I was learning about Roman wax tablets in my history class, and I think that it would be a fun addition to your belt pouch. They were wooden frames that had wax in them. You could write in the wax with a wooden stylus and erase later. I really enjoyed the video. Have fun at comic con!
I love the open and go ideas. Very convenient and practical. As someone who loves to write and enjoys functional aesthetics, I would wear that bag until the day I die unless I make like 50 versions of them
the cloth for cleaning the nib is a cool addition, especially if you dont want ink on your clothes, but i think it'd be a super cool character detail if the bard just smeared ink on their pants right by the pouch, solely because it's more convenient than the cloth. Like, it'd be the quill equivalent of wiping the blade of your sword on your pants to clean it really quickly. I mainly think it'd be cool because the ink stain would be a really cool bit of visual storytelling. Like, imagine the bard's pants all have basically the same ink stain on the front of their thigh *because* of this quill. And they could totally keep the cloth, so they can properly clean the cloth (swordsmen often keep cleaning supplies for their swords to be properly serviced when they have the time)
That's a bad-ass build! The dripless inkwell was genius! I'd love to make something like that myself! Now, to make that sweet outfit Burgschneider sent more personal with some weathering or personal character bits (other than the awesome bit of kit you just built, of course) like embroidery, or sewn on braid.❤
fun fact about multi purpose tools, a large number of leather tools can be found by other names in woodworking tool! Things like edge bevelers, many of the knives, and more!!
Heck yeah! I love that folk are starting to realise there's more to bards than lutes and lasciviousness. In fact, my best bard was indeed also a Storyteller! Kept a list of Aesops Fables to bust out-of-context quotes from as Bardic Inspiration, let Narrative Causality guide his actions.
So an after fact note to give your scribe notebook if there's a 2.0, is to use weatherproof waxed paper. You can get a ream at Rite in the Rain and it works great for stuff like this.
I made a simple cartographer's/scribe kit for my ren fair/reckoning character based off the smoking pipe kit a while back. I need to make a newer one but I'm glad to see more ideas to use!
Awesome build! I would love to try making something like this. The dripless inkwell is a great idea. I wonder if you could add even more ink bottles in different colors along the side with each color representing a different kind of magic.
3:00 I don't know why because it doesn't look like his costume in the movie, but when you put everything on it was really giving Chris Pine in Honor Amongst Thieves!
90% of the time I watch the episodes on my phone. Tonight I was watching on my computer and OMG!!!! How long has the crafting symbol filled up with color at the episode goes?!? That is pretty dang cool. So is the bag you made. :) Inspiring always.
I just gotta say, always makes me exceptionally happy to see a new skill tree video. One of the big highlights of the week. Thank you for all the inspiration you supply us with❤
I absolutely love the tiny paint pallets that people have been wearing. I'm still trying to figure out how to use one myself. In the meantime, I love how this works for calligraphy nibs!
BEAUTIFUL addition to a bard costume, and SUPER adaptable for something like a wizard with a spell tome! Im definitely coming back to this in the future for my own Arcane Purposes (TM)
Its awesome that you added an ink well. But I think I'd have just used a biro "Quill" pen, and played it off as a magic quill that never needs inking lol
The whole concept of a story telling bard, is brilliant! :D I'm an old D&D nerd, but haven't played for 20 years.. but my thing back in the day, were unique character twists, and this is just perfect! Love the whole idea of magic through the stories.. oh my mind are raging with story ideas, and character details!.. Also your design of a scribe belt pouch is fantastic! Definitely gonna try to make something like that. Just found your channel recently, and have been binging your old videos for tips and ideas. I'm a low level Leatherworker, and trying my best to level up fast, so i can make a lot of cool stuff. Thank you for doing what you do, thank you for inspiring me to let out my inner adventurer!
In between uses it would be a good idea to clean the nib more thoroughly. The wipe rage will do for the short term, but over time bits of dry ink can build up inside and clog the nib.
Instead of a spade bit, I would suggest a Forster bit. Those things are great! Not only do you get straighter, cleaner holes, you can also drill overlapping holes.
I need one of these for my play book. Seriously, this would be a great way to carry a script around for taking notes during a rehearsal. I really want to make one of these.
The stuff from Burgschneider looks like someone tried to make a real life version of a medieval cartoon's clothing. I much prefer the bespoke stuff you always make on this channel. Plus you don't have to worry about wearing exactly the same thing as anyone else.
I'm so stoked that you did this. I've been gathering the items I need for a sort of similar project that I hope to start soon. As usual, you've given me some great ideas to incorporate. 👍👍
The other thing you could do about the leftover ink on the pen is create a wooden pen cap with the foam in it so the pen tip goes into the cap and the foam soaks up the leftover ink as well as doubles as a small inkwell with the leftover ink.
This is Exactly what i have been looking for i was at my first Ren Faire and the outfit i want to do is a story telling bard so THANK YOU for doing this you brought something i thought was my imagination to life!!
I have been working on a project similar to this for a while now, an artist/scribe all-in-one bag. My overall design is very different but I am definitely stealing the foam in the ink bottle idea. That nicely solves a problem I was having with ink. Extra pats on the back for that one.
Putting the sponge in the ink well was a super idea! I was thinking "Yeah it's cool, but man that ink is going to be a hassle to use. I wonder what he's going to do about that?" and boom, problem solved lol. You really rate more than 130k subs dude.
Perhaps you should angle your quill to the other diagonal. It would make the quill easier to "draw" and "holster". plus it would then match the logo on the cover.
Another fantastic project, and so well made too! I love the quill you've got, but in that period the flights of the goose feather would be removed from the actual quill, leaving it bare! (The flights were, I belive, used as arrow fletchings) also you should have a little penknife in your kit to cut new quills!)
I recently saw this about the quills being featherless. Makes more sense if you imagine them in a cup on a desk. Fluffy tops would be in the way, knocking the cup over often.
@@oakmaiden2133 Hi there, I do believe some scribes did keep a small tuft of fletching at the top of the quill, cut flat, to brush away debris on the writing surface of the parchment!
I think I would have made a gauntlet to hold the pen and accessories, but this is pretty dope too. Also, It may be a good idea to link the 2 strips with something that allows you to opoen both at the same time to quicken access to the quill
I think personally i wouldve had the quill standing up on the side for quick access and already in the ink well so its a stopper for the well and is automatically inked to use and no need to wipe off excess ink when done 🤷
Dang... very cool idea and ngl I could totally see a d&d character of mine borrowing that idea to use for them since they are an artificer that like to draw and invent on the fly. That and any wizard would benefit so much. Love ya work and inspiration it give. Keep it up mate
not gonna lie, seeing you in that outfit made me instantly think of the D&D Movie XD You would have made a great bard and you really got rhe looks :D And loove that build! I wanted to make something like that back in the days with a bracer, but i never got to it

