Great video Greg! You did a very nice job of introducing Rollin to those who may not know his work. I found him hard to get into. It took a couple of tries. Thanks for the video, Indicator do a brilliant job of packaging!
@bradhogue2029 thanks Brad, I should have mentioned about Jean not being for everyone. He and Jess Franco are required tastes. Thanks for checking out the video.
I think you covered it, French director, nudity, vampires. Our first film was The Iron Rose and that was a mistake. We should have started with Lips Of Blood. We just came at it from the wrong direction. And every director is an acquired taste to somebody!
I've been on board with these ph/Indicator box sets. Everything about them oozes with care and quality and with great attention to artwork. So far I have all their Rollin offerings on 4K and will likely pick up all of the other titles as they become available. He's an aqquired taste (slow and moody) that I appreciate and each film gets better after repeated viewings and familiarity with Rollin's style and intentions. He would squeeze a whole lot from such limited budgets and adverse filming conditions. Atmosphere and aura are the key results. My fave of his is probably Requiem for a Vampire which was just recently released by Indicator most recently. A non Rollin fave of these Indicator sets is Black Magic Rites. It's timeline and editing results in a somewhat confusing view at first but it's a great one still with a great soundtrack. For all box releases like these I just trim the side section off of the clear, outer wrapping with an exacto knife. This allows access to the book and disc holder with the number card remaining in place, and the remaining wrap will protect the case from finger stains and such in the meanwhile. Thanks for making and posting this video.
@montag4516 thank you so much for checking out the video. Thats awesome you are a fan of Jean as well, I hope to pick up the rest of his set soon. I plan on buying more of these PH sets in near future and I agree they are amazing. I will try to remember leaving the plastic on as well, such a great idea. Once again, thank you for watching and commenting.
Wow, I never knew there were so many vampire spin off's. But I should have. 😅 Man, you got to expand this into full-blown movie nights! America is depending on you! PLEASE, For the Love of Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Wolfman... don't let us down.😢
I need to check those movies out. Never seen any of them 🤙
I love these films and if you check any of them out let me know what you think. B
