This is my home park. I live about 20 minutes from there. Monster is EPIC! The founders of Disney World helped design this park. And you can tell people don't usually film here in Des Moines by everyone giving you weird looks in the background. Lol
I lived in Iowa for a few years before moving to Ohio, this park was a big part of my childhood and I’m happy to see y’all having fun, sad to see dragon though but it’s also been over a decade lmao
You should come back to Iowa to not only experience Adventureland with Dragon Slayer and all those minor additions but also LOST ISLAND once Matugani is open!
Here an awesome update on Adventureland. There adding 9 new rides for 2022 and removing 3 old ones. Heres the list. Removing Lady luck, the falling star and that golden plane ride. The new rides are as mentioned on there facebook page. Plus they have a video showing all the ride types and where in the park there going. mainly kids rides and one all ages ride. Heres the list. See what you think. 1. speedway racers, 2. circus balloons, 3. lighthouse, 4. leap frogs, 5. bernies swing, 6. the revolution (aka tug boat ride) 7. the clipper 8. the war hawks and 9 the rockin rainbow(aka swing ride that also tilts).
Hagan Werner infinity coasters normally have lapbar trains right, but the iron shark is a lap bar euro fighter. And the smiler is a infinity with over the shoulder restraints. And I’d say Takabisha is more of an infinity type coaster but it’s a euro fighter. The system makes no sense to me ??

The coaster also features a magnetic rollback system on rides with lifthills, to allow for easier evacuation of riders in breakdown situations. The ride car can now roll backwards with the magnetic fins deployed and the lift motor in reverse." I assume this makes them more expensive.
It has trains instead of the single cars found on eurofighters. Granted, they have the same capacity and seating arrangement and look very similar, but you’ll notice that the train articulates (has a hinge and bends) between the first and second rows

Oh and Monster was the first Infinity 2 here in the States. And the Underground is more of a dark ride rather than a roller coaster. Yes, it is a roller coaster technically. But it's a dark ride. Also, the theme of this ride is not actually set to a coal mining, as most people believe. During the slavery era, Des Moines had a huge underground network to hide and free slaves. This is the point of Big Bob at the entrance. Underground, the ride, is themed to the underground tunnels that were once present here.
In the preshow, the animatronic refers to the underground as a coal mine, but never mentions slavery. And there’s mining equipment throughout the ride. That would be a very neat ride experience though if it were themed to the Underground Railroad though.

The ride constitutes as an Infinity Coaster because the lift hill has magnetic brake fins so it makes it easier for evacs. It also has different trains, and it has a higher capacity. Euro-Fighter trains look way different compared to Infinity trains.
Coaster Studios that’s cool! I’ve been wanting to do that with my friends, but all of them are afraid of roller coasters. I do have a suggestion. If you’re ever in New England again, come back to canobie lake park. I work there and we are nowhere near as busy as last year. The wooden coaster just got new trains too, so it flies through the layout giving you tons of air.

inspegaget I’m not sure what part of the video you see that in, but I used to work at adventureland, and the ride operators can use the landline phones at each ride to request soda cups filled with ice water from the supervisors. Dehydration is far more dangerous than holding a drink over waterproof control panels.
Covid cost me a trip here this year but at least I know its worth the trip

The Finnish Loop On Monster Gives Amazing Hangtime.
I went there last year and loved it. Monster was incredible, the atmosphere is great, and Phoenix was my 40th roller coaster credit.
Monster is one of my personal favorite coasters personally. It is in my top 5 and it is just such a fun coaster to laugh on.
