I am not a young stitcher. I was thrilled when DMC came out with the cardboard bobbins and holders. I have 4 boxes of the thread and am fine with it. I have my over dyed threads hanging on a decorative clothes hanger on rings. That works out well for me. I figure after stitching for 43 years with no problems, it works. But I know for most it is not a done thing. When I started stitching, there were few choices in aida or linen and over dyed threads didn't exist. Yep...I am vintage. 😃 I used to drive to a little cross stitch shop in Navarre Ohio each Saturday and loose myself among the charts. Now I live where there is only really one needlework shop and it is in the north of the country. When we are at our woodland cottage, it is near enough to pop in. I am doing my first Christmas workshop there in July. What a joy to have spent years loving to stitch!
By the way, I have that Cranberry Christmas chart too. I needed to get it because my cottage in the woods is named Cranberry Cottage. 😃

I am not a young Stitcher either ;) I do have drawer storage and bobbins, but thread drops are so much easier to take threads from, that's why I am really contemplating slowly switching over. I do have all my fancy floss on rings as well, I leave them on the drops they come on. Sounds like you live in a beautiful place!!

Chris, storing floss on bobbins is much easier to store, but I hated how the floss got so linked up. I have switched over to floss drops. I store them in order number on metal rings on hangers in the closet. It works for me. Love all your new starts and Oh Joyous Day is so beautiful!!!

I have a full set of DMC that is bobbinated. Just last week I organized my spare DMC. I bought two large notebooks from Amazon. I bought clear pages with pockets to hold business cards. I put the spare DMC into numerical order. I couldn’t believe how many spare/multiple DMC I had! It makes it easy to find floss. I also use index cards to record my WIPs and can flip through them quickly if I need to find a color. Of course, if I had no WIPs, it wouldn’t be an issue! 🙄😉🤣

Really enjoy your Flosstube. On fiber storage…I use Floss A Way bags and have for years. Hubby made me a beautiful wooden box that holds all my DMC. (I posted a picture recently on IG) All my fancy fibers are also in bags. They are on rings by type in Alpha order and each has a drawer of a 6 drawer rolling cart. Glad to hear you enjoyed your retreat. Hubby and I used to camp but we gave it up a few years back due to his health. We still have our rv and I typically go out and stitch under the awning on the back of our property. With gas prices the way they are, I understand staying closer to home.

When I stitched years ago I bobbinated my floss. But I don’t do that now. I use Walmart snack size bags with a 3x5 recipe card with the floss # on it using a felt tipped marker. I punch a hole in the upper left corner and store them in photo boxes in numerical order! If I have extra leftover strands I put them behind the card to use later ! It works great for me so far ! I only use DMC at this time !

Another fun episode! I love all your projects and hearing what you are up to. I also love the image of lonely linen, fibers, and a pattern waiting to be put together and started. A wonderful philosophy. I have a bit of an odd question. We will be traveling to New England this summer in our camper van and I’m curious about the camp ground you recently stayed in that was near Hobby House. I thought it would be fun to mix camping and cross stitch shopping. Happy Crafting! -Carolyn

Hard to imagine moving all my DMC to drops but I have just a few projects at a time in work so even with the fancy floss I have reuse with my projects. I’m quickly approaching a BAB. I’m a couple years behind you. I’ll have to consider a BAP I want to do.

Great video! DMC floss storage. Ugh! I’m still trying to figure it out. Currently, I am storing them in like 3 x 4 zip top bags. I just pull from the skein as I need. If I have leftover, I have a place to store it while stitching on a particular project. I started doing this because I prefer using Hobby Lobby’s take on the FlossAway bags for syoring floss while it’s kitted so I have a plce for the leftover pieces. I know it takes more time to open/close the bags than just pulling a thread with your needle from the floss drops, but since my threads comes out very kinky when I do that, I don’t do that. Good luck! Have a great Memorial Day weekend, and agree that neither children nor teachers should have to train to protect from shooters. ❤️

Hi, I'm Patti. First of all, you mentioned mumbling and if you talked too fast. You are delightful! As I listened to your podcast, I thought about how easy you are to listen to. I have ear problems, especially sensitive hearing. Your voice is perfect! Thanks you, lololol. Anyway, I would love to join you in July. Our 50th wedding anniversary is in November...that's a biggie! I started the project by Lavendar and Lace called, The Wedding. I am going to trim it out with gold beads. It is started, but I get so sidetracked with other things. So I will dedicate this SAL for that purpose. Also, another reason I like your podcast is because we have like interests. The patterns you choose are the ones I like, as well as the colors.
