Nice video. Thanks for posting. I just did this job on my 2014 ES350. Some comments and tips - you do not need to remove the air cleaner assemble and certainly do not need to remove the intake manifold. The removal of the wiper arms, plastic cover over the wiper motor and the metal pan under the wiper motor is mandatory. The metal bracket on the rear of the Intake Manifold (IM) is 12mm and is best removed with a ratcheting wrench - socket wrench is just too tight a fit. Once the bracket is removed, the most difficult part of the job is disconnecting all of the electrical connectors along the wiring loom on the back of the IM. This is mandatory to gain access to the coil packs and plugs. There are 7 connectors that must be disconnected. The three coil pack plugs require a little screw driver (LSD) to pry up the catch - practice on one of the front connectors that are easy to get to. There are also four other connectors along that loom that need to be disconnected as well to free up the loom for movement. Tip - in order to get a good look at all of the connectors on this loom and removing the coil packs and plugs, I placed a moving blanket over the engine and laid my body on top of the engine - relatively flat and nothing to break after removing the engine cover. I also used a good LED light (Braun from Harbor Freight). Lay on top of the engine and get to all the electrical connectors/coil pack bolts and spark plugs. I did this job taking my time in about 2.5 hours. I could cut that in half now that I have done the job. Another tip - there will be an accumulation of dirt and sand on top of the engine - especially up front. Use a shop vac and brush and compressed air to clean/blow away dirt and sand BEFORE removing any coil packs/plugs. I also replaced the PCV valve and air filter while I was at it. You need a good magnetic flex spark plug socket/extension like a Gear Wrench 3929D 5/8" that is 11" overall length. Genuine Lexus/Toyota parts only - Part #'s Coil Packs (6 of them) 90919-A2007; Spark Plugs (6 of them) 90919-01247; PCV valve 12204-31120
How difficult are the 4 other rear connectors on back plugs? DIdn't run into that with my old Rav4 v6 but now have a 13 ES350...but for that job I didn't remove the wipers just the intake manifold. This way seems to give more access to the back.
Agreed. The only way to see what you're doing and not do the rear plus by "feel" is to remove those items. Probably unlikely that you'd be able to get the coils out either. Very nice video!
Nice job, not an easy one! The design engineers weren't thinking ease of maintenance, they often don't. I bet some unscrupulous repair shops are only changing the front plugs.
Good video job definitely can be done without removing plenum atleast for the ES 350 2013...bracket wasn't difficult just need a 12 mm ratcheting wrench for bottom bolt. Hardest part is really that last furthest coil In back all the wiring over the coil...getting coil out Is tight. Also there when putting wider motor back it fits in a slot otherwise wipers will jam. Under 3 hours taking time.
Great video, thanks for posting it. I had a problem removing the bracket on the back covering the first coil, (2- 12mm bolts) what kind of wrench did you use?
Hi thanks for your video. I just did this but broke one of the two plastic spouts that connect the vacuum lines to the air hose. Any tips on how to fix it?
With a little patience I fixed mine with a fountain pen that has a copper tube for the ink and cut it to fit in the spout hole might need a small dill bit, and used epoxies to keep it in place, little copper ink tube does the trick. and cost very little
@@54576904 Still would do the fluid, it doesn't last forever. If your keeping the car till 150k miles or less I guess don't bother with it. If you want to keep for longer I would do the fluid.
I will never ever attempt all that work and surely won't pay someone to do all that work. I'm just going to change my three front spark plugs at 200,000 miles and see what happens down the road

Is it worth doing the job?

I would recommend to remove one coil and spark plug at time, to avoid to enter any debris in the other wholes. Avoid also to mix up the coils.
This vid was very helpful. Three hour job for me.
I bet taking wiper off really makes doing those hidden bracket bolts way easier. Good video...might be one of the best complete video for this job.

Great job! Yes replacing one at a time would protect debris from falling in. Well done! Thank you
