Absolutely right man. 99% of the people shitting on this car haven’t even seen one in real life. Hating this car just because it doesn’t look to their taste. I was sure of one thing , bmw might mess up the design but they never mess up their driving dynamics !
I feel bad for the G90. It had so many boxes to tick in order to be sold. Boxes for consumers and boxes for regulators. It’s a great car. BMW is a business first and foremost and this is a damn good job given the situation ICE cars are facing.
Finally someone saying how it really is. Im working at BMW in Bavaria and let me tell you, most employees would do a different company strategy (bigger Motors, better Exhaust...) but there is just to much Regulations from the EU. It has gotten so bad there are specific Departments only dealing with EU Regulations like WTF 😂

The only reason for all those regulations on ICE and EV is just because Europe is way more eco friendly than the rest of the world. They doesn’t care what the Us and china does with their engines etc. The cars manufacturers in Europe are really good at making engine regardless of the type of energy they used .

All of you need to understand that bmw didn't put that much weight on m5 because they wanted , it's because of new gov. Policies regarding pollution and electrifying and that is why they have to do it and if they wouldn't have done it then it was not possible to make a complete combustion engine. Therefore they had to make it hybrid and add batteries which made it so heavy.
Honestly who cares? All that talk about the weight is well and good but the M5 was never a light or nimble car. The LOOKS are what kills this thing for most people. This thing is just such a soulless, wannabe futurist heap of garbage
@@melvinjo1596 its a different design language. F90 is a beautiful car in every aspect, the G90 in person looks menacing and fat. Takes time to get used to it, just like the G82, which i still dislike. G80 is fine, but people hated on that one too.

It's either they downsize it to I6, or this V8 with the hybrid system. It's not that hard of a choice tbh. The M5 is a family saloon at its core, more mass shouldn't be that much of a faff.

This is a great review!...The new m5 is honestly a beast and not as bad as some haters try to paint it....once you see it physically and test drive it then you’ll understand that BMW did their best to handle the extra weight from the hybrid system,,and it looks beautiful too💯
Even if the car feels light while driving. The tires still are fighting with the 2500 kg. Car manufacturers have to make a 180 degree turn and make light cars again. Fuck that hybrid stuff. If your car only weights 1700 kg (for an M5 for example) you dont need 800 or something hp.
They have to make hybrids or they will go bankrupt for paying emission fines to EU for producing only gasoline cars which produce a lot of CO2. They are forced to hybrid..
Seriously? What about cheap plastic on the door covers, no soft close for the doors and even no comfort entry on the rear doors. I mean it is not even possible to compare it with F90 having all that obvious options, not even saying that F90 even faster. How could it be the best ? Ridiculous.
As you mentioned about needing to warm up the elecric motor. Its more to do with the battery, especially in cold weather. The liquids in the battery can get cold causing the battery not to work or respond properly. So, my guess is that the petro engine warms up the electric motor/battery so it functions as intended (in cold weather?)
Nope. People have already tested it and i can no longer hide its insane weight. It reportedly feel very nose heavy and sloppy. Despite all that it is just hella ugly, has no soul and breaks every single BMW design tradition just to look futuristic.

It is absolutely heavy, but its def just a trend to hate on every new german performance car, for obvious reasons. Hell, people complained about the new 992.2 Gt3 Rs because its too 'similar' to the last one. Just propaganda. No one hates on full EVs that weigh close to this at all.

@4:23 you can see the rear wheels hopping for traction creating that bouncing effect and this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this car do it, in the long run that won’t be good for rear diff and drive lines.. there’s so much you can do with a heavy car but this car will be very limited if you want longevity.

If Porsche claims the 911 T does 0-100 in 2.8 seconds, it will do 2.8 seconds in the worst case, and 2.6-2.7 mostly. American cars for example claim 2.6, but do 2.8 in the very best exceptional case.
I quite like the look of the new 5 series, the only thing I don’t like looks wise is how the boot lid slopes down, would have looked better if that was more leveled (in my opinion), however there is an easy fix for it, simple get the Touring instead. However I find it disappointing that they have removed the shopping hatch from the Touring of the new 5 series. I haven’t driven the new 5 series or the new M5 or any M5, but I think I prefer the G90 interior and most reviews I have seen seems to state that it drives/feels quite similar to the F90 M5.. So the thing I’m kind of struggling with is, why would I get the new M5 over a used F90? But what do I know as a young Swedish lad.
I sat in this exact G90 but I can't find myself comfortable with it. You can call me old fashioned, but I have my reasons.. And I was really keen on doing so because everybody keeps telling "oh you need to see it in real life you can't judge from your phone" - well it was exactly what I expected. For me the M3 xDrive is the new M5. This goes sort of to the direction in what AMG did with the C63, just instead with the engine, with everything else.
Imagine if BMW made it with 1900 kg instead of 2450, I think it would be Nürburgring track weapon. It has so much potential, but the only bad thing is that it's really heavy.

