John, these Wedding Behind the Scenes are evergreen and priceless, you are providing such and incredible service sharing your wisdom and experience to the wedding photography community. Much love!
I'm seeing many photographers attempt to do behind the scenes wedding day videos, but nobody does it like you! In fact, I've never made it past 10 minutes of anyone else's video. However, I could watch your videos all day if I had the time. You wear a GoPro and you shoot candid, no posing. The way you direct the entire day and coordinate with your 2nd shooter and videographer is seamless. You are also well-matched with your wedding couples, so it seems like you're a friend of theirs, who just happens to be a professional photographer! Keep up the amazing work!
Nice film, here, JB. It was perfect to watch on the Mac while editing a wedding on the MacBook in preparation of another wedding this Saturday Like watching Bball highlights before a game! lol
I have my first big wedding on Saturday June 29th a little nervous and scared. I’ve done portraits, cake smashes and Christmas portraits but not a big event. These videos you post are make me calm down a little.
I'd have to say the flatlay mat is obviously only a good investment if you do flatlays. Wedding photographers in no way need to do these shots. So don't feel pressured to go out and buy them or worry you aren't getting those shots. Completely depends on your style/approach to weddings. Most couples skip through and couldn't care less about those when we've done them in the past. It's all about the people and the day for us. This may be more important in the U.S though,? U.K over here and it's not necessary at all. What are some things you do/don't do that you see some others doing? Also, Thanks for uploading this John, always interesting to see other peoples approaches :D
John! You are a gift to all growing wedding photographers!! Thank you! I’m seeing fstop number so low, so how is everyone so focused and clear in your photos? What do you have attached to the top of your camera strap on shoulder?
Hearing you say they needed to back at like 6 blew my mind! Guessing they had 4/5pm ceremony? Wish more uk couples would have later ceremonies, they be getting married at 1pm and first dance at 8pm 😂
Great video John. Love to see how other photographers work a wedding day. One question though, how are you getting staggered groups in focus at f1.7 - f2. I don’t shoot Fuji, so maybe the aperture numbers are different?
I'm usually stopping down just a little bit to about f2 or 2.8 maybe even 3.6. The listed lens is more so just the name of the lens not the settings I have it at.
John, my man! You are the best at what you do and you do it best! Every time I see you taking charge of the day and couple just enjoying through it, I ask myself if I can have my wedding again and have you shoot it! Saying as someone who is a beginner and doing small weddings!
Hello John, great video. I have 2 questions. I see you use the 80mm at f1.7 for group shots. Are everybody in focus when you use it that wide open? And what is a 80mm f1.7 equivalent to an APS-C lens? Thank you
John I am about to do my first wedding and this video has been so informative! I do have 1 question. You are taking group shots at f1.7 and f2....how are you able to do that and still get everyone in focus?
For the lens that's just the name of the lens. Not particularly what f-stop I actually shot at. However, I can tell you I generally shot wide open but for group shots I will stop down a little bit to around f2 or f4
Hi John, the best BTS I’ve ever seen!!! I know this wedding was a little while ago but i was wondering if you have contact info or a link to the videographers video? I film and shoot weddings so it might be cool it seems how his footage turned out after seeing him work. Thanks again!!!
Unfortunately when I went to look up his information to tag him in the video all of his business info has been closed down. No website, no Instagram, nothing. Some of his Knot pages were still up but that was about it. I guess they closed down 😞 (He was great to work with)
I’m still in shock how you use the fuji xt3. I own one and it has been nothing but issues. From the battery life to full restart after changing a battery. I have the sigma 18-55 2.8 lens for it
When I was using the X-T3s I used the battery grip which made a HUGE difference with the batter. I was able to go the whole day up until the reception before I had to switch. Also, I turned my cameras off often when I wasn't really doing much. As far as focusing you have to use. single point autofocus and really have an idea of where you want to focus. But Honestly the X-T3s were my favorite Fujifilm cameras.
What camera do you have mounted to your left shoulder? Is that a GoPro? Do you have a video where you talk about getting behind the scenes video? I'm on the hunt for the best set-up for that.
Thank for this video.
This is not a video.. this is a MOVIE!!! Thank you!!!!!
You're welcome! I hope its enjoyable.
Agreed, it was very helpful.

Thank you for this! I have now the GFX100S II and shoot weddings with the 50S the last years. I love the system.
That's an awesome kit. I'm thinking about going full GFX myself.
Sending tons of love from the Philippines 🇵🇭🫶

First looks are so fun. Couples really enjoy it.
I Love these!
It’s a good one. I’m excited for it to release.
Love this, bro! Would you mind sharing a little about your GoPro setup, please?
Yeah. It's a GoPro Hero 5 and I use the book bag adapter and hook it to my camera straps. It's always worked great for me.
Nice video. Btw do you use flash?
I do. But usually not during the day unless I really need it.
Great video! 🫶

I don't have a video talking about it but I've been thinking about making one. People ask me about it often.
What is the camera holster that you are using? The link above is for the suits. Couldn't find one that can attach a bag to it.
Thanks for bringing that up. I fixed the links and you can find the straps here bit.ly/2VJHoql

They were on shark tank a few years ago. How cool you got to shoot their wedding.
Right?! They're absolutely amazing people and I love their business. Such a great idea.
Details on each lens used?
how did u market yourself
Loveee!🔥
Glad you enjoyed it!
wow. thought it was a teaser, but it's a full video
Nope. When I say full wedding day I mean it 😉
That 80 1.7 hits hard
I love that lens so much!
I've attended a wedding here! It's about 30 minutes from where l live.
It's a beautiful venue. I hope you had an amazing time at the wedding!
That's my man, bro. 🎉
👏👏👏
I wonder why 2nd camera is an xt3 over xt5? Pls advise...
This wedding was in 2021. X-T5 didn't exist at this point. Now I do shoot with the GFX 100 II and the X-T5.
Let’s gooooooooooooooo 🎉
So glad I'm making more of these again
What camera are you using?
I'm using the GFX 100S and the X-T3. All Fujifilm. ❤️
@@jbivphotography that’s brilliant because I’ll be buying an Xt-3 today. Exciting times
Shutter speed 1/600?
How to edit Distortion photos sir....
I'm not sure I understand the question. Could you explain further for me?
I shoot tight for the first dance but only for the first 30 seconds, maybe less then go wide.
Makes sense. That's a good tip. The moment they start moving too much being tight is not advantageous.
NGL John I held my breath when you were putting up and a getting down from the dress shot lol . So nervewrecking
lol. I really don't like ladders.
Great 🎉
🙏🙏
Please wait, I’m going to buy pizza! 😅
😂😂
That prompt was sooo awkward LOL
Yeah it was pretty bad. This was 3 years ago. I don’t use prompts like that as much.
@@jbivphotography It was funny though
lol, you can see how the videographer is working physically sooo much harder, than the photographer to get the right shots. 😅
Being a videographer is SOOO hard. I've done about 3 wedding films and it was so much work!
1:07:31 🤦♂😆
😂😂😂😂
