    I 100% agree with the appreciative part😅 Yoruba people generally not only their men are very appreciative or rather greet a lot. They will tell you welldone for everything and anything like welldone for sitting, for standing for going to the market, for sleeping etc 😅 that how “eku joko” (hope I got it right) got sticker in my head from Lagos😃😃 Nice one 👍

      @TheofficialChi I am Igbo,Imo state precisely, I live in New Jersey USA, u just opened my eyes more about the Yoruba men,I have one Yoruba guy now in same County with me,talking about marriage, but honestly I just blocked him yesterday bcos I am getting tired of him not telling me how beautiful I look,or asking me my brother's phone number and other things anyway, he has alots of Female friends, u re right but I am d very jealous type,can't. Am taking a break to see if he is gonna go out of his way to come look 4 me,even after blocking him,then I will tell him,what d problem is,bcos am already falling out of love with all his attitude, I met him last yr,when I wanted to buy car from him online but finally meet dis yr. If not 💯%, you are 95% correct. I'm a Yoruba man married to an Abia woman, about cooking my wife is a genius but she doesn't eat locust bean like I used to,occasionally, she allows me to cook my veggies with enough locust beans(iru) and eat it alone. My in-laws from Ohafia,pH,both home and abroad are wonderful people but I'm always trying to be extra ordinary careful like what you said earlier. Thank God for my wife, she understands

    Solid foods are called swallows but are not meant to be swallowed during eating ,according to biological science the chewing before swallowing is the proper way of nutrition cause the digestion of starch takes place in the mouth . Biological enzymes in the mouth saliva acts on the solid starch and convert it to glucose before it goes down to the stomach so the Yorubas are doing it the right way by chewing

    The respect part is spot on accurately.
    Appreciating part is 100% we appreciate with words, action and money it’s our way.
    Verbal Love expression is individual oh many of us that I know are good with sweet words, if not how do we woe ladies. It reflects in our songs and praising God but not everyone would have such skills
    Cooking skills true, more can not but it’s up bringing
    Smiles swallow is not swallow oh truly we love varieties of swallow but we do not shew it.
    Locust beans that’s true for my parents but my wife doesn’t put in my food and am fine, she’s not Yoruba.
    Yes eating beans alone is strange truly

    Lastly, what Yoruba men doesn't like from their wife is to switch or change or be calling their children names different from the one they named their children. If I named my child Ayomide, I want my wife to call him Ayomide and be known as Ayomide by everyone. Do not allow the name you gave the child overshadow the name the Yoruba husband gave the child.
    THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT

    Eat just beans ke? Can never happen! The appreciative part is a Yoruba thing...💯
    We will thank you for last year or for ten years ago if we didn't see you after the last time you did us a favour or did something we appreciate...that's when you hear people say 'e se ojo' (thank you for the last time). So that you know, we love it when people appreciate what we do and say thank you the next day or when next you meet or speak. We Yorubas are the best 'greeters' in the world😉🤣
    We have a greeting for every activity! A typical Yoruba woman/man would greet you for eating, sleeping (e ku oju orun), dancing (e ku ijo), and playing (e ku ere). Name it, we have a greeting for it, even for idleness and bathing😁😁

    It will be better for the two strong tribes to iron out their differences and settle it and make peace.
    Why the Yorubas are angry with Igbos is that the Yoruba feels the Igbos are not appreciating their spirits of accommodation and the sacrifices they made for them during the war and aftermath of the war instead they want to blame them for the loss they had because of the war but the fact is, that Yoruba did not caused the war or the losses they had because of the war.

    • @chukwukakennedy
      @chukwukakennedy 2 місяці тому +1

      Accommodation my foot,the Yorubas that are living in the UK and Brazil in great numbers,how many times have their host countries abused and chased them away bc they're living there?
      How can you say that you accomodate people who wanted to opt out of the forced marriage by our colonial slave masters? Igbos lost the war on two accounts,one the influence of our slave masters the United Kingdom and their allies and secondly the economic blockade orchestrated by Awolowo where igbos were not allowed to have access to food
      Igbos developed their own ammunitions they used to fight the war by themselves,that's the western world especially the UK 🇬🇧 and their allies hate the igbos with passion even till eternity

    • @originallandlord2026
      @originallandlord2026 2 місяці тому

      The difference is in the culture - Yorubas are very respectful and appreciative. Even when the Yoruba stranger is more Prosperous than the host, the Yoruba will still behave in humble and submissive manner but in the same situation, the Igbo man easily gets carried away, and forgets he is only being accommodated in a strange land. Yorubas love and respect Igbos, especially Igbo Women 😅

    • @crownedking2567
      @crownedking2567 2 місяці тому

      @@originallandlord2026 No, Yoruba is not humble or submissive to Igbo but regards them as a fellow compatriots and likewise the Igbos regards the Yorubas as fellow compatriots., and no tribe is more prosperous than the other. Stop saying this kind of talk.

    The way Nigeria is going, it is advisable to marry from your own ethnic, because very soon, the products of marriage from other ethnic would not be allowed to hold any political position in Yoruba land. This is the truth of what will happen in the nearest future. Use Lagos state as an example.

    We actually respect in-laws o, infact in Yoruba folklore an in-law is more of a deity(oro l’ana) so u would rather avoid them so you don’t make any error or mistake or disrespect that would offend them
    Lastly you have to eat beans with something na😂😂

    Thanks, our wife. may Almighty God bless your union. I really enjoyed your submissions and everything you said is inch perfect except on the point that Yoruba men kept female friends than male friends. I beg to disagree on this. Infact i should simply tell you that's not true. An average Yoruba man enjoys the company of his male friends any day any time. Anything different from this omo open your eyes o. That is not say it is a taboo to relate with female friends, but this is usually few. Cousins, maybe. Exes, i dont subscribe to that.

    Lol. "Yoruba men being on the fence".
    Definitely! Probably the most diplomatic tribe in Nigeria.
    Even reading history about how they interacted with the White colonial officers in 1800s, you will already see the constant diplomacy, even though they did not the whites to dominate them.