I really like the car, it looks good and come on guys, they safed the V8. I’m sure if EU regulations would allow it, there would be no hybrid system. It’s all about Fleet-Consumption, so due to the latest restrictions it’s a brilliant car. I’ve not driven it (I’m not a BMW guy), but I truly think it drives phenomenal. Everybody’s just complaining about the weight of the car and I don’t get it. I’m driving a 6,4 Liter Challenger. This car is also heavy as a tank but IDGAF. It drives smooth, it has enough power for me and it sounds amazing. The average driver is not into the last few seconds going on the Nurburgring. And for all that people is just a great, brand new car that still offers a V8. Instead of just bashing the brands be thankful for car like that. Even the former V8 Dinosaurs of Cars like a Dodge are nowadays electric BS nobody wants. Enjoy it as long as we can. The brand we all love may be different- but we’re all petrolheads. Stay together - not against each other 🤝🏻
the only thing I am disgusted is missing the Hofmeister-Knick!! The rest of the car is acutally ok, the design needs to follow the trend, but that side line..
From a feel perspective the IX m60 will feel quicker.. from a stat perspective the m8 competition or M5 CS should beat this without an problem..very nice saloon
I have the f90 have owned 4 m5s. Drove this 2 weeks ago. It's too big let's see what they can do with the cs and comp models. This one is just to fat to be a real m5
Ya'll are not ready for the next M5 that will likely be a quad motor 4WD EV with north of 1500hp. BMW teasing that setup in recent videos from the M Division. Centralized brain controlling the power at all 4 motors, one motor on each wheel. It's going to be insane. No idea which tires are tasked with putting all that power to the ground. The next gen M cars are going to dominate.
I thrust him but this time i suspect opinion might have been influenced a little bit because there's NO WAY the M5 drives better than an M3 in the corners.
I don't think he's been paid but I think he's playing a smart move. The new M5 has gotten a load of bad press I think Aziz is trying to buy some good faith with BMW by saying good things so they give him access to cars for reviews. Just my opinion!

I consider myself a huge automotive enthusiast ever since early childhood but we are reaching a point where we, humans as species, look utterly ridiculous in our 2.5 tonned boxes of metal on wheels that are so complex that if one basic thing goes wrong insurance will write it off as the bill would exceed the depreciated value of it. What we are doing is unsustainable on so many levels, slapping a hybrid battery pack on such a car absolutely does not move the needle in the right direction. If anything it poses a higher requirement for rare materials that would utterly destroy the mining areas. Is it even ethical to continue promoting these things?

Nice review of the fat boy 🎉 it's still heavy and it will stress a lot more parts suspension,tires etc. in common sense. Of course some people like heavy cars and some lighter cars like me. Test drive in winter conditions will tell how the weight effects on driving.
I just hope XHP can tune the transmission to shift right. Cause that's my one point of contention. Otherwise this is a real M5: a midsized daily autobahn cruise missile to make appointments with at 300kmh.

Still prefer m5 e39 or e60 over this. This is far from what “M” stands for. It stands for lightweight and high performance cars with sharp handling, not rolls royce with BMW plastics on it. Even M5 as a concept is far from “Motosport” meaning but hey they need to counter luxury performance of AMG somehow. Still waste of development money for BMW imo, they should have just stick with ICE lighter car and that is it. This truck of a car is not going to have any less fuel consuption (CO emissions) compared to regural previous generations once the batery goes kapput.
Of course a E39 M5 is better for the enthusiast, since its the best sedan ever made. But we are not getting these times back. Cars are getting much faster, much heavier, much less exciting. Its emission regulations. So you can 'enjoy' your autonomous Tesla, Xiaiomiomi or Wangtanglang in the future, they have to eliminate enthusiast cars.
This will not have the same effect of the E60 after some years for three very simple things. It doesnt have an outstanding engine like the E60, the design its too boxy and straight and the enormous grille just destroys the front end

People actually drift tanks (in the middle east). This car is nothing in terms of weight, but it does hurt the performance obviously. I like this M5.

