Nice fix bit of a bummer about the sound, chiptune slaps. But you really should look for a different soldering tip. Those conical ones suck for soldering anything but two wires together imho, simply too little contact area and therefore too little heat transfer. Get a chisel, knife tip or a beveled one. Even if your iron is not the best, a better tip would help a lot with soldering and desoldering those caps.
Good fix Kip. You can remove the scratches with some poly watch. Will make the screen look brand new. Making me think i should do mine but … perhaps i need to drop it off to someone who now has experience recapping game gears! 😜
seemed to me that there was a non-legit company ripping off Atari back in the yester-year, and as such graphics were ****, and the controls were way worse than a broken arcade machine. so Off Road was a bad example for testing graphics on. Hard Drivin' was another that my brother knew I liked playing, but 10 minutes of playing sorry 2 minutes of playing the rest was tape loading time!! I had given up it went from "Hard Drivin'" to "impossible Drivin'"!!
Haha Kip gettin Stez to do a voice over….
He’s not the only fixer that does them..
Thanks Kip, probably just the jack plug faulty. See you in part 2 😀
