Thank you Andria for sharing with those of us who are a bit closer to the beginning of our longarm journey. I've just discovered you and can't get enough.
I would have sworm this was an older video. I sub at high school and last year I used to draw this quilting pattern during quiet times, which is a lot in high school. Just to get it in my mind. Maybe I started right after you did this video. I don't know. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
Bless you for those last couple of minutes! Your work is so gorgeous and I love watching your intuitive decisions as you go. It sure doesn't come from nowhere -- lots of hours in there.
Adria, I love your videos. I have followed you for several years. I had given your name to my friend who is just starting to free motion. The thing about your videos is anyone can learn from watching. My friend is deaf so your videos are perfect. The other thing I like about this video that has closed captioning is you point to what you are talking about. That (the pointing) is so helpful for a deaf person to get the idea when there is no captioning. Thank you.
I love watching you quilt feathers! Thank you for showing us your beginning feathers compared to where you are now. It helps me believe that I can do it too!
Thank you for showing your beginning work. This is my philosophy also, just do it, don't wait til you think it will be perfect. The people that end up with them will love them cause they are from you, not for being a masterpiece. That will come in time.
Thanks for teaching. I haven't started doing serious freemotion quilting yet. But I want to start. Even at 67yo I still love developing new skills. I started quilt making at 58yo. Feeling the draw of longarm quilting. Your videos are hypnotic and soothing. And I just love drawing along on paper following you.
Love watching you do this. You make it look so easy. My two practice feathers looked worse than yours I did have three loops that looked great but then I’m having to move the material so all in all they weren’t too bad. Gave me a good laugh.
I know it is 1000 hours and more of stitching your feather designs but going from one side to another with no hesitation is incredible. Just love watching you.
I have finally been able to create feathers like yours on my home sewing machine. After plenty of doodling on paper and FMQ practice, it happened all at once- I couldn’t believe it. Now as I watched this video I visualised each feather ahead of its formation. This is such a beautiful and therapeutic craft. Thanks for the video.
I loved your video. Thank you for sharing. I have had my long arm for almost 2 years, I'm loving it and I appreciate you sharing your expertise!!! My machine is free motion as well and I would not have it any other way.
Thank you so much! Thank you for showing us your first feathers and what you do now it is very encouraging some day and I have been at it for 5 going on 6 years now and I don’t do feathers well at all. My brain does see what I am supposed to do lol!
Ok, so I love watching your vids so I just watched it again. I'm so relaxed I'm going to have to go to bed. Lol TU after a long day of quilting at my shop.
Wow, just Wow. This is gorgeous. If I were to see this in person, it would take some careful studying to realize that this is not a computer generated E2E. You have such a calming flow and fluidity to your design. I really enjoyed watching you quilt. Thank you so much for sharing and taking time to point out a few areas to pay attention to while working on this design.
Thank you so much for sharing also your first feathers cause you made it look real easy!!! your tutorial is very encouraging ! Gratefull that you shared this thank you so much!!
Cant get enough of watching your vids -- especially this one! Love it and will continue to watch again n again ... hope I don't wear it out! Thank you for sharing your amazing artistry.
Thanks much for the lesson. I am about a year into my longarm career, and I can see improvements from my first quilt already. You said out perfectly, practice, practice, practice is the key to getting better at our craft. Thank you for all your videos. I learned to see feathers from watching you, and I'm grateful. Best wishes!
Thank you so much for your encouraging, inspirational instruction. Though your background music is usually so soothing, listening to your tips and explanation is a tremendous help. I love your free flowing style, yet so elegant. I recognize many of the computerized designs are stunning, and intricate, but their repetitive preciseness at times can have the feel of a mattress cover. I much prefer your lovely style and so appreciate what I’ve learned by watching your videos. I can only dream of having the space or budget to ever have a longarm, but I’ve been able to apply what I’ve learned from you on my mid-arm sit down machine. I too look back on my early attempts and enjoy and feel proud seeing my steady improvement. Thank you again for sharing your gifted ness and talent.
I quilt on a domestic machine and love doing feathers. I recently wanted to do an edge to edge feather design but had no idea how to even start. Your video answered sooooooooo many questions for me. I do smaller quilts and just know I'll be able to use this video as a guide and inspiration. I seem to quilt traditional feathers better but agree bump backs work best for this. I'm trying to learn to be more intuitive as I work across my designs and found myself anticipating your next moves pretty accurately! Thank you so much for yet another awesome video!
