- Testing out the Primary Arms 1-6x24mm ACSS Illuminated Riflescope on the Russian Molot-made VEPR .308 Rifle. This particular rifle scope is the variant with an etched reticle designed to compensate for 5.56, 5.45, and .308. Another model is available compensating for 7.62x39 and 300AAC Blackout. Main features include the illuminated etched reticle with 12 level brightness, quick target acquisition at 1-5x power, and its durability in adverse conditions (waterproof, fog resistant, and flip-up lens covers for protection).

We mounted this riflescope on the VEPR .308 Rifle using a popular Midwest Industries Side Rail Scope Mount. Of the many side rail mounts for ak’s, this particular mount by MI has always been one of my favorites for its ease of use, sturdiness, rail length, low profile, and versatility. If you are in the market for a solid ak-47/74 side rail scope mount, for the money, I can definitely recommend the MI AK Side Rail Mount.
At 100 yards this optic performed as advertised, providing great groups consistently. Any variance of groupings can be put on the old surplus ammo we were using, as well as the VEPR .308’s short barrel, and comparatively lower accuracy potential compared to the AR-15 platform. We had no issues with losing our zero, even when we removed the scope and MI rail mount to inspect the fire control group. As you can see in the video, we had little to no flex on the mount or within the scope when fired.
The illuminated reticle is easy to see even when not lit up. Being an etched reticle, it’s easier on the eyes for shooters with astigmatism. I personally feel the reticle looks very crisp (no fuzziness) compared to non-etched reticles during targeting, making it less tiring for my eyes at longer distances. Adjustments with the top and side mounted knobs are quick and easy with a definitive point of impact change occurring during each adjustment. Getting this scope sighted in at 100 yards took less than 5 rounds at 50 yards and 3 rounds at 100 yards.
Overall an excellent choice for rifle scope on any platform or action, especially for the relatively low cost and solid features!

Cool setup. I recently purchased the MI ak mount and it seems to be off centered from the receiver of my ak. Does this matter for sighting in? Thanks!
