Short history lesson. Bang PD (aka Hitman Bang aka (real name) Bang Si Hyuk) used to be a very well known producer in the Kpop industry. The songs he produced always became 'hits' which is why he got the nickname 'Hitman Bang'. He didn't like the part of Kpop where artists were just given songs and concepts to perform. He thought artists, singers and musicians should have a hand in what they are putting out there. This is why he branched off to start his own company - Big Hit Entertainment. He had a couple of groups in the beginning but he wanted something different than what was already out there. He wanted to go in the Rap/Hiphop direction mostly due to the authenticity required by the genre. From 2010 - 2012 he recruited many trainees. Some left early on and some were let go. RM, Suga and Jhope were in the first batch of recruits. Halfway through the process he changed gears and decided to go the Kpop Idol direction but he still wanted the group to be Rap/Hiphop. But the change in direction meant they also needed people to sing and dance so they started looking for trainees with this potential. BTS debuted in June 2013. They had some successes and some failures so between 2014 and 2015 it became make or break for the company. They didn't have a lot of money and had already faced the possibility of bankruptcy if not for a few investors. Fortunately because of Bang's desire to let the members film YT logs and communicate with their fans they actually had a larger international fanbase than a local one. The Korean fanbase helped big time with this by adding English subs to a lot of the content that was created and helping to ship BTS albums and other content to the international fans. BTS and ARMY both know that it was the fans and their desire to share BTS content that really grew the group to the size that they are at now. But having a group that is worth sharing based on their authenticity and quality of talent and performance ability is just as important. There's a lot more to this but that is the short of it. Skip to 2021 - BigHit had become one of the wealthiest entertainment companies in South Korea but still did not have a lot of influence (it's a culture thing). BTS was their main IP which had people worried about what would happen to the company and all the people they employed if anything happened to the members of BTS such as military service or anything else. Bang PD created HYBE corporation. Big Hit is still under HYBE but HYBE as a corporation bought other music labels in Korea, America and South America. So while HYBE is a corporation Big Hit is a music label (like many others) under that corporation. If you want to get to know the members better please watch 'A GUIDE TO BTS THE BANGTAN 7 by Taylor Mari. It will give you a better look at each of the members and it is done in the order that they joined.
Most people who watch / listen to dynamite, butter or permission to dance don't seem to like the "poppiness" of the songs. What these folks don't realize is that BTS released these songs purely as feel good songs during lockdown. BTS did not write them (ed sheeran & such like), however they liked what they heard & performed them as they were. They sang in English so everyone could enjoy, not just ARMY. And Yes - the one singing in the basketball court Was Suga, Agust D, Min Yoongi! 👍👏
You got it, Dynamite *is* in Fortnite. 😄 Danish choreographer Nicky Andersen, who was 23 at the time, sold the rights to them following the MV. He was one of BTS's backup dancers at Wembley and was approached by the company and asked to submit a choreography influenced by MJ and with a 70s-80s vibe. I think he succeeded. 😄👍 (Proud fellow Dane here 😉) 💜
About Hybe. It used to be called Big Hit Entertainment so some of their older stuff still has the logo I believe. When BTS first started out Big Hit was a VERY small company and almost went bankrupt. It's thanks to BTS they are as big as they are now. I believe that BTS are also shareholders in the company still.

Long story short - BTS debuted with Big Hit Entertainment. At the time, Big Hit was a tiny company (only 10 or 11 people), and they were on the edge of bankruptcy. They needed BTS to do well, but they lacked the resources to promote BTS. BTS handled much of their own promotion by uploading pre-debut songs and vlogs of their training days on UA-cam and SoundCloud. These guys are truly rags to riches. Fast forward to about 2019. Big Hit is now a giant, huge company, with a huge problem. 97% of their revenue came from BTS. If BTS were to fail or decide not to renew their contracts, they would be f’ed. They were also too cash rich and needed desperately to invest into new revenue streams. Now, this part is interesting. Big Hit created Hybe. Hybe then purchased many other small labels, branched into publishing, video games, etc. Big Hit offloaded their administration and rebranded as Big Hit Music. The only artists in Big Hit are BTS, TXT and soloist Lee Hyun. Now, Hybe is a publicly traded company. But important to note, Big Hit Music is not. It is fully owned by Bang PD. Also, Big Hit’s relationship is both as a parent company to Hybe, but also a contractual relationship to handle promotion for Big Hit artists. BTS also all own substantial shares in Hybe and have voting rights on the board activities.