Lanelle Hatcher, I agree with you. She does a wonderful job of showing us what she's doing in a way that will allow us to see how to carry on with our own work. Thank you for your wonderful explanation for us.
So, I need a break from quilting my feather obsession! Thanks to you, Adria, I am ACTUALLY doing feather filling on my third quilt and I am thrilled with my progress, due to your wonderful & mesmerizing video. I am a visual learner and I don't know if I could have done this feather fill without watching your video a few times, practicing on paper at night then finally had the courage to give it a try. First a wall quilt - went as well as could be expected (but I was happy with the result). Then I attempted another and then another full quilt. I work on a mid-arm, Sweet sixteen, and so my hand moving the fabric is a different motion than a long arm. I am dedicated to practice, practice, practice just these feathers until I am no longer nervous with every stitch. I just wanted you to know that there is absolutely NO chance I would be doing feathers without you willing to share this video. And, that you showed your first feather quilt from 10 years ago was an inspiration also. Thank you so much for sharing!
Beautiful. I’m a lazy quilter, because I’d rather make the tops and put off the actual quilting. I have several quilts, waiting. Lol. I usually just do a meander, but I love feathers. Maybe try this. Thanks
I love how you explain your moves. Knowing the why makes it easier to understand the how. You make it look effortless. I don't have a longarm, but I think I can still use the concept by chalking out my spine and dotting in the halfway parameters. Thanks for an excellent demonstration.
Ok now I am at the end of this video and I smiled at your first attempt at feathers because that is exactly how my first feathers looked! I am better now but I haven’t reached the level of your Log Cabin feather quilting...but maybe one day😀 Again, thank you for sharing!
Thanks for another great video. I really enjoyed your explanation and encouragement in working on our craft! Happy quilting and keep sharing your videos!
Thank you for showing your first feathers - just goes to show what can be done with perseverance - and as for perfection, nope, you aren't a machine and that's what makes it special. I had a go as the guy setting up my machine yesterday said have a play. So I did so badly - I'd forgotten how to do feathers! And when I did have a go they just didn't work. This morning I put myself on a timer - and with grim determination the first time I did a feather it wasn't too bad - went downhill after that! LOL! Got too cocky for my own good! But it is fun.
Love this great feather fill without the use of a pantograph! Thanks! It's nice to be able to hear your voice and the machine running without distracting music. I've been longarming for several years and find that many who are just learning prefer to listen to the machine's motor speed and watch the movement so they can learn how to use their own machines better.
I watch this about a year ago. Did this on a practice quilt that I quilt doodle on. It turned out PERFECT. A year later and I still haven't done it on one of my quilts. You have so many edge to edge designs that are so simple once I see you do them but they look amazing. Thanks so much for sharing your talents.
I too have learned so much from your videos. I’m about to do feather on my log cabin king quilt on my domestic machine... this was so timely. Build muscle memory just watching. Thank you for generously sharing your tips and inspiration.
I have watched your video(s) so many times while learning my new longarm. I am mesmerized every time and inspired to keep practicing. Please keep making videos; I love watching and learning from you!
Thank you so much for this video. I am new to long arm quilting, just got my machine a few months ago. You have inspired me to keep practicing, I love how you showed one of your first quilts, gives me hope I might get to where you are in my quilting journey.
I’m getting ready to do a feather fill from top to bottom of the quilt. Right down the middle. I always come to this video. You have helped me so much and I’m thankful for you sharing your talent. 💕
Thank you so much for this beautiful lesson. I have been quilting for clients on my Bernina 180. No feathers yet. I am buying my 1st longarm next week. I have been test-driving several machines. I am wanting to only be a hand-guided quilter. I have been doing feathers only on paper for two years ( some small sample quilts). Looking forward to coming close to your beautiful quilt.
I learn so much from your videos with backing music but it is always good to, now and again, have explanations. Loved watching this and thank you for showing your first quilt. I'm somewhere between the two as I quilt on my sit down longarm.
Excellent tutorial though I wish we could have seen the spine outline as a whole before you started quilting. However it is so encouraging to see what your first feather work on a quilt was like Thank you.
Your videos have taught me so much about feathers and really, quilting in general. I really loved this one; it's good to hear you explaining how you make your decisions and shape your feathers. I currently quilt on a domestic but my new Gammill is coming soon and I cannot WAIT. I honestly never thought of doing a feather fill all over an entire quilt,--it's so beautiful! Thanks for all of your videos; they are so helpful.