Thank you so much!
For the details, when in costume, don't forget the ink stains on your fingers...
Oh, it'll happen!
And in the cuffs of the shirt
A stained lip for pen nibblers 😊

I really enjoyed the video. Have fun at comic con!
I love that inkwell! I mean, I love the whole thing, but the drip-free inkwell was inspired!
Totally makes sense you'd be a Lore Bard with all the extra skills they get
I love the open and go ideas. Very convenient and practical. As someone who loves to write and enjoys functional aesthetics, I would wear that bag until the day I die unless I make like 50 versions of them
First thing I thought about the ink on the quill was to flick it off on the monster like a samurai flicks the blood off a katana.. Love the build!

A spell caster/healers journal. The pages adorned with thumb nail sketches of ingredients. Recipes and notations.
You would need a sandhorn too, for faster drying the of the ink, so it wont smear out
So an after fact note to give your scribe notebook if there's a 2.0, is to use weatherproof waxed paper. You can get a ream at Rite in the Rain and it works great for stuff like this.
waxed paper is not going to soak up the ink though... so writing with pen and ink is going to be a problem...
@emy6732 they actually make specialized inks that work on those papers, but yeah it's a process to make the set fully waterproof.
I made a simple cartographer's/scribe kit for my ren fair/reckoning character based off the smoking pipe kit a while back. I need to make a newer one but I'm glad to see more ideas to use!

I like how you think.

You should do journal/book making next. I've made a few, but I'd love to see your target on it!

Never thought I would be taught leather working by Ryan Reynolds's twin 💀

Very dope man, very dope.
Legit, I’m playing an Eloquence bard in a campaign who’s magic runs through stories and writing! I love seeing someone else with the same thought!

