they could without affecting quality. Like formica or wood veneer drawer fronts over beechwood plywood instead of real wood(no mdf!).....might be a little weight saving there too.....As a single person....I dont need a queen bed either....a twin would suit me just fine......:)
I'm still just window shopping, and have already been interested in the Northern Lite products, but having seen more than a few walk throughs... Mrs. PJ You and the crew have done an excellent presentation! Reckon I'll be dismissing the competitors and focusing upon Northern Lite. I apprecitate the the way You speak, like hearing a trusted neighbor speak of something they have been glad to have invested in. Mrs. PJ, with all due respect, You appear to be an elegant and well centered lady. Were I a betting man I'd be betting You know, trust and love the Savior, Jesus Christ. Bless You.
I always love pj's reviews
You don’t show step up for the bed on this model, older people need that
PJ This is the best presentation that I have ever seen on a camper. Very Well Done.
That is a very nice camper!
Love it!
Super presentation, hope you carry lots of these units, they are easily the best built RV in North America. I'm on my second one, made the mistake to trade my first 8'11 for a toy hauler ( typical Indiana garbage) had nothing short of nightmares with it. Purchased a new NL again 2016. It's awesome.
Beautiful camper with a great presentation by PJ. Thanks for showing us all of the features.
Kudos to you M’am. You are very knowledgeable about your product.
Wow , a very nice no slide camper .
Great Explanation good moderator.
Very good presentation
Sweet!
Why isn't there 20 bolts on each jacks like the Artic Fox 990 and why can't you extend the awning. So I can see it in action.
...26 minutes and you never mentioned the passenger-side awning! Lol. Beautiful camper. And I always like watching your reviews, PJ. You make me want to come to Round Rock from central Vermont when I'm ready to buy.
She mentioned that awning, toward the end I believe.
Nice !!! Skål !!!
my 1988 Hornet has all the same stuff and pretty white walls and cabinetry.
So cool
Awesome
Great video and awesome Camper but you really should start every truck camper video with the truck bed size needed, as well as the payload weight.
Very good point, but I'm thinking nothing short of a properly equipped one-tonne on this beast.
Don't you get wheels included?
Does the generator run the air conditioner
Yay 🤩 I love Round Rock TX 🙌. I lived there for a while Beautiful ❤️
F 350 dualy - 40 to 70k and the host Everest - 50 to 60k with large 200 watt solar x 2 and you're set. Also for crying out laud get an atmospheric water maker...it not only pulls moisture out of the air, but makes 1 to 3 gallons of water per day. Its filtered and there is your coffee water, what ever you don't use pour it back into the water tank and this works on any camper, some even come with their own solar unit. Also lithium ion batteries, when the AGM need to be replaced...get lithium ion. Also whatever you choose make sure its 4 season otherwise you will regret it. Another great gadget is a wireless weather station you can hang on the wall so you know what is really going on outside. 4 wheel drive is great also if you want to be off the beaten path. So many tips and tricks, but its not cheap to set this up. I also put a heat strip in the AC unit and have a Honda 2000 generator that runs it all. Propane should be used for cooking and heating water and it will last a long time. Now they have instant hot water. Diesel rigs are much better then gas and last much longer.
Yeah I think that campers messing is outlets by the badd to be able to plug in in case you were C pack or you wanna charge your phone so let's seal and stressing on the both bedsides so if you would add that that would be a perfect camper
B. Nice if u could put a washer Dyer combo n it
I have an 06 F150 crew cab with a 68" deep bed- will that unit fit my truck?
I would love to see this unit on a dully crew can truck.
I like those dually crew cans!!! 🤔
Can the grey tank be dumped separately from the black tank?
What is the biggest truck camper I can use , I have a 2003 Silverado 2500HD duramax with a 5 speed allison transmission. About 700hp to the transmission .
A classy presentation PJ! So much better than those loud, obnoxious, uncouth idiots that try to sell their inferior products. Awesome!!!!
Very nice and thanks for sharing but can I ask how high is the inside when standing up please?

How big of truck do you need ?
I LIKE THE LOOK OF THIS I STILL LIKE WHITE WITH GREY TRIMS (when most r going black/grey charcoal THIS LOOKS NICE, I'M REALLY LEANING TOWARDS 'ADVENTURER' 50th aniv model but everything is black!
I love the layout and the amount of storage and prepping area in this unit. Also, as always, the pesentation was flawless and very entertaining. The only ‘but’ would be the look of the camper over all. It looks so dated, the carpet on the floors, the color of the wood and the dinette area… not my cup of tea. I’m a big fan of NuCamp campers and I really thing this one looks much more spacious and functional.
I really loved this camper and features but I prefer much lighter wood on the interior and more color inside . I am a female writer and would use this to camp at lakes to do my writing and to have a brighter colored hue to the inside is just more relaxing to me as I really hate dark brown and black in any living quarter.