Thank you Adria. You are such an inspiration. I have a domestic machine but I'm going to try this. I think if I divide the quilt into 12"-14" strips it could work
This was an encouragement to me, I've been sewing one thing or another from doll clothes to my clothes my children's clothes and finally got into quilting about 20 years ago. Your feather tutorial is an inspiration to me, I started out on a hinterberg frame where it goes from about a 9 inch spaces down to about a six inch space on a king-size quilt. So my feathers look a little rough on some of my older quilts. Now I have a millennium from apqs much larger space not sure how big, but I need to keep doing the memory motions on paper and I keep putting that into the quilt I do. I don't quilt every day, I'm still a very busy grandma and I do other sewing besides quilt. I don't long arm for other people but I still enjoy what I do too.
I love watching you quilt - it’s very relaxing and you seem so calm. I liked listening to your thought process and what you do in certain situations. I’m still at the point where I panic and forget I can just stop the machine! Your curves seem so perfect and smooth. Plenty of practice needed for me I think!
WOW! Thank you for sharing your technique. Your comments on the process is very insightful. I enjoyed seeing your first quilt. I'm there now. I will definitely keep trying.
Fantastic video! I hadn't thought about using feathers as a filler, but I love the appearance of your quilt. I can see new ways to use feathers in my own quilts now. Thank you for sharing this!
I have watched everyone of your videos, I just got a longarm machine and I love the free motion technic. I have watched some your videos over and over. seeing one of your one of your 1st quilts is so encouraging. Even your 1st quilt looks great. I know now I have along way to go.
Wow, so wonderful and helpful to have you telling what you are doing and thinking as you do the feather fill. Also, so kind to show your first work to inspire us to keep trying and practicing. I have a small long arm on a little foot frame. Lots of manually moving the quilts. I have been quilting for just over two years now, and can see improvement. Mostly I do ruler work, but am gradually working in free motion...feathers are next. Thank you so much for this video♥️❤️
I keep coming back to this video. I love your feathers!
Thank you! So glad you love it! 💗
Watching you quilt is hypnotic!
Thank you Andria for sharing with those of us who are a bit closer to the beginning of our longarm journey. I've just discovered you and can't get enough.
You are so welcome!
I love what you do too!! Your feathers are amazing!!! 🥰 Thank you Adria!
So grateful to have you as a teacher. Thanks
Thank you for sharing your early attempts, gives us a boost to not get discouraged.
Thank you for this video and the comparison between your first feathers and now! That gives us all hope that we can do this!😊
So sweet of you to show your beginning feather fmq and where you are now in a decade of progress, that gives great hope 😊. LOVE your vids!!!❤
I appreciate when your hand is showing on the quilt. It gives a size comparison that helps with the needed close up camera angle.
👍
I would have sworm this was an older video.
I sub at high school and last year I used to draw this quilting pattern during quiet times, which is a lot in high school. Just to get it in my mind. Maybe I started right after you did this video. I don't know. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
This video got deleted, then I released it again,☺️
You make it look so easy.
Beautiful
Thank you for your videos! It is very inspiring and helpful! Also, thank you for your words throughout of the whole process!
Bless you for those last couple of minutes! Your work is so gorgeous and I love watching your intuitive decisions as you go. It sure doesn't come from nowhere -- lots of hours in there.
I love that you can go back and see how far you've come. I've seen this video before and it always makes me smile.
Thank you.
NICE, always love watching you quilt.
I love watching you quilt feathers! Thank you for showing us your beginning feathers compared to where you are now. It helps me believe that I can do it too!
Glad you enjoy the videos!! 😊 You can do it!
Very nice, especially because you included your very first feathers ever. That encourages me to keep going.
Thank you for making this video. You have taken the mystery out of stitching feathers.
Thank you for showing your beginning work. This is my philosophy also, just do it, don't wait til you think it will be perfect. The people that end up with them will love them cause they are from you, not for being a masterpiece. That will come in time.
I love that you are not computerized. You do such a nice job at showing us how to do some designs. I appreciate that you put this out there.
Thx Debby! So glad you enjoy the videos!
Your work is beautiful! Thank you so much for your videos!
Just had to watch again. Very zen! Thank you for sharing your very first feathers. How nice of you. I just love watching this video.
