Welcome to the Official Paramount Movies UA-cam Channel! Here we’ll be celebrating Paramount Pictures’ iconic films and new releases. We’ll take you deeper into your favorite movies, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Top Gun, A Quiet Place, Transformers, Star Trek, Forrest Gump, Mission: Impossible, and many more!
I am SO glad they FINALLY did a proper movies on this wonderfully , exuberant, and hyperbolic folk story! well done.
Honestly the ‘Gef’ story freaked me out as a kid. It seemed so frighteningly surreal in how it would sink its black claws down through the white ceiling, scratch people and then, in ‘well-mannered’ tones, advise them to put ointment on the wound . . . Or that’s they’d glimpse it scurrying around on the farm in broad daylight . . .
SAME. First read about Gef in a book of monsters back in the 70's and it left a permanent imprint on me in a very big way. Fascinating and frightening. And if I'm being honest, it still is.
Gef the Talking Mongoose has been one of my all time favorites since I discovered the story at 9 years old! I am blindsided that this movie is being made and I am so excited for it! I am so hyped that others will learn about Gef and the family!
Extra clever
Earthbound spirit
Ghost in the form
Of a mongoose
And I have hands
And I have feet
I'll never die
I am a freak
Hello, I'm here
I'm living in the wall
I know I might be small, but
I, I, I, am a
Freak
Thou wilt never
Know what I am
I am the fifth dimension
And I'll split the atom
And if you see me
You're paralyzed
Pillar of salt
You're mummified
Hello, I'm here
I'm living in the wall
I know, I might be small
But I am the Eighth Wonder
And I was born
1852
And I was born
In India
And I shall haunt
Like the Buggane
With such weird noise
And clanking chains
Hello, I'm here
I'm living in the wall
I know I might be small, but
I, I, I, am a
Freak
I say "vanished"
To underground
Jim, let me go
I watch like Hell
And I have hands
And I have feet
I'll never die
I am a freak
Hello, I'm here
I'm living in the wall
I know I might be small
But I am the eighth wonder
Eighth wonder of the world
You'll never get to see
What in the name of God can I be?
“Eighth Wonder” by Lemon Demon
I'm a simple person. I see Simon Pegg, I click
Did i ghostwrite this?
the movie seem very imbecilic, but if anyone can make it funny it's Pegg.
Hope I don't get bored, absurdist humor is not my cup of tea.
Same!
same
I cant wait.
I have adored Gef since I first heard about the story, so I am SO glad that other people will find out about him too
I'm so curious, I want to see it online but I don't want to spoiler me anything T_T
Too bad it seems the liberties they've taken almost make it a different story
The story frightened me when I was a child
wait i dont get it is this movie bassed on true story??? how could this be possible
That one Lemon Demon song is getting a movie huh
Ahh the story of Gef. I started studying parapsychology in elementary. It's good to see his story finally being told.
Will Neil Cicierega be in the movie I think this is very important
More importantly, will there be a grand orchestral interpretation of Eighth Wonder?
@@ryyhno9924 that would be AMAZING, yes
YOU HAD ME AT NEIL GAIMAN!!
Wonderful to see Christopher Lloyd.
Only good thing in this stinker of a film!
Honk honk
I’ve been a big Gef fan for years. Such a strange story. Can’t wait to see this.
I hope it plays in theaters in the US. Simon Pegg actually makes a lot of movies (look up his imbd) but in the last few years only his Star Trek and Mission Impossible movies played in theaters. Even his film about aliens voiced by the cast of Monty Python got a lot of on line promotion but went direct to streaming. They are all easy to find on VOD but I'd like to see this one in a theater.
HECKING YES!!! FINALY! If there is a true story about an encounter with a paranormal entity that lasted more then a minute, then it is the story of Geff. My favourite part of it is that it seemed that even Geff himself didn't quite know who he was
Sorry for wierd phrasing, if there is any. I'm just a ghost in the form of a weasel and I shall haunt this comment section with wierd noises and clanking chains. Chink-chink-chink
Towards the end of the trailer the entrance to the cave is giving me flashbacks of 'The Killer Rabbit's Lair' from Monty Python and the Holy Grail!!!
thanks for the reminder......
prepare the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch
Should've had Channing Tatum say "My Name Is Gef" on the other end of the phone. 😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man, when I heard The Last Podcast on the the Left about Jeff the Talking Mongoose I never imagined I would love to see a major motion picture about him.
Iirc this'll be at the end of the whole Gef thing, but I really wanna hear "I did it for the devilment". One of my favorite LPOTL episodes, the boys love Gef!
