This theme isn't named after Reimu, but after her shrine. Not only does the stage take place in it, the unused song for it was explicitly called Hakurei Shrine Grounds.
This theme is a good start for Touhou Project, the sound inside it just feels different, old, traditional, sparking, colorful and more things that i cant describe…the theme is so great to me even if some people dont like it.
After playing the newer generation games (EoSD and on) and seeing how more magical and less technologically advanced Gensokyo is, I honestly was pretty surprised to see the tank that appears halfway through this stage
I wouldn't say less technologically advanced, though. Just even more magically advanced. Casual reminder that the Kappa built a giant fusion-powered mecha, just to advertise their new bazaar.
Well ZUN didn't really have an idea about the world of the games that he was creating back then, he only came up with the whole "Reimu and her friends live in a technologically lacking world" in touhou 3, Gensokyo's terminology in 4, and combined both ideas into what we know now as gensokyo of the current canon by the seihou/DiPP/EoSD era, so seeing this game's cast isn't all that surprising, especially considering how bizarre touhou 1's cast was.
I know it's technically a theme of the Hakurei Shrine (it even has 'Hakurei' in the name), but I can't help but think of it as the theme of the bakebake
*[Heroine]* REIMU HAKUREI A shrine maiden of Hakurei Shrine, who possesses natural-born spiritual power but lacks training. She exterminates youkai by attacking with amulets, firing her spiritual power called Spiritual Attack and releasing the power of Yin-Yang Orb. She's such an optimist that she doesn't worry at all even in this emergency, and believes she can solve all incidents with her power. This time, she (somehow) fights riding on the turtle. *[Turtle]* GENJII A turtle who's lived a long life and gained many powers. Reimu captured him one day during training and has worked him hard ever since. He has the power to fly freely through the sky. *[Greatest Treasure of the Hakurei Shrine]* YIN-YANG ORB An orb storing spiritual power made from a wondrous type of crystal. At a glance, it looks like a regular orb and nobody will think of it as a weapon, but when used by somebody of the Hakurei lineage, it can release tremendous power. This time, two Yin-yang Orbs follow Reimu by her sides. ZUN's comment about the track: "The first stage theme. It (the atmosphere) sounds heavy. A lot of shmups have really upbeat first stage themes, and this song is, too, but it's so dark. Even though the story for this game is a joke, the music is so serious, and the enemies are so hard... I like that kind of mismatch."
The reason why is this version is from Akyu's untouched score. This one has more notes than the original, so that's probably why it sounds different. Don't get me started on HRtP differences..
@@loltoheaven777sreplaystora6 The PC98 osts were redone for the Akyu's Untouched Score albums, the difference between it and the original HRTP songs is especially big.
17th touhou theme review " The feeling of this theme is filled with hope, The hope will go on the way to Miko (Reimu probably knows his role as Miko well) It's my 2nd favorite theme stage of part 2 " _ Grade points: SS
Touhou is not an anime. It's a series of curtain fire shooting games, where the main object is to essentially shoot down enemies while dodging a ton of bullets. Try looking up danmaku shooters on here, it should give you an idea of what the games are like. Some popular Touhou games are Perfect Cherry Blossom, Imperishable Night, Undefined Fantastic Object, and Double Dealing Character. (Although really, all of them except maybe Phantasmagoria of Flower View are popular.)
Zsaver3 Ok, branching off into new discussion xD Why is PoFV so unpopular? Personally it is one of my favorites if not my favorite. It's a very fun game to get into, and can also be very competitive... It is also a hard 1cc (at least for me), so that gives it a challenge factor as well. So, I ask again, why do people not pay much attention to it?
I think most don't pay much attention to PofV compared to other danmaku games, primarily because it's battle style, pitting you against an opponent, rather than yourself. Unlike the fighting spinoffs, which do let you customize movesets or your spellcard deck, you are stuck with predetermined moves in PofV. Also, as for PofV itself, the strategy is, well, pretty much the same for all characters, you just have different execution manners.
Story of Eastern Wonderland was the first Touhou game that was a shmup, so close enough. Besides, HRtP was kinda shitty. The music, Mima, Konngara and Sariel were some of the few good things about it (Elis was pretty meh). Everything else was just bland as hell. Sariel is best PC98 char btw

From EoSD to DDC, you still can't see mima hiding herself behind hakurei shrine, you can't see shinki flying around makai, no Mugenkan, no Elly the gatekeeper.