What's amazing is the number of (around thirty i think) performances they did of Dynamite and how they made them each different, some had elaborate sets (like the completely recreated grammy set) one had an amazing added dance break, no two were the same and they were promoting this song from August to December 2020. It could've gotten old but it didn't.

Dynamite was released during the pandemic and was my introduction to BTS. Funny story! I teach preschool, and I played a lot of Kidz Bop in my class to keep the energy level up and the music clean. (Especially during the pandemic.) Kidz Bop did Dynamite, so it always played in my class, but I never knew who the original artist was. One day, driving home from work, the original played in my car, and when I looked to see who the artist was, I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it was a K-pop group. So, when I got home, I looked this video up on UA-cam and proceeded to go down the rabbit hole. I haven’t looked back since. So, Dynamite has a special place in my heart because it was the song that drew me into BTS. 💜 Enjoy this ride on the BTS Express, Joe E!

Hybe is a publicly traded company founded by Bang PD, the man who originally created Big Hit and BTS. Hybe has a bunch of subsidiary labels, including Big Hit, as well as other divisions that are not music labels but support and create other content or related products. Each of the music labels operate independently of the others although they all fall under the Hybe umbrella. BH has a lot more autonomy than the other companies, which was how Bang PD set it up to protect his original artists. BTS, TXT, and Lee Hyun are the only three artists under Big Hit, but under the larger umbrella of Hybe, there are about 19 artists including them. Basically, Hybe is the company that BTS built. BH is technically a subsidiary type company, but is also more like a sibling to Hybe than its child, which where the other labels sit in structure. I have no idea if that makes sense.
Just to add some other knowledge as you learn about BTS, their military service may also affect South Korea’s economy as well as HYBE’s earnings: BTS, those 7 guys, have accounted for 1% of S. Korea’s GDP at around $5.7B and yes, as in billions, including tourism.
Love this song, so fun and full of energy. BTS made it to cheer up ARMY during the pandemic, I think, but, wow, great song for sure, brought smiles, dances and FUN!
Hybe is the umbrella under which BigHit Entertainment currently operates, along with other entertainment entities and artists in Korea, the U.S., and South America. BigHit is literally the "house that BTS built!" Just ten years ago, BTS was the only act the fledgling agency had. It nearly went bankrupt, but BTS' success was Big Hit's success, and that of then CEO Bang Si-Hyuk, who put BTS together. Hybe is one of the largest entertainment agencies in the world today. BTS members each hold stock in part of the agency,as well as working within Big Hit to produce music for television, movies, and other artists. Our guys do it all! They are all full members of the Korean Music Association, with hundreds of music writing credits between them, they all hold Bachelors degrees, and a couple have been working on their Masters. They're smart AND talented. Their work ethic shows in their performances. I could go on and on! Thank you for appreciating their talent and that of their staff. I look forward to more of your reactions! Borahae 💜
Musically this is not my flavour, but that's not to say I can't appreciate how tight they are and with their dancing too! I agree with you regarding the production of these videos! All of the ones I've seen are really well executed, it's like they're a case study for videography/cinematography. You enjoy your carbs Joe E, there's nothing wrong with a little extra warmth on the midriff and no one wants to cuddle a washboard!!!
Kim Namjoon( FlowerWork, Still life ) Kim Seokjin (Astronaut , Tonight) Min Yoongi (amygdala) Jung Hoseok (More) Park Jimin (Set me Free) Kim Taehyung (Rainy Days) Jeon Jungkook ( Standing Next To You Remix with Usher) I wonder about the angles and lighting. It favorite. It took me sometime to learn the difference between the guys. I’m still learning just how talented they all are.The way I have listed their names is Army’s BTS cheer The first time I heard them sing it was in Korean. Dynamite was the first all English song.Butter and Permission To Dance weren’t to far behind. You haven’t seen anything yet! Joe E. Thanks for sharing your experience and talent with us. I have the poster . I also have a Music DVDs.