Thank you very much💗💗💗
Thanks for teaching. I haven't started doing serious freemotion quilting yet. But I want to start. Even at 67yo I still love developing new skills. I started quilt making at 58yo. I don't know how I missed this video, but it is amazing. I need to try this.
I really like having the instructions- the music is okay but this is better - thank you!!!
Thank you for showing your older quilt to compare. really loved your video and all the tips very helpful!
Love watching you do this. You make it look so easy. My two practice feathers looked worse than yours I did have three loops that looked great but then I’m having to move the material so all in all they weren’t too bad. Gave me a good laugh.
Thank you 😊 you'll get there!! Keep at it!
Thank you. Your tips helped so much. I love feathers. Yours are beautifully done!
This is my Quilt and I am so pleased with the quilting. I used Moda Kansas Trouble and it was Butterfly Garden collection that came out in 2010.
Hey Carol!!!! It's a beautiful quilt❤️❤️❤️
I know it is 1000 hours and more of stitching your feather designs but going from one side to another with no hesitation is incredible. Just love watching you.

Haha🤣....Yes it doesn't happen very often! Glad you enjoyed it!!!
Thank you so much! Thank you for showing us your first feathers and what you do now it is very encouraging some day and I have been at it for 5 going on 6 years now and I don’t do feathers well at all. My brain does see what I am supposed to do lol!

Such beautiful work
TU again! I especially enjoyed seeing your 1st try @ feathers...& the comparison of today...congratulations to you!
Ok now I am at the end of this video and I smiled at your first attempt at feathers because that is exactly how my first feathers looked! I am better now but I haven’t reached the level of your Log Cabin feather quilting...but maybe one day😀 Again, thank you for sharing!

Супер! Красота! Релакс! Отличный урок! Очень понравился! Спасибо большое, Адриа, что поделились своими знаниями и опытом!
Your feathers are beautiful. I am just starting and hopefully I can be as good as you . . . . some day!!
Wonderful ❤️ Thank you! Be sure to check out mumy Beginner Feathers Online Course 💜
Thanks so much for this video. Loved all your tips. I also loved that you showed us your first feathers on an earlier quilt. That’s so encouraging.
Bravo for free motion. Very affirming
Thank you for showing your first feathers - just goes to show what can be done with perseverance - and as for perfection, nope, you aren't a machine and that's what makes it special. Love this great feather fill without the use of a pantograph! Thanks!

Thank you for sharing. I love all your videos. You do beautiful work and one of these days I can only hope to be half as talented as you. ❤️
Thank you so much for this video. I am new to long arm quilting, just got my machine a few months ago. You have inspired me to keep practicing, I love how you showed one of your first quilts, gives me hope I might get to where you are in my quilting journey.
Awesome. I am inspired! Thank you for taking the time to show us your beautiful talent
Another beautiful job!
I’m getting ready to do a feather fill from top to bottom of the quilt. Right down the middle. I always come to this video. You have helped me so much and I’m thankful for you sharing your talent. 💕
Thank you! It shows that you love what you do! Your work is beautiful, and it was nice to hear a little about how you do it and plan.
Beautiful feathers. Thank you for sharing.
You make it SO easy to do the spine, that is the most difficult part for me! Especially trying to keep consistent on the quilt top! You are amazing!
Thx Chris💗
Thank you so much for this beautiful lesson. I have been quilting for clients on my Bernina 180. No feathers yet. I am buying my 1st longarm next week. I have been test-driving several machines. I am wanting to only be a hand-guided quilter. I have been doing feathers only on paper for two years ( some small sample quilts). Looking forward to coming close to your beautiful quilt.
Such beautiful workmanship! I live watching you quilt. Thank you for sharing your techniques!
After watched a few times more, I got it now. Thanks.
I was also hoping to see the spine outline as well.

Thank you for sharing I have been working on feathers but not ready for a quilt get
This is so helpful! Especially the inside curves. Thank you!
I love watching you quilt - it’s very relaxing and you seem so calm. I liked listening to your thought process and what you do in certain situations. I’m still at the point where I panic and forget I can just stop the machine! Your curves seem so perfect and smooth. Plenty of practice needed for me I think!
Wonderful, I will try to do on a scrappy nine patch. Thanks for a great tutorial.
They need to computerize this feather pattern i would never be able to do that lol you are awesome !

Awe inspiring, marvelous
Thanks for the comparison I am new at free motion and live that it’s my work and not computer
Just beautiful!
Thank you!
Thank you, a very good way to practice