Someone finally made a movie about one of the funniest cryptids
Is it just me or is Simon Pegg doing an impression of Christoph Waltz? Because that is what I am hearing. Still movie looks interesting might go and see it.
I was moments from making the same observation. Glad it wasn't just me!
That's what you get when you hire a brit to play a hungarian
Simon Pegg in the lead is an instant yes
I loved when they said "It seems like there's a mongoose... *among us* "
I seriously cannot wait for this movie to come out. I’ve always been fascinated by the story.
Oh...Oooh! Christopher Lloyd and Neil Gaiman (and, yep,Simon Pegg,I know,I know). It may be interesting.
And cheers for C. Lloyd🍻 (For me he always will be Doc).Good to know he still acting and (I hope) everything is alright with him.
He (Christopher Lloyd) just had a pretty decent part in the season finale of the Mandalorian.
@@maven2k One flew over the cookoo's nest was a classic.
@maven2k he had a really fun part in Nobody (with Bob Odenkirk) too. It's great to see him still working 😊
Super happy for Simon Pegg in this starring role. He deserves his flowers.
I’ve seen a sample of Gef’s fur in the special collections at the Senate library in London! I even visited the site where the farmhouse was. The story grabs ahold of you and obsesses you.
Gef sounds like he could be Jason Schwartzman lol
He's actually played by Neil Gaiman, the famous author known for Coraline and The Sandman, among other things
Hehe
Shame they didnt manage Manx accents but it's entertaining to see this story getting an airing.
The Irvings are a slightly eccentric family... its amazing their story attracted so much attention at the time.. Dalby is worth a visit. Small remote overlooking the Irish Sea across to Ireland. Sunsets over the sea. Very exposed. Sometimes very beautiful sometimes v bleak. Just down the road are the beautiful places of Niarbyl, Lag ny Killey, and the fishing town of Peel also has some cracking views. Castle, sandy beach, sealife, ice cream, kippers, good food and drink, winding streets. .
Ps if you do go to Dalby the chapel do tea & biscuits and have a guest room.
Neat, it'd be fun to visit there if I ever get the chance to go to Britain someday!
I had no idea of this story until i watched this movie. It spooked me a little i must admit. I only watched it because it had Simon Pegg. It was really good :)
Simon Pegg channelling Christophe Waltz is something else.
Saw this in "suggestions" and got curious. I got to say, this movie looks...weird, but in a fun and fascinating way!
I LOVE THIS FILM. Growing up in the 70's when In Search Of and the "weird creatures" documentaries hit the mainstream I ate up every book on the subject I could find and one of them featured the story of Gef who quickly and permanently occupied the highest echelon of my cast of cryptid characters. Gef was scary and fascinating and weird and I never really got over it. Fast forward to the release of this film (a shocking surprise to say the least) and all those feelings about my personal Mount Everest of paranormal crypto-creatures came rushing back. I adored every minute of this film and was stunned that something crafted so perfectly reached the light of day in this age of cinema. The presentation, cast, score and handling of the subject matter were absolutely perfect and instantly propelled this one into my top ten favorite films of all time. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I loved it. Highest recommendation.
Good to see Christopher Lloyd again.
Love any film set in the British land....💕💕... just feel so cozy, so familiar, so .....endearing....
It’s a fascinating story, glad to see it getting some exposure finally. Paranormal or a hoax? We’ll never know.
It's obviously a hoax, you can find some UA-cam channels that tell and debunk the story.
"We'll never know" if there was a talking mongoose? Really?
Yeah, it was a hoax.
I like Benji and all like any man ...but Simon Pegg doing quarky roles like this is his bread and butter with a cherry
Lloyd and Pegg in the same movie? Yes!
Mere days after listening to the Chilluminati episode on this, I get the trailer for the movie in my UA-cam recommendations
Simon Pegg crying “please” with his face wedged between bars changed me on a molecular level 1:45
Love you guys undercutting this film's theatrical potential by announcing the home release date at the same time. Classic move.
Holy crap was this based on a true story and cryptic on a talking mongoose.
Oh I mean cryptid
The worst part is that they almost certainly didn't bother to get "Eighth Wonder" by Lemon Demon for the soundtrack.
That is a perfect Christoph Waltz impression!
Pegg’s character voice sounds amazing AND where has Minnie❤❤❤been all these years?
At a used bookstore, years ago, I found a copy of "On the Trail of the Poltergeist" by Dr. Nandor Fodor. Inside, it was inscribed, "[Woman's Name]: To shiver her beautiful timbers." Also inside was a note from the good (?) Doctor sternly accusing this woman of having run way from him "like a mouse" at the book signing.