In Korea entertainment companies cover everything from scouting training managing, a&r, production, promotion distribution… big hit entertainment (now hybe) was a v small entertainment company , just one of hundreds when BTS debuted in 2013. The subsidiary which is BTS’ home, big hit music, is one of a number of subs of hybe…
Of all the BTS reactors, you're definitely my favorite. It's awesome how you get the amount of work they put into their videos. A few suggestions: Save me. It's a one take wonder, but it's great. On Kinetic Manifesto, and DNA are others you really need to check out. Keep up the great work Bruh!
I strongly recommend BTS' 'ON' music video. And make sure to listen to the single song for each member. I'm sure you have a lot to watch, but BTS' live performance is even cooler. Tiny Desk Live and Mama 2019 BTS Live Version is definitely highly recommended.
They have a song called Save Me. The video is shot outside in one take. There’s also a video of the “making of” that video. You can react to both for us, if you’d like. 💜
Big Hit is the company that BTS is under and HYBE is the label that they are now on. Big Hit owns BTS, TXT and solo act. There are other groups under the HYBE label and they to have their in management companies.
Joe, i suggest you watch The Bangtan 7 by Taylor Mari. She's an Army that works with a video production company. She put over a year into making the video, She's on YT if you'd like to shout out to her. Anywho, it will get you up to speed on all the guys. It tells about the beginning, the middle , each guy and what they do and then up to 2022. Its 53 minutes long, you have to read as you go but most get so into it they say it flys by. Army know it backword and forward...don't speed it up or you'll miss something important cause its packed with info. Take it slow, stop and ask a question if need be, you know if your doing BTS an Army will always be around. It even tells you a little about us Army...😊 not a lot though 😂 As a Silver Army i really recommend you give it a look. It will answer all the questions you have and you can learn a few things.😊 Good luck 🫰💜💜💜
I'd be really curious to see what your reaction might be to some of their older videos, like their debut song, No More Dream, or N.O because they didn't have very much of a budget back then. You get to see what they can do without tons of money to throw at the MV budget. The company was actually on the verge of bankruptcy, to the point of using staff as extras and staff vehicles in a scene with a lot of vehicles in their Run MV. Oh, and Run can get a little tricky. There's Run, the MV that I'm talking about, Run! BTS, their variety show, and BTS Run, which is a newer song that was just released last year and only has a dance practice. The choreo is absolutely stunning, too.
Appreciate you trying to learn their names; it takes time! You had SUGA/Agust D right off the bat! They released this song at the height of the lockdown to help lift spirits all around the world, and it worked. t's not my fave BTS song or mv, but I love the colors and vibe. I agree with some others that have suggested you watch the Taylor's Guide. It's long, but please don't shorten it or skip. Pause when you need to be able to read, rewind if you missed something. I promise, we will stay for all of it! ua-cam.com/video/huV_yIdxZPY/v-deo.htmlsi=x8JDio_PefRWGM05 Or, for other music video's, I will recommend ON: Kinetic Manifest Film and Save Me. Thanks for watching!
If you check out ON also check out the official MV as well. It's very cinematic and I think you (Joe E) would definitely appreciate the locations and some of the shots. It's pretty gorgeous, in a different way than Blood, Sweat, & Tears (BS&T)

Also, I remember another reactor talking about this video being filmed with "old" style static cameras or static shots or something like that compared to how music videos are shot today...
3:55 that record store reminds me of the movie empire records with Liv It is a replica of a record store I saw in Berkeley not an actual but so look alike.
Since you're still learning it's HYBE label with a B not a P. Not hype but HY(B)E. You got Jungkook (JK) right, you got Suga aka AgustD right.. but you got RM wrong. You were thinking it was Jimin. RM is the "tall rapper dude", although he's not really all that tall but he is one of the taller ones in the group. Jimin was the one holding the Dynamite album cover and also the one with the two earrings in the solo shot. V was the one next to the ice cream truck.
