My numbers were low 185. Started TRT two years ago. I can't believe the difference in how I feel: physically, emotionally... mental fog has been lifted... aches and pains are gone. Life is once again good. I get tested every 6 months for testosterone level (which is around 600), psa, hemocrit and hemoglobin. I am starting to wonder if my estridiol numbers are going up. So in April, I'm going have him check on those.

Jon Lanier what were your “free testosterone levels “
I have an overall testosterone level of 500. My free testosterone level is what’s low 6.5
      I qualify for treatment.

I’ve had heart palpitations for 7+ years-every single day for 7 years. I’ve had all the gold standard tests. My cardiologist said my palpitations are benign. I started taking testosterone gel 5 months ago and they stopped 99%. But I think my testosterone is still a little low cuz I am taking the weakest strength, and after time, synthetic testosterone lowers your natural testosterone, bringing you back to low ish. Anyway, I use to get hundreds or thousands of palps per week. Now I have 1 or none and it was because of the testosterone. Also, I’ve heard insulin resistance can cause things like electrolyte imbalance. And electrolyte imbalances “supposedly” cause palps. I don’t know if I am insulin resistant. But I’ve read that testosterone improves insulin resistant up to 30%. At this point, I’m terrified to stop the testosterone…can I take it forever?

Your post and comment was most needed and may have saved my life... I have had palpitations on and off for 10 years... Recently, about six month ago (Feb2020) they have become daily and much worse... I have actually been to the emergency room (ER) 5 times in a six month period for them, however once the EKG is normal the ER doctors are done dealing with you... Now, after watching this video and reading your comment, I am sure that my very low testosterone and super low PSA levels over 10 years, is a major concern and connected to these palpitations... Many years ago, an Endocrinologist asked if I wanted to start TRT, but I declined because I heard there was a possible link to blood clots.. Gonna give it a try soonest... Hopefully, I can get my life back... I'm only 46yr and just retired from the US NAVY after 27yrs of service... I've got lots of living to do... Thanks... 8/20/2020

@@bosnjonzee I am more sure than ever that Testosterone is linked to my palpitations. I am not saying it is the cause of them, but for me, it IS my remedy. It could be a combination of factors that trigger palpitations e.g., insulin resistance in conjunction with low testosterone, poor thyroid function, low SHBG, too much stress, too much sugar etc. But testosterone has stopped my palpitations.
If you decided to take testosterone-don’t take gels. Get the injectable version because it is more stable in blood. Plus you can use an insulin syringe and inject subcutaneous in the belly-doesn’t hurt. I inject about 35mg 3x per week (105mg per week). TRT gels are too weak. They will work for a few months but eventually it will suppress what little natural testosterone you make, brining you back down to low testosterone level. Injectable versions have a longer half-life and easier to adjust dosage.
Other medications can trigger palpitations. I go to a TRT clinic. They suggest I take anastrozole (anti-estrogen) to prevent too much testosterone from converting into estrogen. But anastrozole isn’t needed if you’re taking normal testosterone dosages. A normal dosage should get your Free Testosterone near upper limit of clinical range, or just slightly over. Anyway, anastrozole can or will trigger palpitations if you take too much. Lowering your estrogen has been directly linked to heart palpitations.
Thyroid medication can also trigger palpitations. Which is another drug these TRT doctors often try and push on you, especially T3 thyroid hormone. T3 is notorious for causing palpitations.
If you take testosterone you need to monitor your testosterone level in the beginning via bloodwork. Don’t focus on your Total Testosterone level. It is the Free Testosterone level that matters. If you have very low or clinically low SHBG then you should inject more frequently. If your SHBG is low, whatever you inject will only be active in the blood for a short time, so frequent injections work best. That is why I inject 3 times per week.
What are the long-term side effects of testosterone? I don’t know. But my opinion is that food is far more deadly. Focus on consuming no more than 2200 calories per day coming from eggs, fruits, nuts, fish and vegetables. And exercise.

Cholesterol isn't what you should be concerned about. What matters is your heart size, function, blood thickness, blood pressure and blood calcium score. These are what kill you.

If your not already on testogel, try it. I'm on one sachet a day. I used to be on 2 weekly injections. My point is, if you put the daily amount on, your not going to get a huge surge all at once. Having said that, none of its an exact science. Earlier I was laying in bed getting loads of palpitations. I put extra half on and they calmed down a lot. I get loads if to low and loads if to high. Had 24hr monitor. Not heard results yet, but didn't get many, typically, when on. Maybe my mind and stress is giving me more. Wouldn't outrule anything anymore.

Hello Sanjay, quick question. I started TRT to replace missing T and I’ve been in afib twice since. It’s been different than my normal afib episodes. Almost more gentle afib vs the more violent feeling I get in my chest. I’ve also been able to get out of it much easier. But it seems replacement is giving me some issues. I’m still new on TRT so things are leveled yet but it’s pretty frustrating.
