    I am just starting pin collecting. I don’t have any yet, but am in the process of buying a few. I wished I lived near Disney or a Disney store

      Disneystore online sells pins too and occasionally you can get them on sale. Also look at the malls near you for a store called boxlunch, its kind of like hot topic but less goth and thell sell Disney pins too and they are cheap! Also check out box lunch online :)

    I just bought a few pins at EPCOT and Magic Kingdom. The waffle on many is as poor as the fake ones.

    Also Disney doesn't use that yellow gold that looks super fake in their pin. Their gold is more subtle light goldlish tint

    Just fyi, the waffle has to go to the edges on hidden mickeys only. any other pins it could still be authentic if it doesnt go to the edge. Ive seen many authentic pins that the waffle doesnt go completely to the edge. hope this helps!!

    I was so happy to have traded for the Pluto cupcake, but it turned out to be fake :( The side by side comparison is super helpful in spotting the slight variation. The difference in quality really dawned on me. Thanks a lot! I'll keep the pin, until I come across an authentic one.

    Thank you. I have pins from the past 25+ years, but recently decided to start trading. I purchased some locally from someone I trusted. Most were fake. My loss but now I'm getting educated. I've even traded authentic pins in park for what I now realize are fake. :-(

    BTW they are real Disney pins but they are what’s called scrappers. The factory was supposed to trash the mold after so many uses but they didn’t.

    • @floridattractions1388
      @floridattractions1388  4 роки тому

      The pin community considers them fake or scrappers because disney did not sell these, they didnt go through Disneys process, inspection or production. They are sold from a third party

    • @catkeena

      True but I was told from a Disney Cast members who had been trained specifically to deal with pin trading and from students in the Disney college program that the “fake pins” are from a Disney pin making Factory. They were just made from molds that were supposed to have been thrown away. To save money, they continued to use the molds despite policy. Also, they said that the reason the resin isn’t as good a quality as a “real pin” is because they used resin that was extremely low or rein that was supposed to be recycled or thrown out. These pins don’t pass Disney inspection which is why they were put into packs. They were supposed to be put into the trash or recycled but instead the people who ran the factory or the owner of the factory chose to sell them despite them not meeting Disney standards.

    Generally, too, the shape of the Mickey heads on the genuine hidden Mickey pins are really defined. The one on the fake tie pin was so poorly defined. Same goes for the shape of the waffle Mickey heads.

    Hi!! I'm so thankful for your video, I'm going on a family Disney World trip in March and so I decided to start buying some pins, and I have spent about alittle over 200 dollars and I found out today that several that I bought are fake, I'm honestly really hurt, I bought lot of UP and frozen because those are my fav movies and I got a few princesses with the quotes, and acouple hidden Mickeys and a cupcake hidden Mickey pack and found out from a cast member that all the hidden Mickeys are fake, 2 of my UPs Carl and dug are fake, and the cupcake pack are fake, I got them because each one meant something to me, each one had a meaning and ive spent so much money, I honestly had no idea they were fake, im new to Disney pins, I just had no idea, I'm really hurt and super shocked... Anyways, I just wanted to Thank You so much for taking the time to make this video and really go into detail with them, just wish I saw this before I ordered them on eBay...

      @@christinaPG86 I'm sorry that happened to you, my friend turned me onto pin trading. He had bought the big lot of fakes, told me to do the same thing ( we didnt know) I did research after I bought them only to realize they were all fake :(

      @@floridattractions1388 Thank you, I'm sorry that happened to you too, It just sucks but I guess that's life, it could be so much worse I guess right?! I'm thankful that I saw this video, I am just scared because I just bought some more from that same lady acouple days ago, and the payment already went through :( Praying they aren't anyways. Will they give me my money back you think?? She does live selling on Facebook and everything, she sells to like a million people that's why I didn't think that they could be fake... Ugh... Anyways, if you have a Facebook feel free to add me (Christina Blackwell). Thank you again for your video, hope you make more. :) Wish we could put that lady on blast lol.

    How will I know if my hop low Hidden Mikey pin Is faked?

    • @floridattractions1388
      @floridattractions1388  5 років тому

      Pinpics.com will let you know if it's a commonly faked pin, also check ebay and see how cheap they are, if there are a ton of that pin for sale for super cheap it may be heavily faked. Compare pics from pinpics.com (although there pictures do kinda suck with quality)

      @@floridattractions1388 So my research has narrowed down to, Ebay has about four real ones being sold for super expensive (90-100 dollars) and maybe two real ones being sold for 12 and 14 dollars. My pin is extremely rare (1 of 24 in existence that are real) but there are not a lot of counterfeit ones! It's incredible.

    Dont give Fake pins in general. I've just started looking into this problem and even though you're trading your fake pins for another fake pin you're still contributing to the never ending problem. Theres going to be people out there who are innocent enough to not know about fakes. They may trade a real for a fake. So they too are trading a pin thats real that they bought for a fake that they don't know is fake :(

    • @floridattractions1388
      @floridattractions1388  5 років тому +1

      I would love to not trade any fakes, if oy everyone would get on board. But I'm not going to tell my daughter she cant have a pin she likes because I know it's fake and refuse to give a real pin for it. I'm not contributing to any additional fake pins, simply swapping a fake for a fake. Number of fakes on pin board does not increase due to me

      I literally bought a pin off a cart in Magic Kingdom to trade it for what I thought was a Hidden Mickey right there. I was wrong. But at least I am educated now!