@@joeesparks7 yep you're improving. Trust me it takes everybody a little while to really get their faces and or voices down since you can't rely on their fits or their hair color or cut. Lmao And while I'm at it I hope you react to the remix of Standing next to you with Usher. It's an official performance video but I think you will be in love with the videography.
Ive probably watched Dynamite video at least 1000 times. I think half of that was in the first 24 hours! Dynamite was my first “come back” drop after becoming ARMY. I think I’ve watched Butter and Daechwita about as much lol!
2:20 as you are a videographer by trade, I urge you to check black and white MJ’s intro. With the loud guitar 🎸 player and the knock on the door That room where JK is standing is a replica of this room with Macaulay Culkin. Why Macaulay because at that time, he was friend with MJ or MJ picks him for the video As you know homages Easter eggs references runs deep A lot of the posters are icons too. That video has been made to appeal to American /MTV from the 90´s maybe The sneakers The hip hop kick dance move Because it was Rona’s era BTS has made at least 30 something versions of that song ! Everything produced in-house Idols industry always picks a theme. Did you see j-hope and j-cole ?😊 it is another video
Big Hit is BTS label and always has been. Hybe is the corporation they formed in 2021 because Big Hit had grown from a tiny, indie label to massive proportions and was very cash rich and needed to diversify because all of their money came from BTS. Hybe is a legal entity that does things like copyright protection, investment, legal battles, etc. Ostensibly they are a "parent company" to the smaller labels under them, including Big Hit, but they mostly didn't form any of those labels, they were acquired. However, Hybe is 100% the house that BTS built, and most of their revenue still comes from BTS. All BTS members own significant stock in Hybe and have voting rights on the board. PD Bang, the founder of Big Hit, is still Chairman of the Board of Hybe, still runs Big Hit, and Big Hit was essentially walled off from corporate control by Hybe. Big Hit still only represents BTS, their one senior artist Lee Hyun, and now their one junior group TXT. The smaller labels under the grape cluster structure of the Hybe umbrella all have their own management, style and way of doing things and their own artists. Some are S Korean labels, and some are from other countries. Hybe acquired some western labels and artists as well, including Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber's label Ithica Holdings. How much or how little Hybe gets involved with the smaller labels depends on their financials and how much they support Hybe VS how much Hybe needs to support them, but the artists on all the labels are now essentially part of one "family" of labels, like all extended cousins.
Thank you for reacting to BTS. I love their videos. I'd love to see you react to DOPE, and DNA next. As for other amazing videos to check out, definitely check out Blackpink's DDU-DU DDU-DU, and PINK VENOM, Stray Kids GOD'S MENU, THUNDEROUS, and MANIAC. And one of the best videos I've seen is Seventeen's HOT. Really fantastic. Thank you for your reactions! I love a videographer's perspective on these.
basically hybe was created from bighit to do all their expansion business stuff, now hybe is an umbrella for non music stuff and a bunch of other companies they've obtained as well which is why groups like seventeen are under hybe; and bighit is like kinda off to the side on their own but still part of hybe but not under hybe like everything else cos it's the original company

Ok thank you... i appreciate the Info!
Just to add some other knowledge as you learn about BTS, their military service may also affect South Korea’s economy as well as HYBE’s earnings: BTS, those 7 guys, have accounted for 1% of S. Korea’s GDP at around $5.7B and yes, as in billions, including tourism.
Pentatonix did a great cover of this song! Thanks for your great reaction!
You have to watch live. House of Cards. No MV. My favorite. Vocal line
.
That's probably my favorite too 💜💜💜💜
They get 100 million views in the first 24 hours 😊😊😊
Def understand...but I appreciate you taking a peek with me!
Kim Namjoon( FlowerWork, Still life )
Kim Seokjin (Astronaut , Tonight)
Min Yoongi (amygdala)
Jung Hoseok (More)
Park Jimin (Set me Free)
Kim Taehyung (Rainy Days)
Jeon Jungkook ( Standing Next To You Remix with Usher) I wonder about the angles and lighting.
Dynamite was their first all English song .
Big hit music company and Hybe labels. They own shares in both.
