Very helpful video to learn Solo Libertalia, thank you! I especially like your tip about sorting the loot in group/order according to Autuma's plays. This game is an instant hit for me.
I agree! It is kind of a hidden solo gem, I feel. People are overlooking it for some reason but I think it works well. And I like the new art too. Thanks for watching, Honey Lady!
Thank you for this great tutorial and playthrough (as always)! Two minor remarks: 1. You should always remove your character from the island as soon as you took the loot tile and resolved the dusk ability (instead of taking all three away at the same time). In this voyage, it wouldn’t have made a difference, but in some cases it may. 2. You always discard to your graveyard. So, when you discarded the Stowaway (17:10), you should have put it in the graveyard. Then, on the next day, the Surgeon would have been able to resurrect it to your hand (19:18).
The saber can only discard a card from the Island - not from the ship. So if you are last in line to pick a loot token, you can’t use a saber to discard any of your opponents card.
Was looking forward to this playthrough! I hope you’d consider saying your thoughts about the solo mode at the end of the video as well. :) It would help as most games are not solo only. Thanks!
Sorry Cyrille. I'll consider giving my first impressions at the end of future videos. I think the solo mode is great here. It plays quick and offers a simple but fun puzzle that really captures the multiplayer feel of Libertalia. I'm not sure about longevity if you were only to play solo. I prefer it at 5-6 players as a kind of gamery party game. But I'll definitely break out the solo in the future if I'm in the mood. Would I get it if I'm only ever going to play solo. Probably not. Hope that helps and thanks for checking out the playthrough Cyrille!
Its a pretty neat way they came up with to run the AI. I feel that with enough plays you would know what they would play enough to manipulate it though. I think this game works best at 3+ player counts. Its a take that light style game. You are hosing other players but its quick and theres always a chance for revenge. With the right group this would be a top 10.
The original was one of my go-to 6-player games both in person and lately on Board Game Arena. I think the solo and 2-player variants of this one version work fantastically well and the new reputation system is aces. Like other Paolo Mori designs, this game scales well and fills a niche in my collection. Thanks Adam!
No it's not, but my friends have called me Shaggi for over 25 years, so I've definitely adopted it as a pen name of sorts. And to answer further questions: does it relate to Scooby Doo? Yes, kinda, but not because I'm anything like Shaggy. 😀 Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the clarifications and thanks for checking out the video. Appreciate it!

Great solo play explanation! Thank you.

I love those poker chips you are using and their decent look. Do you remember their name or producer or anything else that could help to find them?
Absolutely! Those are Iron Clays from Roxley Games. I talk about them in detail in my Top 10 Board Game Accessories video. Thanks for watching!

Is your name really Shaggy?