The whole thing seems a little lecherous by today's standards, but it was likely quite normal for the time period. :D
Since then I've seen him cited as a reference in some papers and books and I find him and his interests deliciously curious.
I'm very much looking forward to this film!
Simon Pegg and Christopher Lloyd in the same movie? Oh you shouldn't have! ^_^
Amazing. I miss movies like this so much… love marvel movies, but I miss these
Simon Pegg looks perfectly cast as Dr Nandor Fodor....this looks like an absolute hoot!!
Agent Benji doing side missions now
GEF!! Loved this story when I was a kid. (and still now)
i REALLY hope they use eighth wonder by lemon demon for the credits
Bacon without the fat!
Honk honk.
Paul Kaye looks like Gary Oldman playing Sirius Black
More like Gary Oldmans grandad playing a tramp!
they did it for the devilment!
"I saw something nasty in the woodshed!"
I think Nandor is a really cool name..
_"No luck catching them mongeese then."_
_"It's the one mongoose actually."_
First heard about Gef from the Chilluminati podcast! Oh man I have to see this film!
A movie about Gef the talking mongoose. This will be good.
Loved Gef for a long time I love this!!
Simon Pegg doing Christoph Waltz Django Unchained voice in this film.
All I’m gonna hear when I see Gef is Henry Zebrowski from LPOTL episode on this cryptid
Simply can’t wait for this one !
The boys from The Last Podcast on The Left are gonna go nuts
I've been waiting for this to come out!
Simon Pegg is good in mission impossible movies.✨
He's the worst thing about them. He ruins all the ones he's in.
@@satay71Bad take, Benji is da man
Simon Pegg sounds like Christoph Waltz in this movie.
Always here for Simon Pegg
Holy moly! It's Gef!
Why am I hearing Christoph Waltz coming from Simon Pegg's mouth??
Gef the Mongoose?? Omg I didn’t think this would ever be a movie! Wow
Quite possibly the most British story I've heard in a while.
Hi... paramount universe....love from Delhi in India...❤❤❤
OH MY GOD???? LEMON DEMON??? I LOVE GEF SO MUCH OH MY GODDDDDDD
why are there 19 executive producers?
Eight Wonder starts playing
Simon Pegg and Christopher Lloyd? Well gimme a ticket!!
I’m sorry, but did this trailer imply Neil Gaiman is playing a talking Mongoose
He is the voice of Gef.
Looking forward to watching this film
Been hoping for a movie that covered some aspect of the Spiritualism Movement of the late 1890s and early 1900s. Harry Price, the many seances and mediums claiming to project ectoplasm, Gef the talking mongoose, and now I finally get to see something. I've always been weirded out by the entire saga of parapsychology investigations that took place at the time because I read a book that showed pictures of spirit photography and it creeped me out.
Didn’t recognise Simon Pegg from the thumbnail at all, and I’ve never heard of the story of Gef but it looks interesting. Nice to see Minnie Driver back on the silver screen too 😊
I love this crazy story.
GEF!!!! Thank you chilliuminati!
Cherck the executive producer credits at the end. Based on the quantity of names, you might be listed.
Pretty good impression of Christoph Waltz
Honk Honk!
Umm...yes. To everyone in this movie! I didn't know this story, but will be looking it up now
There is a compelling film to be made of this story, but I fear this won't be it. Like the Cottingley Fairies case a few years earlier, the talking mongoose is a warning about human credulity and how an innocent game can so easily get out of hand. At its core it is a story of loneliness and isolation. The story is not a comedy. If anything, it is a tragedy.
We fed the tolpa and here we are now. Infecting everyones mind with the knowledge of Gef
If they make a Sam the Sandown Ghost Clown move after this I can die happy.
Oh, this looks fun. It will be a pain finding a theatre actually playing the movie though.
First movie trailer in YEARS that made me want to see the movie. I’m just going to have ignore the black person for diversity and inclusion. There are no non-woke movies anymore. I was pleased to see the progress that there was a movie in a white country during a time period it was predominantly white that had proper casting.
I really hope the credit song is 8th wonder by lemon demon!!
EIGHTH WONDER OF THE WORLD!
minnie driver hasn't aged a day since Good Will Hunting
1:06 Will Kristoff Waltz want his voice back?
I guess this movie is for everyone who watched The Wonder (because of Florence Pugh) and The Lost King (because of Sally Hawkins) and wanted to have just a little bit more fun?
I like movies with weird main plots, so this looks great :D
O Senhor é a minha força e o meu escudo; nele confiou o meu coração, e fui socorrido; assim o meu coração salta de prazer, e com o meu canto o louvarei.
🫶Salmos 27:8