Seems like the more in depth research I do on these claimed 4 season campers is they are good as long as 1 of those seasons isn’t winter.
I'm curious how cold of a winter did you need a camper for?
Cold snaps to -20 are always possible.
I lived in a large 5th wheels for 3 years with temps down to -30
They need to double the r value and a higher btu furnace.
Being plugged in is best of coarse and run electric heat to curb the moisture issues.
Ok, that's much colder than i need it for. Thanks
Keep in mind that I’ve heard that even in northern Cali or Nevada that they loose heat fast at night.
The Bigfoot 2500 series arebetter insulated and have a 30k btu furnace.
The NL only have 18,000 btu units.
Many years ago I owned a Pick Up truck camper. Is there a way today to disengage the jacks so the unit can't be stolen while sitting in my yard when it is not being used?
It’s not usually done, but jacks are attached to the camper with 3 bolts and the electric wire can be unplugged. If the remote is not available, it’s a lot of trouble to steal a camper, but it can be done!
I love that it's 4-season and I like the pantry. I don't love the interior decor and it would bother me that the windows over the sink and table are not centered.
I like all the design. If i win in lotto i will buy that camper truck for my family and my sithzou
The fridge doors open the incorrect way for easy access from the kitchen area. Can they be reversed like domestic units? Thanks
it is a domestic unit
What can a person do about condensation?
Can this fit on a 2500 Chevy or 2500 ford?
Does Northern offer an airconditioning unit? or an electrical induction stove? Is there an option for cable or satellite TV? Is the roof safe to walk on?
Air conditioner, yes. Electric induction stove, no. It has connections for cable/satellite service (can be installed at a dealership, too). The roof is safe to walk on.
Is there a 120v outlet under the dinette?
Looks like one next to the vent maybe.
Yes there is
Nice
What size truck do you need?
price?
So cute what truck does it fit?
im kinda curious if a truck camper would fit in a stepside bed
I think it would. It sits between the wheel wells anyway, but you are talking about a half ton truck, I believe, which is too lite for a serious truck camper like this one.
Great presentation. What is the price for this camper? What size truck would you need to use to carry this?
About 54k cdn
A dually is best but a well optioned srw can carry about 4200lbs
I'm new to campers. Can these campers ordered with different or custom interior color scheme?
There are fabric choices, but the cabinets remain the same.
How much is a rig like this? Does it need a dually truck?
Can this be used off the truck so you can leave it at the campsites to explore the area?
Yes, it’s perfectly fine to detach and use the camper separate from the truck.
You not show us what is in the roof ?
Is there a way to order a 220 V elec and British std outlet to be installed
How much weight you can apply on the roof top
Is there any possibility to make the truck cabinet accessed from the camper
You’d need to contact the manufacturer directly for modifications like these. Email or call Northern Lite to see what they’re able to do for you.
@@PrincessCraft thank you
"Made in Canada....would you expect anything less?".....a very nice compliment, this Canuck thanks you.....for the record, we can produce crap too......:)
Also, no plugs on the sides of the bed. Where do you plug in your phone chargers, tablet charger, etc.
I know right Mike! The horror!
I have a stupid question how do you connect the truck with the camper, I really don't have a clue
The camper raises up on its jacks and you back your pickup truck underneath it. Once the truck is properly aligned and beneath the camper, just lower the camper down, connect power (from the truck), and secure it with tie-downs. From there, you're in business, so-to-speak!
@@PrincessCraft thank you
I was worried you where gonna dislocate you wrist opening does cabinets
I have a 2500 diesel Chevrolet short bed will it fit on a short bed
NO
10' 2" buddy, no way.
Hello is this a true four season camper what type of insulation do you use ?
It is a true 4 season camper. The manufacturer, Northern Lite, uses block foam insulation throughout the structure, and they double up that insulation under the cab-over portion of the camper.
It gets -50 degrees in winter in northern Canada, u think this would hold up & b warm in that ,that's a 4 season camper,I know ,cause I live there
And what is the price
If you mentioned this I apologize but I was wondering about the price?
42000$
What is the runtime of the generator with 10lbs of propane?
Not much time maybe 3 hours
Don't give too many negative or they will delete your comment, like mine! You spend 50k on a camper and are not even allowed to post an honest review.
Heard they have bad condensation issues...
You do a fine job on these video's PJ. I am 6'4" and weigh 260. I would really like to see from time to time a tall man or woman in your campers to give a different perspective. Thanks.
Thank you, and I agree (this isn't PJ). If it helps even a little, I'm the guy who holds the camera (iPhone) when we record these videos, and I'm also 6'4", 230#.
@@PrincessCraft Thanks for the fast reply. That would be great so I (and others) of my dimensions can get a better idea of how well a fit a certain camper would be. Wish you all the best.
