Hi Margret, nice video I'd be very cautious about not mentioning the very stark difference between Mid Coast and DownEast Maine especially when it comes to retirees.I've lived here for 7 years researched the area for nearly a decade before moving and thought I had a clear understanding of the pros and cons. I didn't and can't begin to tell you about the crisis( as in poor quality and availability of average care- was told early on never have surgery in DownEast ME) surrounding health care in DownEast Maine, ambulance service availability, poor condition of roads, availability honest & legitimate contractors meaning those with workman's compensation insurance, people who as you mentioned once in one of your videos as mean or mean spirited many are overly envious & angry at you for where you live... I could go on. But truly I accept those risks to live here on a deep water lot facing the North Atlantic and the peace exuded here by the omnipotent creations of Almighty God puts puts all my fears to rest. My property has doubled in value since I bought in 2016.
Hey Mark, thank you for sharing your experience. That is exactly why we created this channel. We want to be transparent about what it's like to live in Southern Maine. Thank you for watching!
As a Mainer by birth, I have watched the State go from conservative values to socialism. The State is extremely expensive to live in. Housing costs, food costs are constantly on the rise. Maine has embraced some sanctuary cities like Lewiston, Portland and others. Maine has lost its vision for family values, law and order and middle of the road politics to embrace a far left agenda. No amount of scenic beauty can compensate for the California type trampling of civil rights and the US Constitution. No plans on visiting or relocating there soon even though most of my relatives continue to live there. Once proud to be from Maine but no longer so.
I have to add that applies mostly to southern Maine, If you travel north of Lewiston and east of Bath politics get a lot more conservative and traditional for Maine. For example, the current sitting governor was voted in primarily from the 2 southern most, and most populated counties, If you excluded them the Republican candidate would have won.

To each their own...thank you for tuning in and sharing your opinions and experiences.
That makes some of us want to move there even more. Thanks for the heads up!