Love that you guys keep getting to do cooler things each video
This is my favorite video because I love pens and writing. Good job.
I need one of these for my play book. Seriously, this would be a great way to carry a script around for taking notes during a rehearsal. I really want to make one of these.
You are *totally* a bard. Never doubt it.

I may have been overly distracted by that snazzy jacket and how well you pull it off. Lookin good!

OMG 😅 My husband and I have fallen in love with this channel!
We love you so much 😍
I feel a wave of bardic inspiration!
As a modern day scribe… I adore this idea.
you know...there is enough space in that board for more inkwells, which means...
you could add colour to your concept of magic :D
So creative! Since I write bits to give to patrons, I want to have the wooden piece as a desk . . .
This is Exactly what i have been looking for i was at my first Ren Faire and the outfit i want to do is a story telling bard so THANK YOU for doing this you brought something i thought was my imagination to life!!
omg the sponge trick was brilliant!
College of Lore Bard is one of my favorites! I'm going to be trying for a College of Whispers bard next time I play one.
This looks awesome, Clever!
I love this cuz my bards an artist. I can't wait to make this
Love It. Love it. It reminds me of Dan Willis' dieselpunk series THE ARCANE CASEBOOK.
If only Brother Gilbert had this haha. This is awesome! Definitely on my project list.
This is definitely your most ingenious project yet!
Really cool project, now I want to make a version for my sketchbook.

Fantastic project as always, Kit!
Yes! This is the one I've been waiting for.
You look adorable in this outfit!
great video, you should make natural inks, with soot and distilled water and a wax tablet.
Putting the sponge in the ink well was a super idea! I was thinking "Yeah it's cool, but man that ink is going to be a hassle to use. I wonder what he's going to do about that?" and boom, problem solved lol. You really rate more than 130k subs dude.
I think it'd be neat to color coordinate the cord so that it matches your outfit!
I was literally thinking about something like this a week ago. This is awesome!
Amazing timing this video had
That is a really awesome build, really ingenious!
The more vids you do the more i love your stuff and the more im needing to try
DUDE! THAT IS FRIGGIN GENIUS!!
Just so you know, the jacket at 2:48 looks like a landsknecht jacket, i.e a 16th century mercenary ;)
I can see Cornelius wearing this
Dont forget the sand for the scribe kit
First thing that came to my mind when I read "Battle Scribe" was Log Horizon
This is pretty awesome! Or maybe it's how excited he is about it. Either way its great.
Perhaps you should angle your quill to the other diagonal. It would make the quill easier to "draw" and "holster". plus it would then match the logo on the cover.
I've been watching these videos for a while just because I love crafting but I may have to finally make one of these for myself
Plus one level Bard
This is super cool!!!!💚🖤💚

You should try to come up with a project that somehow turns a camera into a lore-friendly.....thing. a scryerbeast, or sentient tome or something
thank you. very inspiring!
That is really cool and creative!!!
Make a small drum for the bard. often poets and story tellers would use them to either keep a rhythm or for sound effects,
Outstanding
I think personally i wouldve had the quill standing up on the side for quick access and already in the ink well so its a stopper for the well and is automatically inked to use and no need to wipe off excess ink when done 🤷
While playing a bard, you buit a Wizard's spellbook. It's brilliant either way, just thought that was a bit funny.
I think you need a hat with a spare feather in it.
Hmm magic will write their deaths !
Another great thing
Puffy sleeves FTW!!
loving it 🖤
I have been waiting to see if you would do something like this!!
Absolutely incredible
This is so cool! I'm down to make it myself. Bravo!
wow first time Im up when a new episode is posted ^_^
This looks awesome
A friend of mine was in a campaign where thier bard was a tiefling fire breather
Genius character building 😅
Dang... very cool idea and ngl I could totally see a d&d character of mine borrowing that idea to use for them since they are an artificer that like to draw and invent on the fly. That and any wizard would benefit so much. Love ya work and inspiration it give. Keep it up mate
Really neat... but remember how much it rained when you went. You might want to mod this to have a rain cover.
not gonna lie, seeing you in that outfit made me instantly think of the D&D Movie XD You would have made a great bard and you really got rhe looks :D
And loove that build! I wanted to make something like that back in the days with a bracer, but i never got to it
Very cool 😀
It would be fun to have different colors inks for different spells you cast. Just a thought.
That turnes out great! Did you think about any sort of rain cover for the top, just in case? Or would a cloak perform that role?
I ordered a lot from this collection