Do they make these with slide-outs?
Sorry, but they do not.
Price?
I would like to know how would you add a hitch for a boat or trailer to an o er head camper
The hitch receiver would still be attached to the frame of the truck, not the camper. Many owners opt to install a super hitch and a longer tow bar to give more distance between the truck and the trailer being towed. Hitch assemblies like this are easily installed, just like the original class 3 hitch receivers, typically bolt-on, attaching to the truck's frame.
Price wld have been nice
PRICE?????? . . . EXTRAS??? . . . SALES LOCATION????? . . . PHONE?????
Any ability to pull a trailer with the patio deck being so big?
There is, but you need a hitch extension.
I find myself wondering about that myself. I have often imagined myself needing a small trailer.
noonefan Pulling a trailer is a concern for me as well. To address this let's solve the moment equations. I'll use my 2017 F-350 long bed, a 'baseline 100 pound tongue weight, and no weight equalizer setup as an example.
STOCK CONFIGURATION (i.e. no camper, or at least none that require a hitch extension)
The distance from the rear wheel's contact with the ground to the end of the tow receiver is 49 inches
The tow ball assembly with the shortest distance from the end of the receiver is 7 inches (the shorter the better)
The resulting distance from the rear wheel the the tow ball is 56 inches (49 + 7)
Wheelbase (inches): 142" regular cab (front seat only), 164" extended cab, 176" 4 door crew cab
Reduced weight on front wheels: 39 lbs for 142" WB, 34 lbs for 164" WB, 32 lbs for 176" WB
Increased weight on rear wheels: 139 lbs for 142" WB, 134 lbs for 164" WB, 132 lbs for 176" WB
CONFIGURED WITH HITCH EXTENSION FOR THIS CAMPER
Given this unit has an 11 foot floor as well as a rear deck that is over a foot long, the extension would need to be very long, at least 4 feet. Using 4 feet for calculations, here is the effect:
Reduced weight on front wheels: 73 lbs for 142" WB, 63 lbs for 164" WB, 59 lbs for 176" WB
Increased weight on rear wheels: 173 lbs for 142" WB, 163 lbs for 164" WB, 159 lbs for 176" WB
You can see how dramatic the effect is of extending the hitch would be.
These calculations ignore the considerable addition of the overhanging weight associated with just the extension hitch and its frame. This would easily be the equivalent of a 100 pound tongue weight just by itself. Furthermore, the center of gravity (C.G.) for this camper is way behind the rear wheels. This in turn implies that its loaded weight of 4000+ pounds will result on a rear axle loading weight well in excess of 4000 pounds and the front wheels being unloaded by the amount that the rear is loaded that is in excess of 4000 pounds. (Note: The horizontal and vertical location of the C.G. should be provided by the manufacturer, at least as a baseline, if not specific to the chosen options)
These calculations are linear in the sense that if the tongue weight is, say, 10 times more (1000 pounds), the resulting effect on the front and rear wheels will also be ten times more.
The highest payload of the 2017 F350, non dually is the 2WD, regular cab, gas powered variant at 4000 lbs. The payload drops off considerably as the trucks base weight increases. For my non dually, crew cab, 4wd, Diesel, long bed, it is 2800 lbs. (Just selecting a Diesel and its transmission reduces the payload relative to a gas engine & its transmission by a whopping 700 pounds!)
The implication...Even getting the truck with the highest payload (regular cab, 2wd, gas engine) and even without a hitch extension, the combination of the 4000 lb weight along with the added effect of the C.G. location, a dually is the only legal option. Loading a non dually beyond the rated payload risks citations, premature wear and much greater liability in the event of an accident.
A dually increases these payload capacities by roughly 2500 pounds. But even with a dually, the tongue weight is going to be quite limited because of the long extension and the large overhang of the camper's C.G. All but the lightest trailers will need both a stabilizer and weight equalizer.
CulleyT Interesting. A few questions;
Do you have a Dually or single rear wheel?
How much length does your hitch extension add? (over four feet, as it would need to be here?)
What does your trailer weigh, loaded?
What is the approximate weight of what is loaded into the truck bed?
CulleyT Thanks for the reply. So, your fully loaded tongue weight should be ~1000 pounds. Based on the calculations in my prior comment, assuming you have a long bed and and assuming your wheelbase is about that of the Ford extended cab( 164 inches), that 1000 pounds would increase the load on the rear axle by ~1600 pounds (assuming no equalizer). If your rated payload is ~6000 pounds, you could load the truck bed with 4400 pounds and still be legal (assuming that load's C.G. is not behind the rear axle, as is so often the case).
The numbers alone say it's OK. But I get queasy about the effects such a long leverage arm extending out to a 1000 pound load. Specifically, if you had to make an abrupt turn at speed...yikes!
