@@BB-wm4ti that’s old news now. Iowa released the coach with accusations and Kirk started a program where any player can go get help if they need. No players are accusing Kirk of anything
A coach that calls his players, MEN! Because they are men, and I have no doubt they will become great people in this big beautiful country of ours. A player on the Iowa team back in 2001, he is a Navy SEAL commander! This coach doesn’t just teach them the plays, he does his best to make them great men. Thank you sir!
I have only met 2 players under ferentz that were complete assholes. Benny Sapp.....who was tossed off the team.....and Wadley (Enough said there). But the rest have been class acts. Very Humble players
I agree about the second, never met the first, yet, to be that pissed you didn’t make it into the NFL, that you’re willing to fuck over the very program and fans that loved you and treated you like family is disgusting. Iowa should have kept the strength coach! There is always teasing and pushing in training! I’ve been called so many names and bullied, it builds character and determination. If the comments were grossly racist, yep, fire the guy, yet he didn’t! The world is going down a path that is unnervingly like the book of revelations! I lived with my wife in Iowa for 3 years, and NEVER saw or experienced racism anywhere. I want to move back their when we have kids! Reminds me of My country! Love Iowa!
Major difference is Ferentz is coaching young Men, and as the ISU head coach refered to his players as "Kids". Iowa showed us again what happens when kids try to play a Man's game.
Campbell has ISU so wound up when they play Iowa, Ferentz just has to sit back and wait for ISU to screw up and hand him the game. Like they always do.
There ain't nothing wrong with PJ Fleck. I'm a hawks fan but I have nothing but respect for PJ and what he's done for Minnesota. Kirk is just very calm and stoic, PJ is very charismatic. They're both good coaches, just different personalities.
I’m not questioning our defense but I’m worried about our offense. Our offense needs to step if we have any chance of making a run at Big Ten championship or the playoffs. Win or loss I’m a Hawkeye fan for life.
The offense has to start producing at the very least to a "capable' or "solid" level. They dont have to be great, but you cant rely on 3 or 4 turnover every game in good field position or great punt returns.. Somebody is going to figure this defense out and have the tools to expose it. If and when that happens, the offense wont be able to carry the load and the defense will tire. You have to move that ball offensively.
What on Earth are you talking about, Professor? Indiana and ISU are the two best offenses that we'll face all season! Look at our schedule and tell me who that "somebody is" that has the tools to expose our defense. Kent State, Colorado State or Maryland? Ha! Penn State, a team that couldn't figure out our defense in Happy Valley last year? Wisconsin, a team that only got its offensive together because they were playing a miserable MAC team? Northwestern? Illinois or Nebraska? A Minnesota team that dropped 7 points on us last year on their home field?
@@geoffds Ill do you one better. Ill break it down for you. Iowa has scored a total of 61 points in two games. 37 of those points were points off turnovers. Two pick 6's and a scoop and swoop from the defense. the other points off turnovers were scored from a short field with 48 yards being the longest drive after a turnover. THE iowa offense has scored 14 points on drives of 50 plus yards in two games. Thats TWO scores of 50 plus yards in two games total. Is seven points good enough to beat Penn state or Wisconsin? 7 points isnt good enough to beat hardly any team. The offense needs to pick it up a notch. If all they can muster is 7 a game on a long field, Iowa is in trouble. I guarantee you that the defense wont be getting 3 or four turnovers per game all season long. A good ball security team will give iowa trouble.
@@geoffds Here are some drive stats you can find on espn. Lets look at Iowas scoring drives in two games. Vs Indiana they scored on drives of 67 yards, 48 yards, 21 yards, and 40 yards. Vs Iowa State they scored on drives of 49 yards, 71 yards, 0 yards, negative 8 yards, and 18 yards Only TWO scoring drives longer than 50 yards in two games? You had better pray iowas opponents continue to be sloppy with the ball. One score per game on a long field wont beat many teams.
Chill my Hawkeye brethren. Enjoy the win. Iowa has shown they can do a lot of things really well, and yet still need to improve in other areas. Herr is a stat worth mentioning: 1960 was the last National Championship for Iowa Hawkeye Football. That year the Hawks first two games were against ranked opponents and they won both games. I see a repeat of history!
Indiana and Iowa State fell into the same trap. Both teams could move the ball 4 or 5 yards at a time, but both would try for chunk plays that weren't there. If both Indiana and Iowa State would have been patient they both would have won. Nothing makes me happier as an Iowa fan when teams playing Iowa start leaning on the pass, then I know we can win.

You can see how much emotion he has when told about the 5 players raving about their teammates. How could you not love Kirk?

KIRK 4 LIFE! GO IOWA! ANF!

Nah. Iowa just better. The words Ferentz used to describe his team were irrelevant to the outcome.

Pure class … watch Kirk and then watch that little fraud PJ Fleck and realize how fortunate Iowa is to have this type of coach.
