In this video we finally wrap the handle of the sword and paint the blade chrome. I have some other ideas on how to treat the handle. I'm not too impressed with the Overgrip wrap but I guess it is ok for certain swords. We had a lot of great entries and I hope some of them inspired you to make something new. Your attention to detail is absolutely amazing
I Hand carved my blade from wood with 3 files, low grit sand paper, a crossguard from foam board and hot glue, a hilt from an old vaccuum attachment, and some foam strips for comfort, as well as a custom addition of a high choke point on the hilt that is square and leather wrapped and glued tight for a nice rustic look and feel

I am working on making my own wooden master sword right now. It's mostly my own design but I did draw some inspiration from your techniques and some others as well. I also didn't take the design of any one of the games and it is kind of a mash-up of all of them. At the point that I am at right now, I have everything painted and my plan is to wrap the handle with leather. I'm not sure that is the best plan but I want it to be authentic and look the best possible and dying the leather is the best way I can think to do it. I made it out of a pinewood 4 by 4 a choice I now regret because it has made my work harder than it should have been if I had chosen maple or something similar. It actually looks really good so far and I'm really happy with how it is turning out. Here's to hoping the finished product looks good. Thanks for your advice in giving me ideas for techniques to use I appreciate it.

The Dr Who item is the sonic screwdriver although not a Dr Who fan myself despite being British... Just one of those things you know for some reason or another. I'm gonna buy some tools and start getting into crafting again, first plan is candle carvings or clay modelling :) see how this turns out.
That has to be the best looking master sword I've seen on the net ... I would so much make one like that (you detailed it so everyone could do it, that's amazing) but I don't have the tools nor your talent :o

Hey Happy Atom another great video ;). Not to rain on your parade (because you videos always have good quality) but one thing I would recommend is to look at some other how-to channels and see how they title their videos. Each one of them have a unique style but at the same time they (almost) always are interesting. I would suggest having separate videos for different things. Another thing that you might want to keep in mind are your thumbnails... I loved the lobster shirt one and the wood rings because they capture your attention in a unique way that people associate your channel with. One thing on the blade that you could do in future videos is after you have painted it chrome you could dry brush it or put a super light coat of gray on and rub it in with a paper towel or rag. This can make it look older and it you want you can put paint on a rag and "drag" it on some of the places on the edges, this can make it look like it just went through battle. Again thanks for the video :)
I dont know if anyone mentioned this, but the perfect wrapping for the handle would be an olive green dyed leather wrap. Great grip, and it'd look authentic. Maybe a synthetic/faux leather if you're not into leather as a product
Try bike handlebar tape. It has a really nice grip, and you can find it in all colors and sizes.
The one I sent you was from twilight princess, the one you showed in the book was skyward sword, they look alike, but are different
The monado is a mythical sword in Xenoblade Chronicles.
Floral tape isn't very sticky, but the green is darker. That might work a bit better.
Glad the girl from Italy got the veneer since she had trouble locating some in her country.
Hobby Lobby has leather strips in a variety of widths and colors. That's what I would use.
+Allthatwhatnot I will have to look again. I have been twice and couldn't find anything that would work.
+HappyAtom some hobby stores have leather dyes if you wanted to try your hand at that. You may have to cut your own strip of leather to get your desired width and length.

it will look more matailk with a better shine to it and when you hit it the tap dints with the wood and will look more realistic
hay good job panting the blade but just for a future reference point you can use a aluminum backed duking tape and a squeeze
Nice take the plastic off and it really sticks. To dull it down darker just do a black wash and wipe down.
poor my country, I doubt there's no awesome carpenter like this. I did hope for a wooden sword my whole childhood :(

The tip of the hilt is a round cone, but it should be a footpointed star. Ever since that was pointed out to me I'm criticizing every mastersword I see...
It looks really nice though, shame you couldn't find the right color for it.

I think a badminton wrap for the handle I have could do the trick. It's a little thicker, but I unfortunately didn't find any green.

Why not try painting over the scraping, instead? You can keep the texture feel but also get a more desirable color and it can make it appear thicker with the paint.
Do you know if it would be possible to make this without a belt sander? I have a disk sander, but I do not think that would work.

I think you put an extra loop around the handle and it makes the handle really annoying to look at because all the blue paint is covered up it is best at 2:56 in my personal opinion

Stake the strap off and dry brush it with brown and or black shoe polish

How about painting those strips to a darker green before using them??
Also you can attach several before cutting them so they are thicker