The first one you thought was Jimin in the record store was RM, Namjoon💜 and you got Agust D\Suga correct🥳 thank you for this reaction
A few suggestions:
Save me. It's a one take wonder, but it's great. On Kinetic Manifesto, and DNA are others you really need to check out. Keep up the great work Bruh!
Very good questions as always! Time to watch their history I think. :) it is time.
Thank you
Joe, i suggest you watch The Bangtan 7 by Taylor Mari.
It will answer all the questions you have and you can learn a few things.😊
Good luck 🫰💜💜💜
Thank you, RollTide👊🏽 I really do appreciate all the help in the comments!
I wonder what this mv would have looked like had they been able to film it outside like they planned. Thanks as always for educating us.
I promise, we will stay for all of it! ua-cam.com/video/huV_yIdxZPY/v-deo.htmlsi=x8JDio_PefRWGM05
Or, for other music video's, I will recommend ON: Kinetic Manifest Film and Save Me. Thanks for watching!
If you check out ON also check out the official MV as well. It's very cinematic and I think you (Joe E) would definitely appreciate the locations and some of the shots. It's pretty gorgeous, in a different way than Blood, Sweat, & Tears (BS&T)
@@xXxkiaraXx Yes, I forget about that one!
@@TreeTree6501 the Kineto Manifesto is my go to for ON as well, love the choreo ones. But those visuals in the offial MV are gorgeous! And Save Me is an all time favorite, it was my first come back for them and really just my style regardless.
Three years ago, this song sounded from every computer all over the world: in transport, in shopping centers, in clubs, everywhere. Therefore, it is not surprising that you are f
V of BTS has artistic MVs for many of his solo songs.
I recommend checking SLOW DANCING, SINGULARITY and RAINY DAYS
Also, I remember another reactor talking about this video being filmed with "old" style static cameras or static shots or something like that compared to how music videos are shot today...
3:55 that record store reminds me of the movie empire records with Liv
It is a replica of a record store I saw in Berkeley not an actual but so look alike.
Please watch BTS SAVE ME! It's a one-shot take - the making of it is cool, too. Love your reactions!!
So your saying Im at least improving LOL...thank you...without yall i would be lost!
@@joeesparks7 yep you're improving. Trust me it takes everybody a little while to really get their faces and or voices down since you can't rely on their fits or their hair color or cut. Lmao
And while I'm at it I hope you react to the remix of Standing next to you with Usher.
👍👍Awesome!! 🖖❤
Agreed!
I've said it before, I'll say it again. I LOVE the education I get watching your videos!
BTS is singed to Big Hit label which is a part of Hybe.
Ok bet ...thank you!
Il faut absolument apprendre les noms des chanteurs 😉 RM, Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, V, Jungkook, Suga ❤❤❤
Love it so much
So Good!
12:21 there is a boracity magazine video essay explanation. About HYBE
If one day you go that deep 😂
2:20 as you are a videographer by trade, I urge you to check black and white MJ’s intro.
With the loud guitar 🎸 player and the knock on the door
That room where JK is standing is a replica of this room with Macaulay Culkin.
Why Macaulay because at that time, he was friend with MJ or MJ picks him for the video
As you know homages Easter eggs references runs deep
A lot of the posters are icons too.
That video has been made to appeal to American /MTV from the 90´s maybe
The sneakers
The hip hop kick dance move
Because it was Rona’s era
BTS has made at least 30 something versions of that song !
Everything produced in-house
Idols industry always picks a theme.
You have to check their coreographies mv´s!!!!!
yes that was Suga
No it’s Suga!
You should react to DYNAMITE ( side B) they are more goofy..(less serious) in the video.
basically hybe was created from bighit to do all their expansion business stuff, now hybe is an umbrella for non music stuff and a bunch of other companies they've obtained as well which is why groups like seventeen are under hybe; and bighit is like kinda off to the side on their own but still part of hybe but not under hybe like everything else cos it's the original company
Carbs!!!! Hahahaha
A woman called Taylor made a video explain BTS and its roots. You can react about her video that presents the members, their stories and so on! Please!!!!!
We don't need an arrow to know to look at Jimin ☺️
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I don’t over watch videos and I don’t mind watching reactions about them.
It’s RM or Kim Namjoon!
