  • My rear brakes get a full overhaul!
Some parts of my rear brakes have been very much needing replaced so I have gathered all the parts to do it all at once!
As featured in a previous video, I am replacing my super rusty dust shields. The stock shields are quite poorly finished from factory which is why they go all rusty so easily so in the previous video, I clear-coated the new ones that I got and since then I have double ceramic coated them so now they look awesome and are properly prepped for action and to last this time!
I also replace my disks and pads as the old disks I have are rather lipped, rusty on the rim and the old Ford pads don't have much life left!
For new pads, I go for EBC Yellow Stuff. These are excellently suited to what I do most of the time - fast road driving - but are also good for some track use (the pads I have are the pre-2021 reformulation that removed copper and take longer to bed in). They are going to perform better than stock and also they will look super cool as they are painted bright yellow!
For new disks, I decided to not only go for a bit of an upgrade but rather I went full on and got the Reyland Motorsport 2-Piece Rear 330mm Big Disc Kit! This kit features disks that are 28mm bigger than stock so will look amazing behind the wheels - the stock rear disks are pretty small looking which I think looks kind of disappointing/inadequate so this kit from Reyland will sort that right out!
The Reyland disks are also two piece meaning that the steel rotor is separate and bolted to the bell which is made of lightweight aluminium so even though they are bigger than stock, the weight does not increase!
The grooves are also something special here. Reyland offer several options and indeed I chose one of them but Reyland asked what disks I had on the front so I told them I was going to be putting on the EBC floating fronts and they then custom cut the unique EBC groove pattern into their rear disks so that they would match - how awesome of a service is that!
The last main upgrade is the solid brake caliper bushings from Damond Motorsports. These replace the squishy rubber bushings with beautifully machined brass parts that look fantastic, last longer and also improve pedal feel!
I show the entire process to do this rear brake overhaul including dismantling and reassembling the caliper / hub / driveshaft along with tips and tricks as well as advice on the right types of grease to use along the way!
    Reyland Motorsport say:
Two piece rear 330mm big disc kit. Supplied with caliper relocation brackets and longer braided Hel hoses. Available in bolted or floating.
Disc surface options: straight grooves, curved grooves, J-grooves & Alcon C type groove.

    EBC say:
EBC yellows are ECE Brake safety tested which means they must work perfectly from cold at least as good or better than stock pads.
High-efficiency performance pad for high friction and improved stopping power.
Not only a high friction pad but very resistant to heat and lots of heavy braking means that Yellowstuff has been used with great success in fast street cars and Police vehicle brakes alike.
EBC Yellowstuff is an aramid fibre based brake compound with a high brake effect from cold and is possibly one of the first ever compounds that can be used for street and track driving. These pads do require some warm-up but get even stronger under the heat of hard driving.

    Damond Motorsport say:
The Damond Motorsports Caliper Bushings have many amazing benefits over the factory style rubber slide bushings. Each bushing is machined to very tight tolerances to allow significantly less caliper deflection under braking. This in turn leads to many performance gains, that you can actually feel and experience on your car. Whether you daily drive or track/race your vehicle, you'll be confident in your stopping ability with the Damond Motorsports Caliper Bushings.
    Benefits:
    - Improved pedal feel
    - Improved brake modulation
    - Improved braking response
    - More even pad wear
    - More even rotor wear
    - Longer maintenance intervals compared to non-sealed bushings

Never thought I’d need a hub puller an pul out the drive shaft just to change the dust shield.

I know, slightly annoying design choice from Ford but it is what it is I suppose

How are you liking the metal brake bushings, I have been eyeing them up for awhile. I need to service my brakes but my biggest issue is deciding when I want to upgrade to the brembo’s on my ST but first I need different wheels to clear the bigger calipers. Good video, very informative as always.