@4:23 you can see the rear wheels hopping for traction creating that bouncing effect and this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this car do it, in the long run that won’t be good for rear diff and drive lines.. there’s so much you can do with a heavy car but this car will be very limited if you want longevity.
Thats the problem with Hybrid cars in any case. It will be terrible in keeping it running.

If Porsche claims the 911 T does 0-100 in 2.8 seconds, it will do 2.8 seconds in the worst case, and 2.6-2.7 mostly. American cars for example claim 2.6, but do 2.8 in the very best exceptional case.

I quite like the look of the new 5 series, the only thing I don’t like looks wise is how the boot lid slopes down, would have looked better if that was more leveled (in my opinion), however there is an easy fix for it, simple get the Touring instead.
However I find it disappointing that they have removed the shopping hatch from the Touring of the new 5 series.
I haven’t driven the new 5 series or the new M5 or any M5, but I think I prefer the G90 interior and most reviews I have seen seems to state that it drives/feels quite similar to the F90 M5..
So the thing I’m kind of struggling with is, why would I get the new M5 over a used F90?
But what do I know as a young Swedish lad.
I sat in this exact G90 but I can't find myself comfortable with it. You can call me old fashioned, but I have my reasons..
And I was really keen on doing so because everybody keeps telling "oh you need to see it in real life you can't judge from your phone" - well it was exactly what I expected.
For me the M3 xDrive is the new M5. This goes sort of to the direction in what AMG did with the C63, just instead with the engine, with everything else.
The M3 as an example is way too small for me (my perspective) and I love the new M5 and its engine

I’m sure if EU regulations would allow it, there would be no hybrid system. It’s all about Fleet-Consumption, so due to the latest restrictions it’s a brilliant car. I’ve not driven it (I’m not a BMW guy), but I truly think it drives phenomenal.
Everybody’s just complaining about the weight of the car and I don’t get it. I’m driving a 6,4 Liter Challenger. This car is also heavy as a tank but IDGAF. It drives smooth, it has enough power for me and it sounds amazing.
The average driver is not into the last few seconds going on the Nurburgring. And for all that people is just a great, brand new car that still offers a V8.
Instead of just bashing the brands be thankful for car like that.
Even the former V8 Dinosaurs of Cars like a Dodge are nowadays electric BS nobody wants.
Enjoy it as long as we can.

I have the f90 have owned 4 m5s. Drove this 2 weeks ago. It's too big let's see what they can do with the cs and comp models. This one is just to fat to be a real m5

Ya'll are not ready for the next M5 that will likely be a quad motor 4WD EV with north of 1500hp. BMW teasing that setup in recent videos from the M Division. Centralized brain controlling the power at all 4 motors, one motor on each wheel. It's going to be insane. No idea which tires are tasked with putting all that power to the ground.
The next gen M cars are going to dominate.

I consider myself a huge automotive enthusiast ever since early childhood but we are reaching a point where we, humans as species, look utterly ridiculous in our 2.5 tonned boxes of metal on wheels that are so complex that if one basic thing goes wrong insurance will write it off as the bill would exceed the depreciated value of it. What we are doing is unsustainable on so many levels, slapping a hybrid battery pack on such a car absolutely does not move the needle in the right direction. If anything it poses a higher requirement for rare materials that would utterly destroy the mining areas. Is it even ethical to continue promoting these things?

Nice review of the fat boy 🎉 it's still heavy and it will stress a lot more parts suspension,tires etc. in common sense. Of course some people like heavy cars and some lighter cars like me. Test drive in winter conditions will tell how the weight effects on driving.

or e60 over this. This is far from what “M” stands for. It stands for lightweight and high performance cars with sharp handling, not rolls royce with BMW plastics on it. Even M5 as a concept is far from “Motosport” meaning but hey they need to counter luxury performance of AMG somehow. Still waste of development money for BMW imo, they should have just stick with ICE lighter car and that is it. This truck of a car is not going to have any less fuel consuption (CO emissions) compared to regural previous generations once the batery goes kapput.
Of course a E39 M5 is better for the enthusiast, since its the best sedan ever made. But we are not getting these times back. Cars are getting much faster, much heavier, much less exciting. Its emission regulations.
So you can 'enjoy' your autonomous Tesla, Xiaiomiomi or Wangtanglang in the future, they have to eliminate enthusiast cars.

This will not have the same effect of the E60 after some years for three very simple things. It doesnt have an outstanding engine like the E60, the design its too boxy and straight and the enormous grille just destroys the front end
The E60 is still not great looking, but it aged good, and the V10 made it legendary
